Cleveland: Random Development and News
Isn't the DCA supposed to be handling this? Oh yeah, while watching TV saturday afternoon I heard somebody screaming outside on Euclid & E12th.. Something about a "punk ass bitch" and "come on come on, bring it".. When I peeked out the window I was surprised to see it was a DCA ambassador. Hah!

Lorain County Discussion
I have a very good friend that moved into one of these ex-farmland developments in North Ridgeville. It pains me to drive to his house. It reminds me of Agrestic from the show Weeds.. -- "Little boxes on the hillside... Theres a green one & a pink one And a blue one & a yellow one And they are all made out of ticky tacky And they all look just the same. " Except there's no hillside. Or trees.

Put In Bay Rental Advice
Yes, the trailers (villas) have electricity, TV and A/C (although if you turn it up too high it freezes itself, which is weird. but it keeps it nice at night as long as you don't do that). They do have cabins as well -- I forgot we stayed in them one year when we had a smaller crowd. They have electricity as well, but I can't remember if they had A/C or not. I don't think so. I would definitely say it's clean until you make it un-clean like we would do in about 30 minutes. They have a cleaning staff that comes around and cleans after every check out, but I don't think they come on a daily basis. There was one year we had a cleanliness issue, but the front desk took care of it. A scooter is a great idea -- that'll be really cool to drive around the sort of mysterious Middle Bass Island (MBI) as well as Put-In-Bay (PIB). PIB does rent golf carts, which are kind of fun to load up with people and tool around on, but they're pretty pokey. I know you'll definitely be able to get to and around St. Hazards with it (you'll need to pay a slightly more expensive ferry rate), but I'm unsure of how you'll get it from from MBI to PIB. I think that boat is pedestrian only, but I could be wrong. Call the St. Hazards people, they'll definitely know and they're really friendly. There is a small beach accessible from St. Hazards, at least the last time I was there which was a few years ago. They were in the process of building a condo building along the shore near it so it's possible it turned private. Double check with the Hazards people. Don't know about microbrews, but the winery on PIB is fun. MBI is definitely more chill than PIB. Really the only thing on MBI is St. Hazards.. Although it's a bit of a party crowd at St. Hazards, but not out of control so. If nothing else they just don't have the vast numbers of people as PIB so it's not as rowdy. But the people that are there are largely drinking and having a good time laying around, playing frisbee, etc.

CLE: Legal Live/Work Spaces
Sorry, this is probably a dumb question but what exactly is the advantage of a legal live-work space? Other than just being legal that is

Put In Bay Rental Advice
For years my friends would rent out a couple of the "villas" at St. Hazards on Middle Bass Island. It was pretty convenient, the short boat ride to and from put-in-bay was always really entertaining, and it has a decent pool and bar.. The villas are really just glorified trailers but they do the job and comfortably fit I'd say 6 people each. All guys though maybe less.. We never had any complaints against us and we weren't the quietest bunch (did it all through college and a few years after). I should say we stopped going because of a perceived decrease in quality of the place. I say perceived because personally I thought the place was always the same and just our tastes were just becoming more discerning as we grew up. Either way, I wouldn't call it dumpy but it ain't the ritz.

Watch Out Ohio, The CCV is now targeting Strip Clubs
Thank god for these people who tell me what's best for me.. As far as not getting to the ballot box.. I used to believe the same thing about the bigoted same sex marriage legislation. I take solace in having a democrat in the governor's seat now. I think.

Cleveland: Cuyahoga County Gov't properties disposition (non-Ameritrust)
Link to Article County talks tough to contractors Official: We'll be monitoring you Friday, March 02, 2007 Joan Mazzolini Plain Dealer Reporter Cuyahoga County discovered that the payrolls for a contractor and subcontractor removing asbestos from a building slated to become part of a new county complex were identical. Adrian Maldonado, director of the county's Office of Procurement and Diversity, said the problem was spotted during the first few weeks by county employees monitoring the project. Maldonado said he would recommend terminating the contracts if the problem continues...

Great pictures MayDay. Does the "cut out" along the cornice serve a functional purpose?

Al Gore Wants You To Change Your Lightbulbs, and with Good Reason...
I thought Gore's response in the article Brewmaster posted was interesting -- that he lives a "carbon neutral" life by contributing to other project geared towards reduced energy consumption. I think that's valid thing to do given that it'll be impossible to get everyone working on the same principals of energy consumption -- some people will just want to live in large, energy hungry homes as a lifestyle choice. However, keeping an eye on the sum total emissions/consumption is really what matters. Isn't this the whole concept behind Kyoto?

University Circle (Cleveland) accessibility
Hmm, I think you're right about it being on Monday Jeffrey. I could've sworn I saw it originally scheduled for Saturday but not according to the CWRU Event's calendar --

University Circle (Cleveland) accessibility
My girlfriend's parents were in town this past weekend and so we all went to see the Monet exhibit, Orchid Mania then hit Severance for a piano concerto. Her Dad saw that dumb article in the morning and freaked out a little, but we had no parking problems at all. The article failed to mention that a national spokesman for Intelligent Design was speaking at Strosacker Saturday evening as well -- now THAT'S something to be worried about.

Me too, I think it's a great state park. I recall hearing some nonsense about "Arab vs Latin" gang warfare going on there. I only bring it up to say I've never heard of or witnessed anything even remotely along those lines, and suspect it's just your typical racist fear mongering.

Just curious, how do you know Hoggy's is done @ Crocker Park? Is it gone already? PS, hit Flying Fig for the first time last weekend when GLBC had a 1.5+ wait (btw, why can't they just take reservations?). It was pretty tasty, my ribeye was done medium rare to perfection (something that's more difficult to find than it should be). But MAN could they use an air lock on that door. Every entrance/exit resulted in a hell of a breeze throughout the whole place.

That's awesome Grandmaster Flash will be there.. Now if only they could get Herbie Hancock it would be an 80s techno-rap extravaganza! Isn't Playhouse Square gonna be all f'ed up with the ECP still though?

^ Exactly.. You should write an article documenting the reckless spending and poor cash management by the county

Why doesn't downtown Cleveland have....
^Maybe there are zoning laws against having too much pink in one establishment.. Seriously though, if overpriced Godiva can make it this long clearly there's a market for at least a small outlet..

Is the other place you guys are talking about Tommy's? I'm okay with Tommy's.. Sort of hit and miss. The best veggie food I've ever eaten (in my life) was at Passage to India in Westlake.. Unfortunately it must've lost its chef when it move to Lakewood (now India Garden) because it's just not the same.

I have to agree with peabody.. I find JM consistently disappointing.. And I wanted to love it so bad! But you're right, it trounces Melt in the healthfulness department.. I think injecting pure lard into your aorta trumps Melt on that front, though.
