Not all set to build on these lots before Valspar acquisition considering SW purchased them in 2019 but point taken otherwise. we heard some SW folks pushed back on “not tall enough” HQ building design plans and that these plans were going to be tweaked up a bit. If true, there are plans which is why we should have seen plans this winter into spring. now we’re told not to expect design plans for another year, into 2022. something is up here. No way does it take this long to see design plans, especially, if true regarding blowback about design plans already presented in house to SW. Even if not true, considering the development team was set this past September (could have a lot earlier), no excuse to not have design plans by, at a minimum, this spring. SW is stalling this project and using the delay in design plans to cover it. Not cancelling it but delayed for a real possible wait n see for the post-Covid reality of actual and final office space requirements. Certainly can’t be ruled out otherwise why aren’t we going to see dirt turning by this summer (‘21) instead of the now expected summer ‘22?

Columbus: Crime & Safety Discussion
So did I read correctly that Columbus is already over 20+ homicides this year? Reading further, this deadly gun violence exploded over the summer. COL homicides down March-May initial lockdown then exploded and remains on-going. Even cities that didn’t see a spring 2020 homicide slow down have seen an explosion of homicides since the summer. Pandemic is taking the blame in many big cities (Philly 50 January homicides-pandemic, Chicago 51 January murders-pandemic). The pandemic is not to blame though. What is causing the COL violence? On track for 240-250 homicides in 2021? Wow.

At this point, we just wait for SW to announce its final plans, whenever that happens. This thread is in its 14th year initially about developing the PS Jacobs lot that has morphed into SW HQ. We’ve been through short, tall, medium sized bldgs,, R&D here, there, now going to Brecksville. This parcel, that lot, now going maybe here. Rumor of this, rumor of that. Rivaling Key Tower, now a 50K-80K sf CoE on PS. Whatever. Now back to “square” one default thinking...”at least those empty scars of parking lots will be developed”. Which is a good thing of course. What is a concern though is the extended 2025 completion date. Evaluating design options is taking this long and isn’t expected until mid’22 or so. SW could also be evaluating its office space needs as well, especially post-pandemic. Lots of companies, firms etc are reevaluating space needs and many are cutting space due to how smoothly remote work went and the desire of many workers to not return to full time, if at all, daily in-house work. The sooner SW commits to its final plans the better; strung out time commitments may backfire for CLE, not SW, a “revered” PS setting or not. not saying this is the reason for the most recent delay but it certainly can’t be ruled out as we move into a post pandemic reality. Nothing is off the table until we see SW final plans and shovels turning dirt. still hoping for at least a 600’ tower...on any of these lots. I was hoping to see final plans by this spring/early summer. Add a year+ to this timeframe because of the need for an extended “design”? Hmm...

So the latest rumor is an itty-bitty CoE on the Square and the big building on w3-Superior lot, all exclusively for SW employees. Perhaps a retail-storefront on W 3, no doubt a fast-casual, yet trendy, yet still generic, food joint. Should do well though given the high concentration of workers and area residents. I wasn’t expecting any ground floor retail on any sides of the big blocks; why would SW want to deal with a retail component? Now that this CoE is SW only, most access will be on W 3; foot traffic from HQ to CoE. PS will get a boost just having SW there but the hoped additional foot traffic will be limited without a pull to that quadrant. Talk about a 180 from the Weston plans. Now the whole thing is stretched to a 2025 opening-occupancy. Hope those additional 500 are really coming. so now that the public isn’t getting in, will the public have decent to excellent access thru this emerging corporate campus? CLE needs to get an excellent public pedestrian connection from PS to the WHD-East Bank Flats out of this. Wonder what they’ll do with the Frankfort Alley?

NBA: General News & Discussion
Right. Remember Kylie wanted to fly solo and lead his own team...why would he stay with LeBron for another ring or 2...so Kyrie is set up to lead the Celtics, a renowned NBA team. Well, that flopped. Plus weirdo Kyrie didn’t show in CLE during subsequent Celtics@Cavs games. Now this whack job is in Brooklyn and now is surrounded by Durant & Harden..lol. Kyrie won’t last in this Nets set up... even the Knicks passed on him cuz of his unstable behavior. Buys George Floyd’s family a friggin house...supposedly couldn’t play, show up, or even notify Nets management, let alone his coach for 2 weeks, cuz of the Capitol Jan 6 goings on...lol. you can’t make this stuff up. Where are the adults in this situation to check this emotional 10 year old disguised as a 27 year old man?

To add, why hasn’t grandpops Big Frank hooked this grandson up with a cushy city job? After all he set Lance Mason up with one; at least until Mason stabbed his ex wife to death on her home driveway in front of their young daughters

Love how the cop has to explain why there are 2 cops present. One would think FJQ would know the ropes by now with cops given his long term crime history and violent behavior. geez Frank Q, just let the cops search your ride...you initially said yes and the you start your well learned game playing. just a small sampling of what cops deal with every shift. dragging a cop and then a high speed chase? For what? simple case of not cooperating or otherwise being compliant. Surprised to see this given that it doesn’t fit the racist and black killing white cop narrative. Lucky no one was in FQJ’s ride filming and posting out of context snippets so cops look like racist nazi aggressors victimizing black folks...at least until the cop body-cam video is released. FQJ needs some jail time. Where are his parents? Why is grandpops Mayor Frank stuck dealingwith this POS?- Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
SW should enhance general public and customer access and activities to a PS location, especially if there are other means of employee ingress/egress, say on W 3rd. A public interactive-educational component and a full service retail location would enhance activity as well. This would be a real gift to the community. That’s all fine and good that employees and other folks doing corporate business may utilize a training center but any of the blocks, including PS, around the site need pedestrian activity. not sure what is meant by your positive #2 though.- Cleveland: Hotels, Conventions, and Tourism News & Info
They would have expanded their horizons at CLE’s loss but consider the key fact in the post topic is “prices to fly and stay much more affordable”. The local/regional economies need as much out of town/non-local green($) dollars as possible...bring it! Enjoy limiting your horizons in way more bang for your buck Cleveland! it is funny though...but CLE should promote winter visits, “skiing” included. Vast areas of the Midwest, especially CST zone prairie states don’t even have an incline let alone what CLE has within its area and to its east (real mountains) within a couple+ hours.- Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
What would you like SW to build directly on PS that will draw people generally and enhance activity on PS in particular?- Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
Absolutely times change regarding rope courses, paintball (ironic) turf, hookahs etc being implemented for employees. No problem. Adults employees needing constant fun activities at work...whatever. but the old and common sense planning of drawing people in will always work, if done right. What you list-mention is for employees; again, no public allowed. Cool hdq lobby sidewalk fronting PS still a dead zone; real cool yet locked down secure lobby is of no public use or enjoyment. Meanwhile upstairs 35 year olds are playing paintball games...btw, leading edge of millennials are now entering their ‘40s. That said, SW hdqs should still include a public draw from the street level. What you mention is valid but completely separate from the on going “public use/access/draw” being discussed.- Cleveland: West Side Market News & Info
Philly’s non profit managed Reading Market Terminal (RMT) just announced its new manager this weekend after hiring the previous one (8) months ago. Dude couldn’t cut-it during COVID so he’s gone..in 8 months. Just like it used to be in business, low job performance and it’s time to move on. city managed urban market (CLE) with an inept manager 5+ years vs. non profit managed urban market (PHL) with a didn’t cut it in 8 months(cuz 8 months isn’t quite to inept level). kudos to RMT for at least trying to preempt additional damage to this civic gem. 50,000 weekend visitors at RMT pre-COVID btw. I currently prefer RMT over the WSM. Don’t see a lot of turn over, empty stands, or public drama ie. vendors vs. management. Meanwhile in CLE...how many WSM vendors gone just in the last month? All stating that issues pre dated COVID as we have a (5)+ year “manager” that looks below par on paper and a complete failure in hands-on results. what is the city’s real motivation here? Why is it tolerating a manager who hasn’t even addressed the 2015 issues and has “managed” to only tick-off vendors, and long-term ones to boot? Why is the city deliberately letting this national gem deteriorate?- Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
There should be a public draw to this quadrant of the Square...one that works, unlike 200 Public Square and the Galleria (although the Galleria and The Avenue are different animals and failed for other reasons). so while the generic name of paint museum is tossed around the idea of a ground level public draw on the Square should be mandatory; SW training facility, event and meeting space is fine but a public component with perhaps interactive education, history, and “fun” could work along with a SW retail store. School field trips, tourists etc could visit. Lots of collateral benefits to the entire Square. anything beats a secured dead zone building lobby fronting directly on the Square for occasional SW employee access 9-5 M-F and a complete dead zone otherwise.- Cleveland: Retail News
and throw in alcohol and the doggie discipline adjusts downward accordingly. Dog owners getting publicly loaded with their doggies at bark bars...then again, dogs are replacing human companionship so why not go drinking with your best friend as they’re also allowed in hotels and retail establishments and join al fresco dining tables so why not open a specific themed doggie bar. There must be a demand for this, at least initially.- Cleveland: Detroit-Shoreway / Gordon Square Arts District: Development News
That can happen when someone doesn’t like or allow people to speak or otherwise have an opinion. Something one should respect by high school age. It’s unbelievable you were booted for even having an opinion let alone voicing it. Hopefully you weren’t called condescending childish “names” or otherwise summarily dismissed as an unaccomplished misfit who never succeeded at anything other attending a block meeting because someone didn’t like what you said. Hopefully no one has any of your contact info otherwise you could receive some angry, unhinged-name calling messages. this parcel would make a great neighborhood park, perhaps even one of those “smart parks”. Should be a perfect fit for the in coming residents and their dogs.- Cleveland: Downtown: John Hartness Brown Buildings / Euclid Grand
I agree that the neon signage may be a bit tacky but to tear down this block would be a tragic mistake. The same reasoning was in part used for the proposal to tear down the playhouse square theaters...imagine that. Cleveland’s hasn’t been a city that can tear down buildings, especially historic ones, and count on any fill in development, even if development is planned. See also Hippodrome and Jacobs parcels as just 2 glaring example, both empty lots for 40 and 31 years respectively. also, not happy with the 1st floor retail windows etc. and the eastern most bldg isn’t looking that great. Interested in seeing what “retail” comes in here and on the rest of Euclid for that matter.- Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
So will the SW hdq building lobby front directly on public square? If so, expect a secure building lobby pretty much cut-off from the public. Look at the dead zones created at key tower, 200 & 55 public square. Even the revered Tower City isn’t much of a public draw anymore. The Casino? Well... I don’t really have a problem so far about SW using the Jacobs parcel for some kind of paint museum open to the public to be used, at times perhaps, as a private event space. im kind of liking the 1,000,000 sf hdqs building sitting on the w3 lot with a for the public “event” space directly on the Square. Hdqs bldg directly on the Square will be strictly used for SW employees access...dead after 5 pm and weekends. Look at the planning disaster known as E 9th street.- NBA: General News & Discussion

Hmm...so seeing this video and reading up on this dude’s bio and work history I’m not “sold” yet that he should be ‘da mayor. definitely has Obama-esque feel and then he mentioned he worked for senator Obama...makes sense. sells an inclusive bells-n-whistles package ie. raised by single mom and grandma story but the absent (?) dad was a cop...he mentions him so there’s a connection...so he wasn’t poor despite the “struggle” story. Didn’t go to Cleveland public schools... lots of job hopping...VP of Corp Stategy at KeyBank for a year, worked as a county prosecutor, this n that, now head of Urbanova using Spokane WA as its central city to test things like monitors on street poles and “smart parks”. Are CLE’s issues comparable to, as Bibb states, “the disadvantaged areas of Spokane” a city with 1.6% black population. All these non -profits he started or worked at..he’s in every pic...he’s in sales and his biggest product is himself...too vague on any policies but then again today having any policy/ies is no longer a requirement to win an election anymore. Guess which companies will be providing CLE with “smart parks”, light pole monitors, and any “data” driven reporting? is data gathering and reporting from light poles monitoring pollution levels a top CLE issue? was part of that ClevelandRising also known as a corporate PR event turned useless fiasco as a rep for KeyBank. appointed to boards etc...yet the bio is full of “introduced this group to that group” also known as really vague... I get self-promotion but this guy is thin on results unless having multiple jobs in a short window is a qualification. what has he done at RTA?...something CLE and the region really need to be concerned about in addition to the highest “big city” poverty rate, decades of city-county-MSA-CSA population decline. Not on this bandwagon...yet at least. Living in CLE currently but not certain I’ll stay or be here for the November elections...primaries most likely.- Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
