Columbus: Downtown: Merchant Building
That just makes no sense. The city, and many residents of this city, knew the graves were under there the entire time, nobody was going to "conveniently forget" about hundreds of skeletons. It's not like they could have hidden that lol, it's a high foot traffic area someone would have noticed a bunch of bones sticking out of the dirt. Plus they've occasionally encountered skeletons and bones when doing utility and street upgrades in the area for decades. Everyone knew about it.

Columbus: Downtown: The Madison / 100 North High
I'm absolutely no 5 over 1 opponent, but boy would it be way cooler if they at least tried to give them a little architectural flair. It just sucks that modern architectural trends are so restrained due to the insanely high cost of construction these days. You're earthier making something amazing for the wealthy or something bland but functional for the rest.

Makes it look like we live in a dense city full of cool old buildings!

It's a product of its time. Modernism and brutalism were popular for a bit and now they aren't so it's easy to look at it against today's popular designs and go "bad!".

Well the Rhodes one is actually true! Late in the buildings construction they decided to chop a few floors off the top because the building was already $10 million over budget in the early 1970s, which was like 20% of the entire buildings original budget at the time.

I like it! Was it necessary? No. Is it bad? Also no. I'm sure they'll use it to advertise or something once the place is actually open. Will probably cycle through things and then also show the weather like it currently is.

They have to so they can accommodate 68 cars waiting in a line together on the property.

This is great, lots of awesome info here. I'd love to see whatever guidance or criteria there was to base these scores off of. Pretty crazy that one project in Cincinnati took 40% of the entire available funds. I gotta go look into that, must be serious!

Well I don't think that'll matter too much if they end up pulling out the checkbook to get their name on the building.

I've always heard Otherworld is looking for "bigger and better" and want to have a stage that can accommodate 1000-2000 people on top of having more rooms to display their art. This would not be the space for that I don't think unless the plan is to make this the interactive museum and rework the current location into a larger music exclusive venue. I just don't see how that would make sense though.

The more you fight it, the worse it gets! 3 more campus CVS buildings coming up!

Newark: Developments and News
TIm replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionMonumental for Heath. Now when Heath residents talk about going "downtown" they might not actually be referring to Newark! Anything to make the town feel like less of a stroad with a few residential side streets is great.

What was that? More single story CVS buildings on campus? You got it!

Nobody asked, but I think they should put a disc golf course in there. Connect me with the right people and I'll go plan it out for free!

New Albany: Ohio One (Intel Semiconductor Facility)
On the flip side, Intel has successfully been doing exactly what they plan to do here in Ohio in other locations around the US since the 1980s. Almost 50 years of success is nothing to scoff at. I have no inclinations that building out the same type of facilities on a bigger scale with the most current technologies is going to be tough for them to handle or anything.

Newark: Developments and News
TIm replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionMore traffic on 21st is inevitable. It's the only place in all of Licking County that has all the things you need in one spot. Whether housing gets added to 21st or not, traffic will grow.

Oh those are not Manhattan or San Fran prices at all. $5000+ for okay studios/1BRs is what you can expect in Manhattan. You'd be paying well into 5 digits for a good 3BR in Manhattan no questions or made 4 digits for a completely cramped wonky layout with no in unit laundry. These places are also going to have professional staff and tons of amenities. You pay $9000 split between 3 people to live in a basement rat den in Manhattan with no laundry and no amenities.

This is the type of "no nonsense" moderation we need around here! You bring a new project to this forum and it never happens or the end result sucks? BANNED!

This just convinced me that New Albany is the most HGTV town in all of America. Great updates, pretty darn well put together.

Looks like a dorm room building.

Couldn't agree more! It's tough to justify replacing a historic building when there are empty parking lots with 17 cars parking there during peak hours in the adjacent lot.
