Cleveland: Park Lane Villa
Sorry to hear that; that's precisely what's happened in my building in the past year and a large part of why I am looking elsewhere. At times I feel like I'm back in the dorms. The bar still hasn't opened? That's interested -- I was told during my tour that it was going to open the following weekend. I wonder if they hit a last minute snag. Thanks for the info, tina.

Cleveland: HealthLine / Euclid Corridor
I'm continually impressed how diligently the construction workers are making progress, despite horrible weather, and am somewhat amazed it doesn't impact my driving routes much at all (as a Euclid Ave resident). Pedestrian pathways leave something to be desired, but overall, impressive.

Cleveland: Park Lane Villa
Well I didn't get any pictures worth posting, sorry. I really need to take a photography class or read a book one of these days. Anyway, the building is gorgeous. The prices are high, but seem justified considering the amenities and demand they will no doubt have. Here are some random observations: The ballroom will be sweet and the bar should be open to the public (i.e., not just residents) as of now if it opened on schedule. The concierge service seemed out of this world; included things like grocery shopping for you and putting the stuff away in your fridge for you, detailing your car, cleaning your unit and "pretty much anything else that's not illegal". The units I saw were very unique. Not mind blowingly so, but definitely way above average. Location couldn't be better, especially when the Silver/Health/Whatever Line gets rolling. The workout room was surprisingly adequate and the billiards room (one table, really good shape) was cool. Apparently they have monthly resident get togethers, which I thought sounded cool, I really wish I knew more people in my building. They're also dog friendly (save a few breeds with known temperament problems). One underground parking spot included with rent. In unit washer/dryer included (along with dishwasher and nice stove/fridge, of course). Overall, I'd sum it up with "spectacular". Unfortunately out of my price range -- the units I saw were ~1300 sq ft and going for ~$1800 / mo. For anybody looking in this range though, I can safely say you won't find anything else like it in Cleveland.

The Dating Thread
Geez, I don't see anything wrong with that picture (the first one, not the creepy juiced up carrot top one *shiver*). I mean personally I would be turned off from a profile that featured all glitzed up pics. I find some candid in-situ pics are nice even if they mean, god forbid, she might have some human being imperfections like some visible sweat or matted hair. I'm more interested in an honest representation of her typical look (with a couple nice ones in there as well, of course). To each their own, eh. Now I'm wondering if my match.com pic is coming up next with a "wow, look at this dork!"

Cleveland: NASA Glenn Research Center News & Info
I've seen these things in person, they're pretty cool. Even "just" as a simulator they still have extremely stringent manufacturing spec margins they need to meet, and the equipment to do so is really impressive. In addition to the water jet cutter they have what amounts to a laser guided rolling pin to ensure evenness of the exterior rocket components. Link to PD article

Cleveland: Steelyard Commons
Surprisingly I've never had any real problems getting over to the 176S Steelyard exist coming from downtown. Initially I thought I would constantly miss it, but an opening always seems to miraculously open up just as I'm approaching the point of no return. I am of course putting a double whammy jinx on myself by writing this. Oh well, I don't mind the W14th path. I don't think I have the courage to try jam40jeff's way, although it's intriguing.

Cleveland: Case Western Reserve University News & Info
^^ For undergrad (speaking as an Alum), I agree, it in no way compares. I would be interested to see a comparison of Case vs MIT and Cal Tech in terms of research dollars and whatever other relevant metrics there are for such comparisons, though. While it won't be able to match dollar-for-dollar, I'm guessing the gap may be smaller than you think. I could be totally wrong though. Go..... Spartans, right?

Cleveland: Park Lane Villa
I'm not sure if it's a regular thing or not, but their website says there's an open house this Sunday from 11am - 2pm. I'll try to take some pics to contribute to this thread.

Cleveland: University Circle: Cleveland Clinic Developments
^^ yeesh, my bad. Thanks MTS; I need to read the search results more thoroughly I see. It's a bit curious why it doesn't show up until the 4 or 5 result, but oh well.

Cleveland: Park Lane Villa
Has anyone checked out the Park Lane Villa in person? According to the website (http://www.parklanevilla.com) they have an open house this Sunday. The units look very nice, albeit pricey. Just curious if any UO folks had information/opinions on it.

CLEVELAND - Shame Shame I know your name!
Theresa's has done a really great job keeping their sidewalk clear. Rest of the area, not so much.

Assuming you've called, did they provide an explanation as to why other places are able to continue serving "water-based drinks"?

iPhone
^^I am ecstatic about this. Although 30% seems a bit hefty to me, it's just at that price point that I would probably put up with as a developer for the easy distribution and update channel they'll provide (that really seems to be Apple's genius; finding those just-barely-acceptable price points). The push Apple is making to become more "enterprise business" friendly (remote-wipe, Cisco VPN, Exchange compatibility) is wonderful as well and legitimizes it as a mobile platform. I personally am excited to play around with the SDK and start brain storming application ideas, which is a first. And I'm realizing there are far too many buzz words in this post. I'm not an Apple fanboy, I swear -- the iPhone is my first Apple product.

Every 30 miles, are you serious? Has this been model been adopted by any other large states? It sounds ridiculously inefficient on all sides.

CLEVELAND - Shame Shame I know your name!
Very happy to report that Theresa's and Jimmy John's have been clearing the sidewalk fairly well after this latest ice storm. Of course they are surrounded by ice (in front of WT Grant Bldg and the to-be Bang & Clatter), but it's nice to have a little oasis of dry land between them to collect yourself.

iPhone
I've had the same experience; quite understandable in the first few months but the fact that it stills happens really bothers me. That and the rumor that the SDK isn't really going to open it up to third-party apps, only "Apple approved" ones. I really hope that's not the case since I bought mine on good faith that they were moving to open it up (I'm not interested in jailbreaking).

Cleveland Eateries: A Where To Guide for Visitors and Residents
I had Royal Saffron for dinner once before they went dark. It was actually quite good, I'd be really happy if they ever came back.

Cleveland Eateries: A Where To Guide for Visitors and Residents
I agree with McCleveland -- I had a fantastic experience last week at Saigon both service and damn tastiness perspectives. Oh and it was my first experience with bubble tea. Holy crap, does anywhere else have this stuff? I'm addicted already and have been researching the various flavors. Supposedly "red bean" is fantastic (no joke) but they don't have it. I'll just have to slug my way through all their others I guess.

Cleveland: TV / Film Industry News
I agree they portrayed her really poorly, although I have to say I'm pulling for Shannon so I'm not sorry to see her go. ANTM is definitely a better show over all. The judges on Make Me A Supermodel are really bad (especially Tyson, does he really have to pretend to be such a hard ass? You're a male model dude) and the format/editing is just horrible. Oh, and I don't think this is exactly what was in mind for this thread but I thought it was funny (technically off-topic): "Cleveland" on map as "Family Guy" spin-off .
