Same. They have to be counting the one below ground garage floor as one of the 14.

Important quote from the article: ”Sobczak told Columbus Underground that he expects to bring the project back to the commission in September, and that he’s optimistic it will be approved, despite the delays; “I think we’ll find a good solution for everyone involved.” “We’ve got a path forward we’re comfortable with,” he added, explaining that his team is currently working on implementing suggestions from the commission related to noise mitigation and improved screening along the northern edge of the property.” I hope this gets approved. Or something at least. That vacant property is quickly becoming an eyesore, and more housing is rarely a bad idea.

Cool. We need more investment in that stretch. Also, looks like the Dispatch article was updated to say 14 stories now.

I’ve driven by several times, but haven’t been able to tell if the third residential building west of the office building that’s supposed to be part of Phase One has started yet?

Office leasing in Central Ohio: Employers clamor for amenities as they compete with home offices “Nearly 18 months into the Covid-19 pandemic, office leasing activity is starting to pick up again in Central Ohio and employers continue to move to "quality" locations, according to data from JLL. JLL's second-quarter Columbus office outlook report found that leasing activity is accelerating, especially in the suburbs. "Flight to quality," the idea that office tenants are seeking buildings with more amenities to entice their employees to return to the office, remains prevalent, according to the firm.” https://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2021/07/19/jll-office-leasing-report.html?ana=TRUEANTHEMFB_CO&csrc=6398&utm_campaign=trueAnthem%3A+Trending+Content&utm_medium=trueAnthem&utm_source=facebook&fbclid=IwAR3hXNunED6kSOG95EahcIFXgDakfbV1FdZlU6Hj26MBgl4Yp_TMygO6rng Some good news for office space, not as much good news for the CBD. Hopefully that changes as renovations/new builds continue.

Columbus: Downtown: Lower.com Field / Astor Park
I think they may have to play around with the ticket pricing some. I had become a casual fan several years ago just because it was something fun to do in the summer and ticket prices were relatively cheap, despite the location not being quite so ideal. Now it’s in a great stadium in a great location, but even the cheapest seats are >$50 after taxes and fees, so that deters some of the folks who attended the old stadium, especially those bringing the whole family. And I think it’s a deterrent to many, like past me, who would go just for something fun and cheap to do during the week. I think cheap seats in the $30s would be more appropriate. I have a partial season package, but it’s been challenging at times to find people who aren’t diehards who are willing to pay >$50. Unless I’m paying, anyway 🤣

amped91 replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionMore affordable housing in the area is a good thing, but you have to laugh at the developer’s counter to loss of decent paying jobs is to say that there will be retail space. Sounds a bit out of touch. ETA: I don’t know enough about this particular scenario to know whether it actually will in fact impact the current jobs that are nearby.

Columbus: Weinland Park Developments and News
A little background on the work to get this project through the approval process. Unique Process Has Guided Weinland Park Development Proposal “Included in that MOU is a height limit of 70 feet, some general design guidelines (like a pedestrian-friendly facade along East Seventh Avenue), and a commitment to hire minority businesses when possible. Also included is a commitment to provide relocation assistance to tenants of the existing apartment buildings before the start of construction, and a promise that 20% of the new building’s units will meet the affordability requirements laid out by the city’s tax abatement policies.” https://www.columbusunderground.com/unique-process-has-guided-weinland-park-development-proposal-bw1/?fbclid=IwAR1Fl2dfmYTPLl3E6AYok4Bhc9PHkSyMi8jOyyN_OmxCFo4nluYx56z_SIc

I didn’t get to see that part because paywall. So that’s good to hear at least! For the sake of the CBD, I’m really hoping office comes back, or we figure out some sort of new use for that space.

Delaware County: Developments and News
amped91 replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionThat corridor is growing so rapidly, by the time any improvements are completed, it's already time to expand again, just like with the costly express lane that opened a few years ago. I had to drive up through 23 to Delaware yesterday, and it's a headache. If mass transit were a real option, I would definitely take advantage of it.

This bit of graffiti next to the site of River and Rich 2.0 made me chuckle. Glad to be part of a city that’s constantly growing and evolving, though!- Grandview Heights: Grandview Yard
