  1. For sure!!! The Central Ohio Aerospace and Technology Center and Boeing campuses also use some of the largest Clean Room space in the world. Boeing is booming out there with new work coming in daily it seems like. Somebody i know that works there told me they just announced plans to their employees that they are hiring an additional 350 people this year. They use some of the same suppliers like Air Products and Applied. Having an abundance of Clean Room space and bunny suit type of jobs is a great thing and seems like an interesting connection....just 15 miles apart!! There is plenty of land that surrounds the COATC and maybe the Licking County Port Authority will land some of these suppliers? All of this news has my head spinning!!!
  2. I actually think "Silicon Heartland" has a fantastic ring to it!! This development, when built completely built out, will benefit the entire region of the country..."The Heartland"!!! This is bigger than just Columbus.
  3. This announcement is being made in the city of Newark today...i think that is very symbolic. Yes, those areas will have some growth for sure, but i think this is way more about the explosion that is about to happen in Licking County. Think about what Chase did for Delaware county. This could be 3x as big for Licking County. I think something of this magnitude is going to have more of an impact on Newark/Johnstown/Pataskala/Granville!!! These communities could see significant growth over the next decade because of this development.
  4. I don’t want to change the subject...but this is also AWESOME for the city of Newark. Many of you know how much I post in the “Newark Development Thread” about all of the positive news and momentum going on in the city. For this incredible moment...the biggest economic moment in history for the state of Ohio...for the announcement to be made in Newark is absolutely amazing. Makes me feel incredibly proud to live in Newark. It may seem completely irrelevant to some, but I think it points to the future for the city. The fact that a company like Intel chose to announce a story of this magnitude in Newark. Can’t wait for tomorrow!!!!
  5. Well if this doesn't wake up Granville...nothing will. I would think that the housing developments on River Rd are almost assuredly going to happen now. We will need as many developments as possible to absorb what is coming now and in the future. For as "progressive" as they think they are, i have never understood why Granville thought they could avoid this kind of development and put together a plan other than adopting "green space zones". The Exempted Village needs to open their eyes to whats happening around them and FINALLY be a good neighbor. Granville needs to finally look west instead of east
  6. This is over the top exciting! What a huge win for New Albany, Licking County, Central Ohio and the state of Ohio in general. Cannot wait to see this unfold.
  7. Like i said way back in this thread....Johnstown...come on down, you're the next contestant on who wants to be the next booming Central Ohio community!
  8. Wow...this is super exciting news. I cant wait to see how this unfolds...site plans, renderings and such. Hold on folks...
  9. https://www.dispatch.com/story/news/2022/01/13/new-albany-annexation-transformational-jersey-township-county/9185579002/ Another article about this development. Reading it, its hard not to get excited when everybody involved seems pretty certain its happening. I simply cannot wait to hear what this announcement is going to be!!!
  10. 10,000 direct jobs with 100,000 indirect jobs....holy smokes!!!! The article states this would be the biggest economic win of all time in the region. I will say it again, Licking County is exactly where Delaware County was in the 90s. It is about to explode in LC. Facebook, Google, Amazon...Intel? This would absolutely change the region forever. New Albany to Newark is about to blow up! Also, i know this is technically "New Albany"...but this story needs to be in other threads as well. This development is going to effect the entire region and the future of central Ohio. Just my two cents...
  11. https://www.10tv.com/article/news/local/newark-non-profit-aims-to-become-hub-for-artists-and-musicians/530-c1b220ef-82a2-4db3-a088-789921693dfe WBNS 10tv did a cool story on the new Newark Organization for the Creative Arts in Downtown Newark. Love this!!!!
  12. Wow...so is this topped out then?
  13. ^^^^ Awesome...cant complain about this development.
  14. They were already so ugly before, when they were just empty lots...but now that they are infilling these lots...it just sticks out even more. The city should really try and fix this.
  15. What i really like about this design concept, is how it fits with the existing infrastructure. Looks perfect for that area.
  16. The area in yellow will be where these apartment units will be built. View from West Main St...
  17. ^^^^ This is freaking AWESOME!!!!!!! What a great time for the city of Newark.
  18. On topic....this Hilton doesn't do much to change the skyline....at all. But otherwise, its a beautiful structure, just doesn't do anything for height or the ability to stick out. Id rather Hilton just built one tower that was 25 stories taller, rather than two...but again, just my opinion.
  19. Wow...way to COMPLETELY miss read what i said. I said "A"...as in a singular iconic tower....where did i say multiple???? I 100% agree with density and all of that. I love whats going on with the Scioto Peninsula, but the FACT still remains...when people drive through Columbus, the skyline is small to them. Like it or not. Again, Columbus needs an ICONIC tower in terms of HEIGHT in my honest opinion. If tomorrow, a proposal is released to the public that a 1000 ft tower is being built...there would be 500 people on here saying how awesome it is ...and you know it!!! If we are going to have these 25-40 story buildings being built, then we would need 25+ of them being built to make the skyline really jump out at you. That is NOT happening any time soon either. So in my opinion, its easier to change the skyline by building 1 iconic tower vs building 25+ buildings the same height over 30 years. Sorry, that's my opinion. You are entitled to your own opinions, but that doesn't make it a fact...just like mine!! I simply want a massive building to anchor the skyline...
  20. Looking at those last two pics....i hate saying this, but Columbus NEEDS an iconic Skyscraper. It just does. I know the whole "build it just to build it" doesn't always fly, but in Columbus case, i truly think it does. We need a tower that is 2x the height of any current building...something that grabs your attention. Hopefully something that tall is coming soon!!!
  21. https://www.newarkadvocate.com/story/news/2021/12/14/new-gift-shop-funny-gifts-all-types-opens-downtown-newark/6469621001/ "Recreation Gift Co" just recently opened its doors in Downtown Newark as the revitalization continues to boom. Now that the Restaurant/Bar and Residential phases have already been in progress, hopefully the next phase of new business will contain Retail. The construction of the newest round-a-bouts on 4th street are creating a little headache, but when that's completed, it will add even more charm to downtown. I recently spoke to some "in the know" people over the weekend who let me in on some really really cool ideas for the annual "Courthouse Lighting" and how the city is looking to possibly expand and build on that momentum...possibly even create a festival from Black Friday all the way to the New Year. THAT would be super cool!! Anyway, here's to wishing the newest business good fortune and long lasting business!!
  22. I actually believe its a joint venture of about 5-10 people...all of whom are invested in the Arts part of it IIRC. Musicians/producers, painters, photographers etc...its literally a "School of Rock" type of adventure on the other side of the property. I need to find some pictures of that side. As a side note...all of the old vacant properties on the two floors above NOCA are under construction and being turned into amazing loft style apartments adding even more housing for downtown. Its a great time for the city...truly is!!
  23. Just saw that the new development right next to Thirty One West, called the Newark Organization for the Creative Arts, or NOCA for short, just opened. This property has sat vacant pretty much my entire life. This adds to the complete and amazing transformation of the Church St corridor in Downtown Newark. This place looks super cool!! It has a "School of Rock" vibe for local youth and doubles as a music store for vinyls and such. Going to be a GREAT addition to the Greater Newark Area. Newark's redevelopment is nothing short of amazing!! Thrilled this property was renovated and restored. I'm sure in a few years, this place will have 3x more of the Vinyl Records as they grow. Very cool to see!! https://www.facebook.com/nocapresents/ This is the property before restoration: This is the property after restoration:
  24. 45 mins is being a little long these days. Its only 18 mins from Newark to New Albany with 161 being 4 lanes now.
