Cleveland City Council
how so? I have to admit I haven't been paying very close attention. and there seems to be a dearth of coverage in the PD (I'm about to give up on it entirely). Griffin seems to have a lot of bluster/blowhard and I haven't particularly cared for the things I've heard him say, but curious what sort of harmful actions he's imposed.

same here. From multiple accounts, it seems like a well intentioned endeavor with honorable goals that has unfortunately not been well executed and doesn't appear to have any viable path for achieving it.

Cleveland: Local Media News & Discussion
I haven't read any of these. I don't see the point of them, it's a lot of hypotheticals and loose extrapolations based on events that are constantly and rapidly shifting and almost certainly subject to legal challenges. Just my opinion but I'd much MUCH rather they focus on reporting concrete local events. He mentions the newsroom is thriving but I find that hard to believe given the sheer number of republished washpo and AP stories. They don't even have a consistent food section which seems like pretty low hanging fruit.

Cleveland Heights: Development and News
at a minimum you'd think they'd be more vigilant about this. I'm assuming plumbing isn't far along enough yet for sprinklers to be installed, but an investment of this size I would think would justify remote monitoring if not some on-site personnel 24/7. really curious how long the origin fire burned before completely engulfing the structure. then again I know exactly nothing about construction so..

yes, absolutely. and you also can appreciate the changing landscape and communities you pass through better. it's why I hate the advertisement wraps on rta buses - you can't actually see the areas your passing through all that well which imo is another missed opportunity for showcasing what all we have.

I would take a reliable commuter type rail with a half decent schedule. I used to take amtrak from Sacramento to SF quite frequently. It was a very pleasant 2.5 hour trip. The commuter rail between San Jose and SF was even better. Huge opportunity loss that we haven't implemented any semblance of this in Ohio.

Cleveland: Tremont: Development and News
I looked at them when I was trying to go carless here, I was probably looking my at this dude's cars because they were around Lincoln Park. the rates were crazy though so I just bussed it until I couldn't stand it anymore.

are there periodic reviews for billboards or once they're approved that's that?

Cleveland: Tremont: Development and News
that sunoco is definitely wild. made the mistake of tanking up there and felt like i was interdimensionally transported onto a Hollywood movie set with all the characters and shenanigans who were seemingly constantly rotating through for the 5 minutes or whatever it took to filler up. not entirely unpleasant but i didn't feel like pressing my luck.

Lorain County: Development and News
Yes, I understood you were taking about land area. It was quite clear. And some people are definitely touchy about it, I've witnessed Avon Lakers personally offended to be thought of as Avoners.

Lorain County: Development and News
yes, people are touchy about this! from learned experience lol I didn't realize it was larger than Lakewood, that's wild. it's such a shame the lakefront is completely locked up by private residencies with minimal access. Lake road (which people treat like a highway) doesn't even have consistent sidewalks, nor do many of the side streets. and the ones that do exist are in often in disrepair and inaccessible by people with mobility difficulties. it's really awful.

Cleveland: General Business & Economic News
I still read the PD every morning for some inexplicable reason. the online version is a mess. the organization is haphazard and many of the articles are re-prints of articles that were in yesterday's Washington Post. yet I still hold out hope that there will be some miraculous resurgence in interest from the regional populace that will help return it to what it used to be.

Cleveland: Midtown: Development and News
hah I lived in one of those for a few years in the 00's. funny little community. some wild memories including a guy that used to enjoy stripping down to his undies and covering himself in bird seed to let the pigeons feast on him. glad they're sticking around, they were really solid.

Cleveland: Scranton Peninsula: Development and News
I'm sorry if this has been covered before, but do we have any inkling as to why they are so reticent to engage about the property? From what I've seen there isn't even a "not interested" response, just messages into the ether?

Cuyahoga County: Corruption Probe
I have to admit my initial reaction to this was revulsion. I'm not particularly swayed by his health issues, it's not like he's on hospice. But after reading some other comments from people about the sentencing (purportedly) out of proportion to other corruption cases I guess I'm not as heated about it. 12 years in prison isn't nothing. I just really hope Householder isn't pardoned but fully expect him to be.

>Concrete walls at stair cores and the elevator are designed to provide sufficient lateral support to keep it all standing wew that's a relief

Lakewood: Development and News
I hear what you're saying, but I wonder if this is just an artifact of Lakewood being fairly dense with a higher absolute number of these businesses than surrounding suburbs and in fact this is just the normal "churn" business cycle. Tremont has had a number of closings over the last few years (rip sokolowskis poor some out) but is still clearly thriving with the large new projects.
