Columbus: Random Development and News
Today! I think the press conference is sometime this morning.

Columbus: Random Development and News
Yeah I'm hoping it's something different. Would be weird to be cryptic about data centers like this, everyone knows they don't really do anything for the community on any significant scale. I'm going to throw some wild speculation out there. Google is moving their headquarters to Ohio! If I'm correct, I'm going to look like a savant!

Columbus: Random Development and News
I think I said it in one of these threads last week, but people seem to completely forget how far this city has come! The changes from 2000 to 2020 ARE drastic, we just don't notice how drastic because we were living them the entire time. Completely agree though, the changes over the next 20 years are going to dwarf the changes of the past 20 years, but those changes were still significant.

I saw the same image this morning and it just made me want the same for Columbus! I know we've got some great overhead satellite comparisons of the changes, but would be cool to get actual photographs.

Columbus: Merion Village / Southside Developments and News
Columbus Underground has an article recently about what this city needs to attract/create a thriving film industry. I only skimmed it, not something I'm particularly interested in, but maybe some others here will enjoy the read. This was published just a couple weeks back as well so it's recent. https://columbusunderground.com/what-does-central-ohio-need-for-a-thriving-film-industry-jd1/

New Albany: Ohio One (Intel Semiconductor Facility)
I particularly like the turn lane that is all grass and trees in the second image.

If they catch you walking dow those sidewalks for anything but leisure...... you're in some big trouble!

Dublin: Developments and News
TIm replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionI'm still mad they closed Icarus. I go there for the first time ever, have an exceptional sandwich and then they announce they are closing like two days later.

Columbus: Weinland Park Developments and News
I would probably cry if street cars came back to High Street. If they did, I'd probably be about a 5 minute walk from a stop and could randomly pop into the short north and downtown without having to drive.

Columbus: Weinland Park Developments and News
It is kinda funny how they've tried to create that urban connection between downtown and OSU via the Short North, but it's like the definition of surface level because you go a block east or west and it becomes so much less dense so quickly. It is nice to see more of the infill going in both along high and into Victorian and Italian Village to actually create a more urban dense connected environment though.

Obetz: Developments and News
I got so excited when I saw this because they mention how the development will have a new disc golf course. Turns out it was the first thing they did and I've already been playing the course for years.

Columbus: Scioto Peninsula Developments and News
And while Meow Wolf is a much larger footprint, Otherworld integrates the live events waaaaay better into the venue. Meow Wolf it's just a dedicated room with some cool stuff while Otherworld you walk through this maze to find live DJs playing in the middle and get to wander around this weird place with great live music. It's such a fun experience, never had a bad time at any event and I've walked into a mirror at two of them.

Hopefully to free up space in the main building to rotate exhibits!

Columbus: Scioto Peninsula Developments and News
Aren't they building out that property to do exactly that? Or am I thinking of another place?

Yeah the puzzle isn't supposed to be easy, they don't advertise it for a reason. If you solve it I'm pretty sure the staff pops out and does something as well. They also turn off the puzzle and noise making features if you were there for an event.

Licking County: Developments and News
TIm replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionBecause they think they're better than us! It's a super crazy expensive and really really nice liberal arts college and they have the attitude to accompany it. Literally have a sushi chef from Japan in the cafeteria.

Columbus: Scioto Peninsula Developments and News
This all sounds fine to me! My absolute biggest complaint with Otherworld is the horrible location. Doors generally don't open until 10:30pm there for events and there is literally nothing but a sea of asphalt and darkness surrounding the place. Imagine if it was somewhere downtown where you could go out to eat, grab drinks etc. in the area and then walk over to the venue.

Columbus: Scioto Peninsula Developments and News
Damn, that's super disappointing to hear. They were talking about building a 2,000+ person venue in there for concerts that was all decked out like Otherworld and would be an extension of their current offerings.

Yeah those are just regional pulls though. Not that impressive when the tourists are all folks whose closest city to visit is Columbus. They're doing that out of convince, not because Columbus is some tourist Mecca.

Columbus: Downtown Developments and News
Obviously that person lives way the hell out in the suburbs and goes downtown a couple times a year.

Planters and benches would be absolutely perfect. Looks like there is a bit of an overhang so could be a shady area to sit for a bit during parts of the day.

Grandview Heights: Grandview Yard
TIm replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionI personally love brick crosswalks too. Yes they are a pain to maintain, but it's a very obvious visual queue to drivers that this is a pedestrian area and you need to be looking out for people crossing the street.
