What's the point of the city trying to reduce or take away parking minimums but then allowing developers exceed minimum requirements? Isn't that just having laws on the books that mean well but are ignored while the problems persists? Was this done because foolish people are screeching about something being built as they always do anyways? Maybe it needs reiterated but I can't understand the backlash against this development when like you said, Asia town is pretty quiet these days. I will Say I am happy to see the other parking get mostly used up it could have been a hole stuck that way for who knows how long.

Goes to show just how beholden to lobbyists and moneyed interest our stage legislature is. I appreciate the work All Aboard Ohio is doing. Getting people active and cognizant of local politics would have a greater impact than screaming into the void down in DC.

Here's the thing, we really don't have to "look like anywhere else". I'm totally pontificating here.. Columbus is building a really nice looking neo-neo art deco structure, a suburb just outside of Chicago built their downtown area up with a good number of more stylistically traditional structures if i remember right. There are plenty more examples around the nation, im pretty North Charleston is a good one to check out. We can build in a way that preserves and even expands our regional identity, i can't see why we have to have these modern, generally kinda ugly buildings antithetical to cleveland. I don't know what it looks like trying to pull together a bloc of public support saying "hey you, build like this!" , but it'd sure be cool. As far as industrial structures, like the power plant that's being demolished, I've always wondered if we couldn't still have some of those decorative old school elements instead of grey boxes and only Grey boxes. I'm not asking for fake smokestacks, but I'm not saying no either.

CH is still losing population, correct? I could be totally off base but it seems to me there is a lot of incompetence, lack of a clear, cohesive mission for the city that satisfies most residents. Like so many places around America and even its very neighbor, Cleveland, it is wasting its great potential and constantly blundering. One day theyre going to wake up ask themselves "how did things get so bad and when did we get here?" I hope Cleveland Heights citizens manage to better elect a succession of capable officials cause it and Lakewood are like one step forward, 2 to the side and 1 back. Maybe i dont know nothing and I dont mind being told so but it is my perception of things. Severance derailed next?

To add to this previous administrations didnt seem to prioritize readying land for new ventures. The unusable structures that were cleared in the past seemed to be very piecemeal, uncoordinated and the land required for modern uses cant do much with the smaller parcels of early 20th century industrialization that a lot fo Cleveland was left with. The work the Land Bank and Bibbs admin are doing now, i forget the name its going by, the city will have larger consolidated land and maybe even some repurposed classic industrial buildings. This should have happened much sooner, but its happening now and thats what matters.

Bub you gotta balance yourself out. There ae so many new enterprises in the last 10-20 years. Maybe theyre not as big as a 40yr old successful brewery but your vision is stuck in the past and your missing whats right in front of you.

I freaking love the work being done for African Town Plaza. I really do hope even more beautiful structures find loving owners

CVSR... I know i shouldnt get excited but I could use some good news on the rail side of things

I love the potential of this Lil guy. I know it's not going to happen but every single night I get into my jammies and pray that this building is going to be an all brick facade. I don't even look at the design docs in fear of ruining the fantasy. Bad jokes aside imagine having deep red brick, green trees and then the water. To me it creates a very scenic view, andI really wish the city pushed them to not do the drab beige, white and Grey materials. All in all I am happy to see this development it's a huge step.

I should been clearer, I assume nothing is ever truly brick but the facade in the renderings have that 1/4" brick and I think it looked great

I really do enjoy the design of the houses they're building, I'd love to see them in person to see how well they translated from the rendering. I'm hoping there will be quite a few of those brick facade homes within all the ones planned, they fit so well into the cleveland aesthetic . Not those ranch style modular homes in Collinwood? Eh not so much but that's for a different thread.

This conversation seems to never change. I feel like i could go back to discussions 15 years ago and itd be the same. Heres to hoping the Bibbs administration new building permits process will alleviate a lot of these sluggish adminsrative phases and also the requirements will be clearer because going back and forth 15 different times is just ludicrous.

the responses are reassuring and I was definitely thinking it was a mix up of information but i couldnt help myself and had to ask the only ones whod know since we have no management till Tuesday or Wednesday.
