  1. Olentangy planned accordingly with a 10-20 year vision that specifically called out additional high schools. They were honest in that initial assessment, so when the time came to build Liberty, then Orange and then Berlin...nobody was surprised...and nobody will be surprised when Berkshire breaks ground. I think these communities just need to be upfront and honest about what is coming and what the plans are. Put together a well thought out 20 year vision...and for Johnstown, that could very well easily be a 2nd or 3rd high school by then. But just be honest with your constituents...don't nickel and dime them, just tell them what the ultimate reality will be. A housing development like this one alone could push Johnstown close to D1...
  2. Agree...i don't think people are TRULY wrapping their heads around the growth that is coming. Licking County is exactly where Delaware County was 20 years ago...only this growth is going to be 5x that growth. I simply don't think many people are honestly thinking big enough. In 2000, Olentangy had one Division 4 school. Now Olentangy has FOUR Division 1 High Schools with the 5th and final school coming soon (I believe?). I think we all should be expanding our thoughts about the impact on schooling. I think Johnstown could end up with 2-3 schools...Licking Heights with 4-5 schools...Watkins with 4-5 schools...Northridge becoming D1...Granville becoming D1...Heath becoming D1. I mean think about it, the Chase facility is the anchor that lead to the explosion of the growth in Delaware County...this Intel development and subsequent indirect development is easily going to be 5x that amount. So these communities need to be planning for this growth with a much much larger vision. Johnstown could easily get to 30-50k residents over the next 20 years. This development alone could be enough to put Johnstown right back to square one with its current High School facility not being nearly big enough.
  3. Interesting that the Newark/Heath Licking County Port Authority owns the Subarea 2 and has a contract with Huntington to build some sort of big facility there. Is there any additional information about that specific part? Seems like it should be bigger news...
  4. Yes, the old church right off the highway. It has to start somewhere though...maybe it will be the catalyst for that area?
  5. Pretty cool restoration of the Hudson Ave church that has been vacant for a long time. Seems to be turning into a multi-purpose venue for weddings etc. Will be really nice when its complete. It appears they have purchased the vacant lots next to the church for the outdoor patio and parking. Super cool building...glad to see the investment and revitalization of Newark continue. 6. Front page of the Dispatch today. Renderings for the latest update on John Glenn International. https://www.dispatch.com/story/business/transportation/2023/08/21/what-does-new-columbus-airport-terminal-mean-for-travelers-and-planes/70593928007/

Pretty insightful article about the development of students and workforce for Intel beginning at COTC in Newark.
  8. https://www.newarkadvocate.com/story/news/2023/08/02/intel-husted-cotc-unveil-programs-for-semiconductor-industry-workers/70497677007/ Insightful article about Intel and how COTC is ramping up its curriculum to help develop students and workforce.
  9. I vote for the NE Downtown location. Yes, there would have to be a lot of land purchasing, but this is truly the best spot. This would revitalize this part of Downtown Cleveland, keep it close to the lakefront, bridge the gap between downtown and Cleveland State and also keep the Muni Lot relevant. Again, i know this would be the hardest site to acquire, but its simply the best location IMO. I hope the powers that be understand the 100 year decision this could become. Something that could change the franchise and the city forever!! You get what you pay for and this site would be fantastic!!
  10. interesting article. While this may seem like an insignificant purchase, i think it tells us a few things. The Licking County Commissioners, LEADS and Ohio Means Jobs use this site...and it states in the article that they are running out of space at their Downtown Newark location, so that tells me that they must be getting more and more inquiries in Licking County about doing business here...most likely spin off from Intel and need the additional space for additional people. This is a nice little site that they could do A LOT with...expansion...new build...so i will be curious to see what happens with this. There is actually a much bigger footprint to this site than you would think. https://www.newarkadvocate.com/story/news/local/2023/07/31/licking-county-commissioners-plan-to-purchase-eastland-center/70484342007/
  11. https://www.newarkadvocate.com/story/business/transportation/2023/07/14/intel-growth-prompts-look-at-licking-county-johnstown-bypass/70414569007/ Oh boy…a second outer belt starting in Licking and Delaware counties??? It proposes starting from I-70 N of Delaware heading east, bypassing Johnstown, then heading SE and then finally heading South all the way to I-70. Something like this wasn’t supposed to have gotten out according to the article, which tells me they’re serious about it. This would take Licking County growth to levels Delaware county hasn’t even seen. Is/was anybody able to see this map of the proposed first phase of a new outer belt, before it was taken down???
  12. I couldn't agree more. This is one of the best parking garages i have ever seen. It was designed very well and it turned out perfect!! It blends right in to Astor Park and provides more depth to the stadium. Cant wait to see how this office building turns out...and the housing!!
  13. https://www.newarkadvocate.com/story/news/local/2023/06/29/newarks-arcade-renovation-cost-duration-surprises-increase/70352825007/ Updated story on the Newark Arcade currently undergoing 20 million in restoration. They recently discovered a fuel tank during digging that there were no records of at any point. The first pic is the rendering of the finished exterior of the Arcade. The second picture is a pic of the newly discovered fuel tank. This is going to bring an additional 19 Lofts and new business downtown. Cant wait until this restoration is finished!!
  14. https://www.newarkadvocate.com/story/opinion/columnists/2023/06/24/thornwood-drive-corridor-improvements-needed-for-growth-demands-porcritical-to-current-future-growth/70338039007/ Good read!! Sounds like (R)Troy Balderson and (D)Sherrod Brown were able to work together to help allocate money to help with the Thornwood Corridor expansion. People need to start paying attention to this area!!! The Thornwood Corridor might be the next ground zero for Intel spin-off development, as mentioned in the article. CEO Rick Platt of the Licking County Port Authority has been an incredible asset to our community. He mentions in the article that if the area of Newark, Heath, Granville and Hebron were one city, it would be the 7th largest city in the state. He also mentions that more unannounced jobs are headed this…I’m assuming that the Thornwood Corridor is going to get many Intel related jobs. Keep up the great work Mr Platt!!!
  15. This is take directly off of the Downtown Newark Lofts website. It gives us an idea of the current price ranges for downtown living in Newark.
  16. I had this conversation with a few people at Newark Station over the weekend...People keep saying this, however, all the new loft units downtown are going for well over $1k a month and are fully leased...so the market is in fact there, which is a great to see!!
  17. The renderings below were from the original concept a few years ago. This was by the Gossman Group. If we can get anything close to this, plus a parking garage added into the mix as well, then this project will be awesome to see!! I cant wait to see what the city comes up with.
  18. https://www.newarkadvocate.com/story/news/2023/06/21/five-story-parking-garage-could-start-redevelopment-of-downtown-site/70326571007/ Finally!! 120 apartments. 20 condos. 5 story parking garage. Retail. There was a plan for this area a few years ago, but COVID and an unfortunate medical issue halted the plans. Seems like the city has rethought what they need. 5 stories for the parking garage is bigger than 90% of the buildings downtown...so i don't know how i feel about 5 stories. But i'm excited for this to get going.
  19. Some new pics starting to surface from the NEWARK STATION project on W Main St. This looks absolutely INCREDIBLE!!! This might be one of the best projects/renovation in all of Central Ohio...truly!! Cant wait to see the finished product over the next few years. Truly remarkable what these folks are doing for this piece of property that has LONG been vacant. Just to give everyone a refresher of what and where this project is. The Earthworkspics are represented in the Orange area of the project and the pics are below. The Yard was phase I and has been open. The Renaissance Park building has been demolished and is now moving forward. Lookout Taproom, The Lots and The Lofts are currently under construction. Glasshouse has not started yet to my knowledge. What a great project!! Before: After:
  20. Such a cool picture! It is such a shame that the historical tallest building caught on fire and burnt to the ground...the white building next to it in the picture is the current tallest building in Newark. So it shows that we can handle an 8-15 story building for sure. We have the ladder trucks in our fire dept to handle a building that tall. Who knows, hopefully a new tower gets built in the next 5-10 years with all the growth that is coming. Would be a great and new iconic building for Newark.
  21. You mean something like this...would be a perfect place to put a nice little 8-10 story residential tower...wouldn't it!! We can dream right?!?!?
  22. Thanks for the insight...good information!!
  23. There is nothing more i would love to see in Newark, than a new mixed use building that is anywhere from 8-15 stories tall. I have even heard a few very faint rumors that the city is pushing to replace the current City Building on 4th and W Main. That would be a blessing...that building is ugly and doesn't fit into the fabric of downtown...at all. If you read the Framework plan, it says continuing to add housing downtown is a priority...so maybe you have some hope to win that bet still. I am rooting for you to win!
  24. https://www.newarkadvocate.com/story/news/2023/06/09/residents-weigh-in-on-framework-plan-to-prepare-for-intel-development/70295430007/ https://frameworklc.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/LC_BaselineReport.pdf I posted this in the Licking County thread as well, but here is the latest from the Licking County Framework group that is planning and shaping the Intel development coming to the area. The second link has some GREAT information!!! I think the most interesting/fascinating part in the Newark Framework section is a proposed new road on the western edge of Newark, right at the Newark/Granville line...looks like they are planning a bypass of sorts. That would be something else if true!
