They've poured some concrete on my block between E12th and E9th. It appears to be a somewhat randomly selected spot to pour, but I'm sure there's a reason. I'm just praying it means they'll be pouring the rest sooner rather than later. I agree, it appears they have stepped it up a bit. Something should still be done about the crosswalks, though.

The Cleve since '84. Kansas, New Jersey and Indiana before that. Ahh the memories..

Oh Louis... Having become recently single again this is simultaneously heartening and terrifying.
  4. They were doing some cleanup a few months ago, but it stopped suddenly and I haven't seen anyone working on them since. I'd venture a GUESS that they're waiting at least for ECP to wrap up along this stretch of Euclid before doing any significant work. I'm sure there are other factors as well.
  5. Assaulted? As in raped? Mugged? Any details would be appreciated.

Yeesh, give the guy a break. He did say "Maybe". People are pouncing like rabid bobcats around here lately. P.S. Nice pics!

I recall Cleveland being listed as one of the top offenders in this regard by some AAA "study". I put study in quotes because it was more likely just some guy throwing darts at a map in a dark room somewhere. Regardless, yes -- it's annoying. I try not to turn and glare at the dawdlers as I pass them on the right. That tends to set the stage for a road rage encounter. The state troopers were patrolling for a few weeks last month and had a significant effect on driving behavior for the few miles stretch on 90 they were camped on. I imagine if we created a full time post here for them they could enforce more minor things like this. There was a good article about in the PD last month, but I'm not sure if it made it onto UO or not.
  8. Cool pics! Makes me want to check out the Goodtime actually.. I checked out the website -- was this a "Public Rush Hour - Happy Hour Cruise" (on Fridays from 6 - 8)? Does anybody know how packed they are generally?
  9. What's our confidence level that Wilma's not a robot? Ramona, IMO, is the classiest. I saw her get cat called by several very drunk men at a Cavs game a few years ago. The sheer effortless ease with which she simulatenously accepted the praise yet rejected their clumsy advances was astonishing.
  10. I think it's great there's an burgeoning area besides WHD for restaurants and entertainment. Gives us east-side downtowners something to do  It doesn't strike me as a particularly suburbanite crowd when I'm over there?
  11. Thanks for the pics, brings back lots of old memories for me. My grandpa used to have a candy store downtown, but it got razed and replaced by a senior living facility (I think?) It was a cool old building.
  12. Again, I think if the Commissioners had done their homework before going down this road they would've quickly identified the controversy it would embroil. The fact that this is a huge surprise to these guys speaks volumes about their competence. Nice move on the legal opinion front, very Bush-esque. It's worked so well for him hasn't it?

IMO, the occasional strip club mingled about with regular businesses doesn't bother me at all. I was just in DC this past weekend, and that's how they seemed to do it. I don't understand why a concentrated district is being discussed. For some reason that just strikes me as kind of gross.
  14. The vigor with which Mayor Jackson has been handling the various strip club issues is a little surprising. Not necessarily in a bad way, it's just interesting he's apparently not squeamish about the topic. That said, I think creating a "district" is pretty skeezy.
  15. The real question is how many $1 hot dogs did you cram

Nothing.. nooo-thing will ever be worse than Excalibur. For some reason I always end up having the most fun at Caesar's. Go figure. I have to admit, I dig the cheese factor.

The guys from Murphy's Law? I never really buy that excuse with projects on this scale. There should be a comprehensive risk identification and mitigation process in place. Can anyone shed some light on some of the multitude of reasons for slow progress? I'm not terribly frustrated with the construction yet, but I'm getting there.

The weird sculputure at Wynn gets even weirder if you stick around long enough. A giant head pops out of the water and they project faces on to it that look creepily lifelike. You can see a crappy video here if you like. Caesar's will always be my favorite. Did you see the animatronic show back among the shops? It's unbelievably cheesy. Thanks for the pictures.

Yeah.. I like Detroit, but c'mon. 4 World Series titles, 10 Stanley cups and 3 NBA championships. Cry me a river.
  20. Wow, I was totally in the dark about this plan (not an unusual event). Are there any details? E.g., will it be closed 24 hours a day, what about the parking garages on E4th, etc..?

is it 1993 again? Did you guys just complete a three game sweep of the brewers at County Stadium? My bad. Central. Yeesh.

^^^ I'm ecstatic the Cavs have made it to the finals. KJP, I think it's just the pent up expectations being released. Plus it's an indication of things to come, the Cavs should be strong contenders for many years to come. And the fact the Indians are favored in the East? It's doesn't get much better for a sports-obsessed town.
  23. Manny Ramirez is too young to be yer Dad.. I'm gonna go with Orel Hershiser.
  24. turbohoochies.. damn.. i'm gonna use that.
  25. Warehouse district probably fits best with what you're describing, so definitely check it out. If you think it's too much of a good thing (it's a little too busy for my taste) I'd also recommend the Statler Arms on E12th and Euclid. It's a nice, safe building with 24 hour staffed garage and security desk. It's a quick 3 minute walk to E4th which is burgeoning. Pricing is pretty reasonable as well.
