  1. That needs to happen or Ohio State needs to create a short tram line or something on campus to prove that this stuff can work and will be used here.
  2. In this particular fictional scenario, I say screw the suburbs and all 270 drivers! I want this subway to only stop in Clintonville and German Village, maybe with a stop by the North Market to, just so I can easily go get breakfast at Skillet.
  3. The guy who doesn't want the dreaded public to be able to pee comfortably near his building is an asshole? You've got some nerve! /s
  4. Ohio State has always had an opportunity to be a leader when it comes to neighborhood connection and public transit and has just never decided to be that. Would be great to see them implement some of those pedestrian and public transportation upgrades to prove these things work in Columbus. Whenever I hear "Columbus is just a big college town" I laugh because college towns are walkable and have transit.
  5. I love that the rendering has that extra little detail on the roofline. Old buildings use to be works of art and we really need to bring that back. If you like that old architecture detailing, head up to Detroit and walk around downtown and have your mind blown by all the beautiful detailing on so many buildings there.
  6. I wonder how many days after it's completed until landscapers for all the expensive houses on Lane are parking on top of it.
  7. We use to play it in gym class back in the day (15+ years ago). It was always for the unathletic kids though haha. Bigger less intense ping pong, smaller less intense tennis, same size but less intense badminton. Probably why it has become so popular, its a super low impact physical activity that's in the next step up above just walking around.
  8. So apparently they are building a massive sidewalk all the way down Lane to Riverside. And when I say massive I mean it, you could have three wheelchairs lined up side by side on this thing or even drive a car down it. A much needed upgrade for the area, I've always thought the sidewalk needed to continue to the end there. Also seem pretty far along with the Arlington Gateway development. Seems to be less fencing around the site and only "up high" thing I saw them doing was installing balcony railings.
  9. The most anticipated update in all of Columbus. They planted 4 trees outside of the Dunkin' Donuts. Obviously much younger trees and put no effort into symmetry or anything with the plantings, but there are trees there now. Can't wait for my unborn children to enjoy that shade when they graduate high school.
  10. That's even worse.... These people are already getting a ton of handouts now they get more? Terrible waste of public funds. This money could go towards fixing the horrible public schools we have, public parks, public transportation, bike lanes, social services available to all residents etc. I'll never support giving public funds to tiny contingencies of the local population. Tax dollars are supposed to be used for us, not some of us.
  11. Couldn't disagree more. If my tax money isn't being spent on things that help everyone in the community, then it's not worth it. Anything that's just for a tiny minority of people is not something we should be spending public funds on. Public funds should be spent on things for the public to use, college isn't even an option for everyone and some of these people benefiting from this free housing probably aren't even from here so they're taking public funds from us. Not to mention college isn't some kind of necessity, it's a choice. You make a choice so you get a bunch of free handouts? That's ridiculous.
  12. Yeah just in case, don't go moving to Heath if you dislike airplane noise! It's certainly going to get busier and busier. Always fun to be driving on 79 and see the little planes flying like 100ft over your head.
  13. Sounds like it's a super necessary service they'll be providing for all the new businesses in the area. Going to be easy money for them! I do love hearing about developments like this and reading "construction starts in two weeks".
  14. I drive down Lane a lot so I'll keep my eye out for someone sprinting around campus to construction sites with a camera so I can say hi.
  15. You're absolutely right. It's kinda sad that if you see a residential looking building with no balconies it's either a hotel, senior living or affordable housing.
  16. And we live in 2023 so you'll only ever really hear about the bad ones! Positivity apparently doesn't get clicks or something.
  17. I can't say I know my local developers like they're members of a local sports team haha. I can spot an NRI, but that's about it.
  18. Giving off some serious Hampton Inn vibes.
  19. Well now you just guaranteed one of them will be a Great Clips!
  20. You expect these tenants to walk a few doors down?! This is Ohio! I expect them to be hitting the drive thru of the Starbucks two floors below them so they don't have to step outside briefly.
  21. I like the building and those businesses could always fail and be replaced by something more interesting! Let Chipotle do the leg work of building a kitchen haha.
  22. Dang, if you love corporate America this might be the perfect home for you. Chain fast food and a cult like gym. Just needs a Starbucks and it'll be complete!
  23. Good to someone doing something proactive for once. Would be great for more Ohioans to have the opportunity to get these high paying jobs before they shop them out to potential candidates around the country.
  24. Arguably one of the coolest buildings in the city. Happy to see them investing into it to keep it functional for the future.
  25. Honestly would be a top notch location for a super high end hotel.
