  1. I also drive past this one frequently because my parents live just north of here near the Trout Club. I was there last month and I'll be there this weekend and I assume I'll see 15-20 new homes that were not there last visit. Not having basements, these things are going up crazy fast.
  2. No way! I drove past this piece of property like 4x a day for 3 years for work and always thought it was such a cool piece of land. I assumed the house on the corner there would never sell it honestly because it's such an awesome property. It's crazy bumpy and hilly in the entire yellow area there, those streets in the trees just south of the yellow line on the right are neighborhoods way up on top of a big hill. I would actually fantasize about owning that property someday. Guess that dream is dead!
  3. I want this same photo recreated but replace the actual heavy machinery with a Tonka truck with the caption "Work has started!".
  4. I'm going to start calling these new apartment complexes surrounded by parking "future redevelopments". This is 1970s type design here!
  5. But but.... the roundabouts make it like Europe and we don't like Europe round here!!! Give us back our ugly stoplights and mess of overhead wires!!! /s
  6. I'm always driving down that road! No phones behind the wheel! One of these days I do want to go walk down that way though, I just have a hard time getting myself to walk around for no reason other than to walk haha. I'm a habitual multitasker and walking to nowhere particular for no reason confuses my brain!
  7. I must be the only person in this forum who drives down Lane Avenue on campus or something! Surprised nobody has posted pictures of all the progress they've made at the new apartment building. Vertical construction is well underway. The new build has a pretty significant basement, but the elevator cores are rising well above grade now. Think that's about all the progress they've made so far.
  8. Is this like the only spot in all of Central Ohio where you can actually see the entire skyline of Columbus at once?
  9. Well it's a college town so the whole city is a DORA during the school year whether they want it to be or not.
  10. This is a great project and all, but how the hell are a few warehouses going to "change the Southside"?
  11. There is a reason the bike trails here are so popular! People like knowing they won't get ran over by a car.
  12. I was out in the Newark area over the weekend and driving back to Columbus via 16/161 I noticed what appeared to be some pretty new power line towers on either side of the highway. Much taller and thicker than what's already in the area and they did not have actual lines run yet. They were very clearly new, was still marked as construction sites around the bases. I want to say this was near the Mink Street exit? Whichever one has the new gas station off it that 5 years ago was an exit full of empty fields/
  13. You can see this bad boy from everywhere! A really cool view of it is on the bridge that crosses over the Olentangy on North Broadway between Riverside Methodist and Clintonville. You can see down the river and you see the new tower popping up over the trees in the distance. Would be a really cool one to get a picture of because all you see in nature and the building, it's a pretty cool little view.
  14. This one is just ridiculous. In what world is 91 homes on 88 acres "high density". That's like textbook suburban level density...
  15. Oh really? The Southside courses are still the least busy courses from what I can tell. Area 51, Scioto Grove (aka Quarry) and Walnut Hill I've never encountered an amount of people where I would consider the course to be crowded. But I guess my idea of busy might be different since the courses I play the most near the city are Griggs, Hoover and Blendon which are probably the 3 busiest courses in Central Ohio. Huge fan of Area 51 though, actually played there yesterday afternoon and played excellent. And it holding water and being constantly muddy often keeps people away haha.
  16. Exactly the event I was thinking of when I said they still have shows here! You can go find some pretty cool coverage of the event last year. Had some excellent drone shots of downtown from the Veterans Memorial at night as well. I believe this event is all local artists as well which is great. I've seen Fear and Lowe a few times and they're a really fun local House music act.
  17. Why the hell does a fertilizer company need to be centrally located in a city? How many people living in the city need fertilizer so fresh it was made down the street? Seems like the type of business you operate near a highway off ramp somewhere between two cities.
  18. It'll be fine everyone... This is an enormous project to secure the future of Intel and chip manufacturing in the US for literally decades, I don't think they are worrying too much about short term losses when it comes to their long term plans.
  19. They are incredibly explosive if things go wrong. Prob not the best idea to stick one next to High Street in an area that's only getting more and more dense.
  20. Arguing? I just shared an article.
  21. Some positive news coming out of Granville. They are in the process of amending their zoning regulations to promote future development. Really like the perspective they are taking with this. Not trying to box things into categories of mixed, commercial, industrial, residential etc., they are approaching it from an "activity level" point of view. So areas with higher levels of activity are allowed for different levels of density and different use types. One quote I really liked was one of the trustees or commission members noting that creating more dense developments promotes retention of rural and natural areas. I think a lot more of the opposition needs to hear this. If we build dense in the areas where the people are, their more rural quiet way of life won't be affected! https://www.newarkadvocate.com/story/news/local/granville/2023/05/03/granville-draft-plan-outlines-growth-without-sprawling-developments/70151820007/
  22. 3 data center campuses it sounds. Each campus could be multiple buildings eventually.
  23. It's two new data center campuses. One on the new land they purchased in the New Albany area and another in the Lancaster area on land they purchased there as well.
  24. That's the 1 out of 10! But that's also in Kentucky.
  25. No shade to Cleveland and Cincinnati (okay, maybe a little), but when these big companies are making announcements in Ohio, it seems like the investment is in Columbus or Central Ohio 9 times out of 10 these days.
