  1. I get delays to a point as we head into our 9th month of remote work. then a mid November ground breaking shouldn’t have been provided in late August factoring in the “remote work delay” line being used in mid November because there’s no ground breaking. but it’s real estate and real estate folks are full of unrealistic, to be nice, “puffery.” not worried about this project as it’s a believable “all the subs aren’t lined up” status update. Unless it has nothing to do with remote or subs...hope not. as far as full time office work again, emails are sent cubicle to cubicle anyway and in house meetings etc can be scheduled so the at homes can plan. Besides, if you live and work downtown do you really need to be in house full time? looking forward to this desperately needed infill project 100%. we’ll see...
  2. What does Heinen’s charge in the suburbs? Are you surprised downtown prices might be a bit higher?
  3. You’re way overthinking it...
  4. Hoping SW tower does, in fact, rival the height of Key Tower.
  5. But Arby’s is a restaurant and before that it was a Steak ‘n Shake...before that it was a bobs big boy and before that it was a Manner’s, so it’s not like an Arby’s is replacing a Prada location..lol...a park here means no one is interested in developing anything else. this location always had a not top notch eating spot for decades and decades...way back. hell, even the Arby’s you disparaged passed on this location
  6. Reading this thread it’s interesting that people living around Impett consider themselves living in Kamms. Kamms corners used to be a limited area within the larger what is now called West Park. Folks living up by Impett etc never wanted to be associated with Kamms Corners. so while the Arby’s is in Kamms, the West Park station development is not Kamms nor is Warren Village/Impett Park area.
  7. It’s still way better than a friggin park on Lorain avenue
  8. With one of Kamms selling points being adjacent to the vast metropark, more commercial development is needed instead of a new small park directly on Lorain avenue.
  9. OK, I just saw this post. yes, CLE poverty rate dropping past few years.
  10. Yet, even though the poorest in U.S., isn’t a 30.8% poverty rate a decent decline for CLE?
  11. Actually if you follow..my response is to CleveFan stating this is politics. If it’s about no black contractors, it’s race politics. further, it’s not just an objection by these local folks, it’s a request to pull approved aid from the entire project. It’s beyond questioning, it’s an attempt to jeopardize the entire project. Big difference.
  12. Good old fashioned Cleveland race politics.
  13. CLENYC replied to tastybunns's post in a topic in City Discussion
Classic ‘70s Cleveland mafia folks...good old school working class ethnic CLE accents throughout this video...back when CLE was the bombing capitol of the U.S...the Cleveland Car Bomb era. Danny Green had a classic CLE..little bit Great Lakes, little bit East coast A few classic CLE movies are Kill the Irishman (Danny Green), Welcme to Collinwood, and way back to The Fortune Cookie (Walter Matthau-Jack Lemmon). https://youtu.be/mnY6-3akCsU i grew up in working class CLE, folks in Philly thought I was from Boston...took a while to break the whole “so both a’yuzz are going” and “all’yuzz” or “the both a’yuzz”...still can go there, especially if in a heated discussion or argument lol
  14. Kamms Corners has a 6-figure median income?
  15. This guy was fired over this? Career over? terms like colored, negro are old and out of date terms but someone makes a misstep using one and it’s game over?...literally. Are these terms “banned”.. person of Color is OK? Isn’t Kamala being celebrated as the first person of color on a ticket? maybe he read the person of color term and said wrong? Whatever.. harsh punishment.
  16. Yeah, unfortunately there isn’t anything new going on in Kamms. Reviewing this thread looked promising until about 2013 then hit skip until 2017. message received...no news=no posts, unfortunately.
  17. isn’t there a difference between TOD and TSD (transit served decelopement)? The Tower City redevelopment in 1990 would be considered TOD while, say, the new Markey Square development at Lorain/W25 would be TSD.
  18. The plaza itself, as in Kamms Plaza, isn’t bad as I recall seeing only one vacancy but the streets and sidewalks it the area can be rough. Housing stock looks OK, some being maintained better than others. Gun homicide recently on w 152 not good.
  19. Been reading up on this thread. This is an amazing project, especially for this forlorn part of town. I’m skeptical about these racism storIe’s at Turner’s projects in CIN, COL, and CLE all in a week at the largest projects in each city with large separate headlines announcing a construction halt until all workers attend sensitivity training in all three Ohio cities. No details other than racist graffiti in port-a-potties at each site. Anyway, a great hospital with a great new main campus complementing, expanding, and anchoring the area south oh Ohio City. Looking good.
  20. This does bring a nice updated look to this area. The 2222 Detroit condo bldg is looking real dated; contemporary when built but not looking great now especially compared to this new tower. All views from this new tower will be great.
  21. Just came across this..love it. The old blue “cattle cars” 5 linked long trains were the best...except for the breakdowns lol. Reading some of those posts reminded me of how as young kids we were on the buses and trains without parents knowing where we were lol. Too many people today focus on the negative aspects of Cleveland’s past like this racist white flight mantra, unless you were there, one has no room to talk. Sorry anyone missed out growing up in the city during this era.
  22. This is nice and great to see this Manhattan-ish block finally restored. I worked in the what is now called 925 Euclid (?) building. Too bad the Geigers was looted,, hope it reopens. Very cool area from E 9 all the way to CSU.
  23. Thanks! Grew up in the city and have family and friends here so I know the city well obviously and visited regularly while living out of town. Being here 3 weeks solid now has been a bit of an adjustment, the car of course but grew up on using the rapid and buses here. The transit situation has changed here as well. May end up staying in the area but am skittish after living through the fiasco last month and the deteriorating situation in New York but glad to be out of there for sure.
