  1. https://www.newarkadvocate.com/story/news/local/2022/09/22/construction-begins-on-the-landing-at-newark-station-apartments/69508245007/ This is super exciting for the city of Newark! The Newark Station development is a fantastic redevelopment of a property that has literally sat vacant for my whole life. Beyond happy that this major project is moving forward and continuing the momentum that the city of Newark is experiencing.
  2. Pretty cool video of Downtown Newark this past weekend for the "Lite the Night" Car show. Videos like this show just how incredible the revitalization effort has been. Total transformation. In a couple of instances, you can see the next phase of the revitalization process finishing up with the Round-a-bouts at W Main St and 4th St. Downtown Newark is THE perfect place for events like this.
  3. Yes, the initial investment will now go from 2 FABS to now 5 FABS. I think the full build out is still projected to be up to 10 FABS over time. This is what i took from the article. The indirect jobs from suppliers is what is really going to be fascinating to keep an eye on. Who those are and where are they locating? With direct Intel jobs, indirect supplier jobs, construction jobs and retail jobs that follow...this feels like it could be in the 50-75k jobs range when all is said and done. Possibly more? Cant wait!!
  4. https://www.newarkadvocate.com/story/news/2022/08/30/hottinger-intel-to-build-five-fabs-suppliers-scout-central-ohio-sites/65459434007/ Ohio State Senator Jay Hottinger said that with the passage of the CHIPS Act, that Intel will now be building at least 5 FABS instead of 2. The article also mentions that there are up to 40 suppliers associated with Intel...15 of which, will be located in Central Ohio...at a minimum. This is going to be absolutely surreal to watch unfold.
  5. Yes, you are correct in that many are slabs, but not all, there are some with basements. These are still really nice homes though.
  6. I took a trip up to the north end of Newark to see the progress on one of the newest housing developments named "Conor's Pass"....holy smokes!!! I am pretty sure that phase I is completely built out already. It feels like there is literally 50 homes under construction. Phase II is currently under construction on the other side of the site. There are at least 5 more housing projects in Newark that are currently going through approvals. Newark is growing!! This is the site before housing construction started... After construction...
  7. https://www.visitdublinohio.com/dublin-fieldhouse/ Here’s the video and concepts of the arena. When they speak about it, they speak about it in confirmed language, not as if it’s conceptual…more in a matter of fact language. Would love to see this get built. They have been at Ohio Dominican for the last 5-8 years. It’s simply NOT big enough. Those crowds are jam packed, hot and lack concessions. The plans for the arena were incredible and would become the premier site in Central Ohio. I’m pretty sure the plans were for either F or J on the map?
  8. I’ll ask this again…where are they with the planned arena?? That is something desperately needed as Central Ohio lacks a sports venue that’s big enough to host District and Regional OHSAA events. Is the arena still part of this development? Thanks
  9. https://www.newarkadvocate.com/story/news/2022/08/17/heath-newark-licking-county-airport-to-get-new-terminal-building/65405847007/ Looks like the city will be getting a new Airport Terminal. This is low key a big deal. Boeing execs have flown into that Airport on occasion. That area is PRIME for development with the Port Authority having plans for a new Industrial Park off of Thornwood Dr. That airport getting a much bigger space in a fresh new modern terminal could sway some business related to Intel to locate here. Not saying it will, just that it can’t hurt. Growth!
  10. The current effort to renovate and restore all the downtown lofts and apartments is remarkable. Its "big city" living in a mid sized city. Some of those lofts are absolutely incredible spaces!! I am so glad that there are people putting in the effort to bring that unique style of living back to downtown Newark. It's noticeable too...there are hundreds more people downtown on any given night...which is a good thing!! It has become vibrant and fun!! I cant wait until this 4th street project is completed and we can officially move on from the road construction that has been going on for the last 5 years and enjoy the new streets and streetscaping!
  11. I'm not sure? Hopefully the 4th street construction wraps up soon, allows traffic to flow again and give businesses exposure. Its been tough getting around downtown, but once its done, its going to be awesome!!
  12. "Drip Dreams" recently opened its doors in Downtown Newark, adding a much needed Ice Cream establishment to the Square. Glad to see another addition to the core of the city and continue the Revitalization.
  13. https://www.newarkadvocate.com/story/news/2022/06/30/kroger-announces-70-million-expansion-tamarack-farms-dairy/7765037001/ Great news for the local economy!! Kroger based Tamarack Dairy announces 70 million dollar expansion at their Newark site on the west end of the city.
  14. People i have been talking to have also been hopeful of a new outlet mall or something like it, somewhere in between New Albany and Newark. The 310 and 37 interchanges are perfect places to jump start that part of the economic development in western LC. Something like that at either of those two interchanges would start an economic boom for certain. Intel site is in yellow, the two red circles are the 161/310 and 161/37 interchanges. Right smack in the middle. That would also be the beginning of the growth connecting New Albany to Newark/Granville...
  15. Totally get it...maybe its the perfect time for a fresh start for both the Browns and the city? Browns get a world class stadium and the city of Cleveland gets to reinvent itself and build a new and exciting future.
  16. As a Central Ohio Resident, lifelong Browns fan and knowing nothing about these two areas, if i had to pick, based solely on renderings and location, i would prefer the eastside of downtown location...right by the Muni Lot. Redevelop the 70 acre FES site and other lakefront sites, build a palace of a stadium with a retractable roof and change the future of Cleveland at a time when the state of Ohio is poised for a major comeback. IMO, this would be the best case scenario. The time is now! This decision could be the catalyst for a major Cleveland comeback that we are all rooting for. Cant wait to see how this all unfolds. GO BROWNS!!!
  17. This is where this new facility is being built...
  18. They just broke ground for this building last week. Going to be a great addition to the Industrial Park and right next to Boeing. This area of the county is prime for an explosion of growth.
  19. https://www.newarkadvocate.com/story/news/2022/06/17/homebuilder-targets-intel-proposed-302-home-subdivision-heath/7645160001/ A new 302 home subdivision is being proposed in Heath. This area continues to grow. Sounds like these will be pretty pricey homes.
  20. Progress continues on the broader Downtown Newark Revitalization project that called for 3 Round-a-bouts on 4th street. Work is finishing up on the 1st round-a-bout at 4th and Church St. This is going to be absolutely incredible when finished. This is going to add to the already transformative and charming look of Downtown Newark. Once this wraps up, multiple other projects are slated for work. I have to give the city a TON of credit for absorbing the headaches and looking at the bigger and longer picture. This is positioning Newark for great success in the upcoming Intel era.
  21. That's a great model for renovating these kind of buildings....incredible!!!
  22. "One of them is just east of downtown Columbus and the others are being set for areas to the east of the city to avoid competition with the West Jefferson facility." Sooooo, does that mean the suburbs east of the city, or east of the city...as in the Newark area?
  23. I agree...what pains me...is there is an old bowling alley in downtown Newark that is just begging for somebody to renovate it. In fact, a local architecture firm "Northpoint Ohio Architecture" has a concept of it on their website, fully renovated. This is the current building...just sitting there right next to all of the new development going on. Here are the concept renderings...This would have been a GREAT place for a "Pins" style establishment.
  24. A little birdie has been singing...my sources have told me that this entire building has been bought out and will be converted into a "Pins" type of establishment. It wont be called that, but the idea is the exact same. The last tenants were PNB, Arensberg Pharmacy and Athletico Therapy. Its most famous tenant used to be Papa Joe's and Bunky's....those were both great bars!! This place has tons of parking and if this turns out like i think it will...its going to be a tremendous success. In a GREAT part of Newark. It should attract tons of students from Denison as well.
  25. As a Newark resident, i can tell you...around the community, there is a buzz about Intel coming. It seems like it comes up in every conversation at some point. Many of you know i frequent the "Newark Development" thread quite often and have promoted the positive direction the city of Newark has already taken in the last 3-5 years to promote and attract business...100s of millions of dollars being spent investing in the city. This was before Intel even announced they are coming here. Now, there seems to be some turth in that investment, as it confirms the money being spent and gives the residents faith that the community leaders in Licking County are doing things right. The next thing that needs to happen is...housing housing housing!! There shouldn't be any more hurdles being thrown around by councils. Everybody knows what needs to be done. Now its about execution. I cant wait to see how this unfolds
