Heath: Developments and News
This development has been in the works for a few years. That area of the Greater Newark/Heath/Granville area is about to explode. #1 on the map is the development being mentioned in the last few articles. Massive piece of land. #2 on the map is a housing development in Newark that is currently under construction. Asphalt and curbs are being poured. #3 on the map will be breaking ground very soon. I believe its slated for 60 homes? #4 on the map is the prize. Granville has been doing everything in its power to stop Newark from developing this land. This is slated for hundreds of homes. #5 on the map is the Thornwood Crossing, Thornwood Bridge Connector and Thornwood Dr widening and expansion. This is currently in phase II (Bridge). #6 on the map is the new BEHR Paint facility that is currently under construction. It is in the final stages of construction #7 on the map is the 1 year old Owens Corning Fiberglass warehouse/distribution center. As you can see, all 7 developments are all right next to each other. This area is booming. 5-10 years from now, it may feel like a whole new city on the western edge of the GNA. Once #5 (Thornwood Dr Expansion) gets finished...it will explode even more!

Newark: Developments and News
OhioFinest replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionThis is just a portion of S 2nd St (looking south) that will be a part of the upgrade. How mad do you think the resident on the left is, who spent their own hard earned money to have their sidewalk and curb replaced, only to have this upgrade announcement come out now?!?!?!? Having said that, you get a glimpse of how much of a difference it could make...and that is just one property. Now imagine new utility lines, curbs, sidewalkds and pavement all the way down 2nd St!!

Newark: Developments and News
OhioFinest replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionFixing everything...Sewers, Utility lines, Water Lines, Curbs, Sidewalks and road. Now that the downtown portion is complete, this construction will bridge the gap between downtown and the ball fields at Mound City and Don Edwards. It really will be a massive upgrade. I love that the city is investing in the south side. We have to...if we want our city to continue to grow and capitalize on all the momentum of the last 5 years...we have to!!! I will be curious to see how the entire downtown/south side looks in another 5 years. This is another great step in revitalizing the area. Investing can be very hard...Kudos to Newark!!

OhioFinest replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & Constructionhttps://www.newarkadvocate.com/story/news/2023/05/24/south-second-street-next-for-2-year-sewer-separation-road-work-project/70244970007/ Newark's revitalization project continues...next up is S 2nd Street, Ohio Street and E National Dr. This will be huge for that area. Newark is investing in its infrastructure for the future. Yes its inconvenient, but look at the difference it has made in this city. Night and day difference.

Licking County: Developments and News
OhioFinest replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionHis name is Rick Platt. He has been instrumental in the success of the Port Authority. Yes, you are correct, the PA bought a ton of acreage off of Thornwood Dr for a brand new Industrial Park. It was a significant amount of land, so they have big plans yet to come!

Licking County: Developments and News
OhioFinest replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionHere is another pic of the new BEHR Paint facility being built next to BOEING in the Licking County Port Authority Industrial Park. I believe it is 330k square feet. They are already posting jobs. Every building with a red check on it, has been built over the last 10 years. Tremendous growth by the Port Authority.

Newark: Developments and News
OhioFinest replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionThe new "Conor's Pass" subdivision on the north end of the city. I'm not kidding when i say they built this entire neighborhood in 6 months. From first house to last house. Newark is going through a major growth spurt.

Newark: Developments and News
OhioFinest replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionI have been slacking lately...but here is the newest housing development in Newark. This is on the NW side of the city. The first phase is 42 Condo units. If you go way back to 07-08', this property was part of a much MUCH larger development called Ole Orchard Farms that was stalled because of the Great Recession. It makes me wonder if this development will resurface. This is one of my favorite pieces of land in the Newark/Granville area...beautiful rolling hills and wooded areas. This is PRIME for future development too. The red area on the map below is where this is located. The larger yellow area is the Old Orchard Farms Development.

Newark: Developments and News
OhioFinest replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionI cant even explain how much better the traffic flows with the round-a-bouts. Downtown Newark is the perfect place for this concept. Truly. I was skeptical at first, but man...it is a vast improvement!!

This building is an incredible piece of architecture for a city like Newark to have!! Cant wait to see this building fully restored.

Newark: Developments and News
OhioFinest replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & Constructionhttps://www.newarkadvocate.com/story/news/local/2023/04/02/community-gets-to-weigh-in-on-planning-ahead-of-intel-development/70062008007/ Pretty good article on the 15 Licking County jurisdictions coming together in Newark at OSU and working on forming a comprehensive plan for housing. Sounds like they’re all in agreement that all 15 jurisdictions desperately need not only just more housing…but diversity in housing price ranges. Sounds like the housing boom is getting closer to taking off. I wish they would’ve named the 15 jurisdictions who were present. Just out of curiosity, id love to know if Granville was present? Anyway, next meeting is set for Pataskala.

Newark: Developments and News
OhioFinest replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionThe map of the Newark/Heath/Granville area below shows housing divisions that are either under construction or planned. Yellow = Under Construction Orange = Planned Construction As you can see, just like the article references, the areas in Orange in Heath are planned for large housing divisions. I wouldn't be surprised if the Greater Newark Area gets to 80-90k residents over the next 5-10 years and on.

Newark: Developments and News
OhioFinest replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & Constructionhttps://www.newarkadvocate.com/story/news/2023/03/19/heath-prepares-to-provide-homes-for-intels-silicon-heartland-employees/70013793007/ The Newark/Heath area is preparing for growth and doing so in a connected and well thought out manner. Newark currently has 5 new housing divisions under construction with another BIG one coming soon. Heath is anticipating their population to grow by 5,000 residents by 2030...so just 7 years. The Greater Newark area is really going through its ascendancy and the future looks even brighter. The new 330,000 sq ft BEHR plant is also moving along nicely. That is going to be another solid employment anchor in the county. Should be open by late summer if i had to guess.

New Albany: Ohio One (Intel Semiconductor Facility)
OhioFinest replied to cbussoccer's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionAgree 100%...and what do those states in red have in common and the states in green all have in common...hmmmm???? On top of that, if 4 of the highest outbound migration states are basically neighbors of ours, maybe it won't be as hard to find workers as they are "saying"? Seems like Ohio has the opportunity to attract a lot of people from PA, WV, NY and IL if you ask me!! With direct Intel jobs and the indirect support jobs, Ohio has the chance to become the premier destination in the MW/NE. That's what the map tells me...

Newark: Developments and News
OhioFinest replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & Constructionhttps://www.newarkadvocate.com/story/news/2023/02/07/boeing-secures-air-force-contract-for-icbm-work-done-at-heath-facility/69872342007/ This is GREAT news for the Newark/Heath area. I would love to hear of Boeing being included more when talking about Fortune 500 companies that have announced plans for Central Ohio over the last few years and months. Amazon, Google. Facebook/Meta, Intel AND Boeing. All within a 20 min drive of each other. The Boeing site has grown from 300 employees, to over 700 with plans for 1200. What they do there is incredible and somehow is kept pretty secret around Central Ohio...for good reasons i suppose. Keep the good news coming!!

Newark: Developments and News
OhioFinest replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & Constructionhttps://www.newarkadvocate.com/story/news/2023/01/11/ohio-gov-hopewell-earthworks-potential-for-world-heritage-big-deal/69792006007/ Lots of chatter about what a "World Heritage" designation could mean for Newark. There's been rumors about a Hopewell Museum/Hotel coming to the former Meritor site that was torn down a few years ago to accomdate the tourism that "could" come with a WH designation. I would say the community is 80/20 on NOT supporting this...and there are plenty of concerns. Will be interesting to see how this shakes out.

OhioFinest replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionThe new 330K sq ft BEHR Paint facility under construction in the Newark Industrial Park. This is going to be a nice addition to the local economy. Around 100 new jobs.
