Cleveland: Random Photos
Eek...why would they use that “stretch” lens on that “view”? I know real estate agents use those types of pics to mislead folks that rooms etc are bigger than they are...that parking lot shot will limit interest. anyway at least some of that tundra will be gone...someday.

Cleveland: General Business & Economic News
Ehh...1920s CLE vs. 2020s CLE? Top 5 city then, now ranked about top 53, and the poorest now. Half billion govt $$ coming into CLE...that will be interesting to say the least lol. WEWS still uses the old racist term “Spanish Flu”. Unbelievable.

Unfortunately the reviews for this flick aren’t good...but this advert is!

Cleveland: Downtown: John Hartness Brown Buildings / Euclid Grand
What is the aesthetic for JHB to fill these ground floor spaces?

Cleveland: Downtown: John Hartness Brown Buildings / Euclid Grand
That’s why I said May 30 was the last straw for Geiger’s as well as it probably wasn’t doing great. At least it lasted longer than Dredgers Union 1 year run...10 years ago. Hope this JHB development can fill with something other than a bank branch or cell phone store.

Cleveland: Downtown: John Hartness Brown Buildings / Euclid Grand
Well, the idiotic destructive looting spree on May 30 was the final straw for Geiger’s. Probably wasn’t doing great but this location was there for several years but until post- May 30 never heard anything about Geiger’s permanent closing. Everyone should be glad that the attempted arson fires on May 30 remained as attempts because the report for this idiocy was full of attempted arsons in commercial retail spaces up and down Euclid. Obviously Geiger’s was hit hard, one of the few downtown clothing retailers. Shame it’s gone.

Did you think this hot market would end in 1 day?

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
This was a residential development design though, right?

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
But I was commenting specifically about the post stating that SW is old, stodgy..deserving of ridicule and unending mockery...that the masses would not want work in...all based on design floor space give n take speculation. we were also told design delayed into mid ‘22 without a reason...I opined that perhaps SW may want to review space needs post pandemic...response “sh!t happens”...thread locked. shortly thereafter, SW announces design plans to be released during 2nd half of this year. the mod did state..until there is news...other than a graphic layout...then the design plans for later this year.

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
No plans, drawings, or even a sketch of any details have been announced or otherwise released. It’s fine to criticize but what is being criticized here that has any basis in reality? People criticized, for example, the rumor of a low rise HQ building on the Jacobs lot...now the HQ is on the w 3rd lot...trashing a local Fortune 500 based on rumors is, to put it simply, not fair. has SW actually done something yet to warrant criticism of its unannounced HQ plans-details? is there any actual news? That was the premise going forward when the thread closed.

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
Yet it’s all still speculation, rumor, and other assorted no real news. If all this comes to pass when plans aka real news is release, then criticism will at least have a basis.

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
this post is way too premature. Besides, I thought this thread was recently closed due to no real news despite it having a 14 year history limited to any real news the last 15 months or so. to now bash a 150 year old Fortune 500 committing to building its HQ and expanding jobs in long downtrodden CLE based on speculation about a lack of exposed bricks and ducts office motifs and too high-low cubicle sides...all without even a sketch drawing of what CLE is getting on any level. the CLE-SEA comparison is not appropriate as well. Remember, SW is a paint company.

The “good” news here is that CLE’s poverty rate has been dropping the past few years, at least pre COVID. Detroit’s poverty rate declined at a faster pace than CLE’s as Motown had the highest rate for many years. Ohio has 2 cities in the top 10 poorest big cities with CIN in the ranks as well.

Cleveland: Historic Photos
Regardless, a long ago era in Cleveland. Couple of those young ladies’ outfits look later in the decade; really didn’t see women’s’ bare midriffs/backs in jeans. probably used some mixed dated video for this video. anyway, downtown busy with daytime pedestrians and crowded rapid transit trains. Still good downtown shopping but in decline despite the still busy sidewalks. how about that toxic masculinity traffic cop checking out and rating the dames? lol

Cleveland: Historic Photos
I was responding to a post that this video is from the early ‘60s. Definitely late ‘60s though, looks like it’s 1968 -1969. Downtown was busy, especially during evening rush hours. It was the real deal Flats back then and this was the River fire and the birth of the “Cleveland jokes” eras....oh, and the destructive race riots era as well.
