  1. I know there have been favorable reviews before, but thought I'd throw in my hardy two thumbs up for the Indian restaurant in the Colonial Marketplace as well. (I'm embarrassed I can't think of the name right now, duh). The owners are characters too, in a good way.
  2. The Shield, Cleveland style.

I have to admit, my parents aren't the most political informed or plugged in individuals esp in regard to local government. They do have very strong (negative) feelings towards her, though. *shrug*

My parents are still in Bay Village and say Sutherland is a horrible mayor that's screwed up basically every project she's taken on. I'm sure she'll fit right in with the Hagan and Dimora

Given the tens of thousands of people the visit those malls in a given year those numbers are ridiculously minuscule and statistically identical. Aside from the rapes, there's nothing there news worthy.
  6. I heard they've gotten better from a friend with similar food tastes to my own as well. I was very disappointed with my first visit, to the point I haven't been back. I'll give them another shot. BTW, I forget where I heard it (maybe here?), but Rick Bayless used to chef at the original Lopez? That blew my mind, I love his show on PBS.
  7. I've only been to Wonder Bar once, but really liked it. The (very attractive, IMO) female bartender gave me a free Stella when I had to wait 5 minutes for them to switch out the keg. Maybe she realized her mistake and then was just embarrassed about it and tried to sneak it by you. I've done it.

I guess that's why they were such busters about raising my rent. My unit will be available as soon as I find a new place, although I can no longer recommend moving into the building.

    Seems reasonable to me.
  11. ^^ wow, those windows are awesome.
  12. It's about damn time an article like this has been written. I agree with KJP, it won't be a true fiasco until the site is sold and the county loses a significant amount of money (including time-value of money considerations).

I'm whining, but all these closures in this area at the same time are really screwing me the hard way. This is the first time I've really been impinged significantly by the construction though.

lol @ "sizing up your breeder hips" I would humbly suggest match.com (it's not as bad as you might think) or meetup.com to find some social groups of interest.
  15. I've always firmly believed that, god forbid, if there was ever any real incident in Tower City the security guards would be leading the charge out the door a la George Costanza. They could use a real upgrade.

If you're happy with dial up are you sure you even want to upgrade to high speed? If you decide you do your best option would probably be to keep the phone line then get AT&T DSL. Yes, it goes through your normal phone line and is just an additional charge on your phone bill (or it might be a separate bill, I'm not totally sure on this point). I think you can pay them a little extra to come out and install it for you, or if you're feeling brave you can self-install (it's not horribly difficult, although I can't say for sure without knowing your setup). I believe AT&T offers basic DSL for $15/month, but you might qualify for their $10/month plan as well -- see this link for more information.

If you don't want a phone line, cable high speed internet from Time Warner Cable will be your best option. Or you can get "naked" DSL which is DSL without phone service from somebody like Speakeasy (Link), but it's generally not as cost effective. It's a good question peabody bring up re: cable internet without cable tv. I'm such a TV addict I've never even considered this so I don't know. I guess another option worth mentioning is cell phone data networks are becoming more and more popular, like EVDO from Verizon. You buy a card you put in your laptop that gives you access wherever you go. Again, they're a little pricey I think (~$55 / mo).

maybe we need a BOTPASBSS (Back On Topic Please And Stop Being So Snooty) graphic.
  20. Hallelujah.
  21. Oh, just a lot more college kids which inevitably leads to more parties and junk in the hallways which isn't that horrible. Unfortunately it seems like some real punks have snuck in with the influx. There's been some car break ins in the garage (I was a victim, they stole my favorite Philip Glass CD damn them). Somebody ripped an electrical panel out of an elevator, smashed a mirror on my floor and other petty vandalism antics. Also one of the security guards was telling me that somebody has been throwing rocks off the roof for fun. Heads up! I guess nothing that bad, but it's all appeared within the last 3 months.
  22. The word has been that they've dramatically lowered their tenant qualifications to quickly boost occupancy in a bid to sell the building off yet again. I've seen some first hand evidence to back this up, unfortunately, and probably won't be sticking around much longer unless they clean it up. I have to say, though, the idea of one owner for the whole block sure sounds promising.

They've been working on "my" section between E9th and E12th both Saturday and Sunday this weekend. They seem to really be pushing to stick to schedule.
  24. Although not Cleveland related, I found this to be an interesting read regarding the hysteria surrounding recent increases in crime rates: http://freakonomics.blogs.nytimes.com/2007/09/28/the-next-crime-wave-is-upon-us-right/ From the blog of the guys that wrote the book Freakonomics (loved it).
