  1. Well maybe if they stopped AT the roof and didn't build THROUGH the roof, they wouldn't have these problems! /s
  2. Can't help but laugh at them calling this a "High Street style building". It's like a half block off High! You'd still see it even if it was on that corner!
  3. Where Dahlia was? Maybe, but they could do literally anything with that and make way more money off it. Would be a prime spot for nicer rentals or even for sale condos, especially if they ever move all that damn electrical infrastructure. I bet it'll be somewhere way outside downtown in Linden or something.
  4. Correct. I'm pretty sure there will be a small number of affordable units in the tower and then the developer will be building something new likely nowhere near downtown that's all affordable housing (allegedly). I want to say the last time I read about it they still did not have anywhere picked out for that development.
  5. I've inspected the pre-school at this facility. There is an insane amount of poorly utilized space in there. There are maybe 8 classrooms and they all spill out into this absolutely massive space that was mostly empty. Should be pretty easy to more adequately use the space, probably without disrupting too much of the existing operations.
  6. Are we sure that isn't an image of them building the Hoover Dam like 100 years ago?
  7. It's basically an indoor public park where you can also buy awesome food, drinks, treats, some groceries and greeting cards for some reason. It's also expanding the footprint so more local small businesses have an opportunity downtown in a fairly low risk environment from a business perspective. Your family, friends, neighbors right here in this city could have an opportunity to open their dream food business here. And I can't reiterate this enough, it's for literally anybody. Anything that gets more people walking around, talking to each other, having a good time in the heart of the city is worth a bit of public funds to me.
  8. If you think about it, rental apartments are basically extended stay hotels without any of the amenities.
  9. Don't forget that part of this project is an expansion of the North Market. The North Market is for everyone, you can just go in there and we can all access it as residents or visitors to Columbus. It's not like all this money is going towards making the penthouse super fancy or something.
  10. This is a pretty smart idea. Help a few businesses get setup downtown and collect hard data the entire time. If they are successful, you get to show everyone those numbers to prove it's worth considering a move to downtown Columbus for your business.
  11. Well this would certainly be something. This would be super closer to Pataskala, Granville, Alexandria and Johnstown I think. It would divert an insane amount of pass through traffic out of downtown Columbus. I get it but damn, I wonder what's going to get destroyed to make this.
  12. I'm not upset about it at all. At least we know exactly where the public money is going and we can actually all benefit from it as residents of Columbus and it's only going to make downtown more and more attractive which will help Columbus gain more interest from investors, small and medium sized business owners, downtown event planners, people thinking about a move, people looking for a weekend getaway etc.

You can build pretty sweet disc golf courses in a straight line for any parks department officials who are reading this forum! We already have a pretty solid example of one at Griggs.
  14. I do love how massive this thing feels when driving up and down 315 now. Really makes it feel like the city is beefing up.
  15. It's just a journalism thing these days. They treat it like I did my school work. Do it really fast one time with no reviews then hand it in and get a B.
  16. Pretty sweet update on the project! You have to assume with a place this old that has seen so many uses that there would be some unexpected slow downs. But a 10,000 gallon oil tank randomly buried onsite?! That is certainly a twist. Downtown is doing so great now and this will likely make downtown Newark an actual destination and not just a cool thing for the locals. I also thought the quote in there about the future tenants was hilarious, read like Trump said it. "We have the best possible future tenants, great tenants, so many tenants!".
  17. Wait a minute.... that's your job! Couldn't help myself lol.
  18. I still think they should hook up the natural gas as well so we have the option of nice water fountains or intense fire fountains.
  19. Oh I don't think those would be considered high end. They are absolutely nice, but I'm talking like $500,000 condo or $3500/month rent level of places here. Newark is absolutely not ready for those yet, but I can see a future where units of that caliber exist in downtown Newark.
  20. I kinda assumed the answer would be "oh it can absolutely be done, but building it on a farm in Ohio is way cheaper" haha. Appreciate the response!
  21. Serious question: Is it feasible to build giant rectangular towers and stack these sewer farms on top of each other? While the investment in Central Ohio is nice, these data centers are just such poor use of space. I can only imagine in 50 years when they are getting demolished and pushed further away from the city because this will be prime residential development land eventually.
  22. Yeah this is the one I was thinking about! Was talks of making it a pedestrian friendly area with a high end steak house and for sale higher end condos above the shops and what not. I think downtown Newark is still a bit of a ways away from having a high end for sale downtown unit market, but as the niceness of the square keeps expanding further and further out it'll only become more desirable.
  23. I like it! They are actually thinking about this development 5-10-20 years down the road. It would be pretty sad to get another 2 story garage that is at capacity daily within 5 years or less. This is phenomenal though, I use to hear about things in the works for this plot of land 5+ years ago, good to see some new possible action in downtown Newark and not just rehab of existing things (although those have all been hugely successful, the units above the buildings downtown are absolutely beautiful inside and out). I wonder if we will ever hear about some movement on the corner of 3rd and Church. There is a bank ATM there and I was hearing talks about it getting demolished and a parking garage going there for all the new downtown residents.
  24. They should be playing at the brand new Ohio State lacrosse stadium that just finished I believe. Heard them talking about it on 97.1 yesterday. They also talked about how the MLL team here won a championship so you are correct there.
  25. There are still so many trees in between the farms or bordering them that you never really get that Kansas style sightline of miles off into the distance of all farms with nothing else obstructing the view.
