Columbus: Mayor Andrew Ginther
^I’m glad he mentioned the LinkUs funding would be on the 2024 ballot. That—a presidential election year—is probably the best time to attempt it, especially if they can get the FCDP to endorse it.

Grandview Heights: Grandview Yard
amped91 replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionNot great pics, but snapped a couple while I was over here today. Outlot build (I believe a BoA branch and restaurant space): Progress on the newest apartment building: Anyone know if something is planned here, the empty space next to the parking garage at the corner of Bobcat and First? The site had been cleared as if it were being prepped for construction.

New Albany: Developments and News
amped91 replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionSpoiler alert: no (public) plans yet. With New Albany land in hand, OhioHealth eyes Canal Winchester and Sunbury purchases to grow suburban holdings “OhioHealth quietly bought 57 acres in November 2020 from the New Albany Company at Beech Road and Route 161, the center of the city's Licking County business park, according to property records. So far it has spent $12 million on the acquisition, according to the system. CEO Steve Markovich told Columbus Business Firstthat he could not predict what or when OhioHealth would build anything there. "We have a strategy based on keeping care close to home," Markovich said in an interview. "You should never be more than 10 minutes away from an OhioHealth emergency department, and never more than 20 minutes from a hospital." Markovich also said the system is acquiring land in Sunbury and Canal Winchester. Those purchases have not closed, a spokesman said later, so the locations are not public.” https://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2023/03/20/ohiohealth-new-albany-land.html

Columbus: Downtown: Discovery District / Warehouse District / CSCC / CCAD Developments and News
amped91 replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionSomeone had started a thread for it last year, but one of the mods folded it back into this one 😂 I believe this is the proposal that @cbussoccerwas talking about: https://the-cwd.com/260-e-naghten-street/ I really like the look of that. Even if most of the warehouse were demolished and just the front facade were preserved, I think it could look really handsome.

Columbus: Franklinton Developments and News
An explanation for the delay, and the massing change, from the Dispatch: 'The narrative has flipped' on Franklinton as developer proposes new apartment complex “The $11 million apartment complex, to be called Whitechapel, would include three ground-level apartments that open to the street, topped by 39 apartments, most of them one-bedroom with a few two-bedroom units. Most apartments would include balconies. Arch City proposed the project last year before discovering that the Ohio Department of Transportation had a right-of-way on the west side of the site. "ODOT said you can remove the right-of-way but it would have taken two years, so we shifted the building a little to the east and north," said Higgins. "We were able to keep it the same size and number of units. All we lost was time and money." Higgins said he hopes to start work on Whitechapel this year, assuming the project is approved. The East Franklinton Review Board is scheduled to discuss the proposal at its Wednesday meeting.“ https://www.dispatch.com/story/business/2023/03/20/new-apartment-complex-sign-of-growth-for-franklinton-area/70020311007/

Gahanna: Developments and News
Rosen USA proposes expansion project in Gahanna “A Houston-based company is looking to expand its Gahanna operation with a new warehouse building and associated improvements. Rosen USA, which develops, produces and operates inspection devices for pipelines and other systems in the oil and gas industry, wants to build a 45,500-square-foot tool warehouse just south of its primary structure at 1195 Technology Dr. in Gahanna. The warehouse would be used for Rosen's pipeline inspection tools, according to documents submitted to the city. In addition to the new warehouse, Rosen is planning approximately 75,000 square feet of hardscape improvements on the 5.5-acre site. Those improvements include an expanded employee parking lot with 68 additional spaces, for a total of 108 spaces. A further expansion of the company's equipment storage yard also is included in the proposal, as is the removal of 2,800 square feet of pre-fabricated structures located in its current equipment yard. Rosen is requesting approval of a final development plan, design review, conditional use and variance applications for the new warehouse and related improvements. Gahanna Planning Commission staff are recommending approval of all four applications as submitted. Those applications will officially be considered at a commission meeting Wednesday.” https://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2023/03/20/rosen-usa-plans-expansion-gahanna.html

Central Ohio Metro Parks / Columbus Recreation & Parks
This is from a CU article from two years ago, so I’m not sure if anything has changed since then. But I imagine the general location is still accurate. https://columbusunderground.com/franklinton-trail-park-plans-moving-forward-bw1/ With the Greenway connection, it should be a lot easier/safer to walk/bike to Astor Park from Franklinton once this is built.

amped91 replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionI love Freedom. amped91 replied to Summit Street's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionOh wow, please let this happen. I see this building all the time, and every time I pass by I wish that someone would restore it. It’s too bad it’s fallen into such disrepair, but I think it could be quite handsome again. Condos would be nice. Or even part condos/part hotel, to bring back some of its original use.
