  1. Just great to see a space be used for something so diverse and do so well. They host an event for everyone it seems. Plus, they're clearly killing it and have a pretty healthy looking calendar for the upcoming months and that obviously isn't even accounting for private events.
  2. Did they just skip all of downtown itself? I know that's our most urban and dense area, but I hope they are at least still going to be looking at the zoning code down there in some capacity. *couch cough* parking minimums. I still really hope they consider removing all street parking on High Street in the Short North and through Downtown. Imagine if all that parking was reclaimed for pedestrian use? All those Short North restaurants could have outdoor dining that isn't 5ft from cars on the road.
  3. Perfect example of a diverse venue. It's pretty much a premier venue in the city for dubstep, country music and weddings. Such a weird combo of offerings and I think it's great. Not to mention the place is just cool as hell being converted into a venue from an old church which gives it even more points in my book. The Bluestone is what others should be looking at as an example when they are considering opening a new event venue.
  4. Ahhhh yes. Suburbs and fighting against new developments, a tale as old as time itself.
  5. Hear me out..... they could have added more square footage. A private event venue where all the people visiting the facility are not going to be walking around the neighborhood and spending money does nothing positive for the area. Who wants to have their wedding in a kinda beat up parking lot filled urban neighborhood anyways?
  6. Damn that's a terrible use of space for this location, what a huge disappointment. Streets full of bars and other businesses that would seriously benefit from this being an actual entertainment venue. This is a net nothing for the neighborhood.
  7. Damn, that's dispassionately small. Not going to get any serious talent to put on a show here if capacity is capped at 150 people. We have enough tiny venues in the city, we needed more mid and large sized indoor event venues. We go from tiny venues to arenas with barely anything in between. Need more in that 500-5000 range.
  8. Seems anytime we hear about developments with for sale units, it's like 8 condos. Would be nice to have more non-single family home options for purchase around this city. I'm getting to that point where I'm seriously considering buying something and I really don't want to live in the suburbs because all the actual homes in the city are way too expensive and there aren't many for sale condo/apartment/townhouse units that aren't brand new super luxury units that cost $700K.
  9. Yeah I'm fairly certain that was all conceptual. Basically just possible ideas of things they could do without seriously considering, at least at this point, whether or not they should be done. Buckeye Lake will certainly see some growth, but they think they're special down there so they'll do it independently of whatever this group forming is going to do. They probably just forgot to ask Hanover and Utica is far enough away where the impacts of Intel probably won't be felt for a good long while. Not really a great direct connection between Utica and the west side of the county.
  10. Now that the Hilton is open and the new OSU tower is topped out, we are in desperate need of a tall building to watch grow!
  11. Only other places missing that have noticeable populations are Utica, Hanover and Buckeye Lake. All are a bit further out from the immediate impact area on Intel as well, but I doubt they'll escape all development. Particularly Hanover, they got a lot of room for more housing over there and it's right of the highway.
  12. Well hopefully there are a few more Dracula types to fill these units in then lol. Keeps the sunny units free for the rest of us! My plants wouldn't survive in a place like this.
  13. I lived in a place that only had windows facing one direction. It was honestly awful, for 75% of the day it felt like living in a dungeon. Good sunlight for the entire day is an absolute must for me. We barely get enough sun here as it is, I don't want to also live in a sunless dungeon house!
  14. Oh so these really aren't townhomes then. Just apartments with units on multiple floors that are shaped like townhouses? They still look cool, but isn't a townhouse technically one single unit that's typically 3 floors all within the same residence?
  15. So are most of these townhomes only going to have windows facing one direction? I can't imagine paying $500,000+ to barely get any sunlight in my house.
  16. Completely different scenario. It's literally unsafe to have a basement in Southern California. Earthquake happens and you collapse into your basement and get crushed by the rest of your house. There is no reason to not have one in Ohio other than builders trying to save time.
  17. Didn't grab a photo since I was driving, but there is a crane up at the former Harrison House site on Lane. The foundation is huge and crazy deep.
  18. Looks like they were taking the crane down at the Arlington Gateway development yesterday. Sure made my drive down Lane significantly longer.
  19. Way better use of the space than what is already there. When you drive up Riverside heading North from Lane Avenue, this specific area always raised eyebrows. Seemed so out of character compared to everything else on Riverside north of Lane. Ground floor retail will be nice, but more places to live near the rivers is always a positive and Griggs Park is personally one of my favorites.
  20. I don't know whether to be insulted or complimented, but whatever you were going for you are probably correct.
  21. Am I going crazy here? Literally none of these photos of other cities is anything like Easton. Easton is basically a suburban indoor/outdoor mall.
  22. Excellent place to live, alright place to visit. I always say if you want to have a good time in Columbus as a visitor you need to come with a plan. It's not like NYC or Chicago or even a bunch of other smaller cities where you can figure out a place to park and just walk around and let the city take you on a journey. You gotta come here for an event and fill in the gaps by visiting the cool spots around town, or better yet, come here to visit a local and let them take you to all of their favorite places. That's what I do with my east coat friends and they keep asking to come back!
  23. We should see if they can switch the tag to "graveyard".
  24. If I'm not mistaken, that second picture is where the tents originally were after they tore up the parking lot. Must be making some solid progress on the excavation of the grave sites.
