  1. Yeah I moved to Clintonville in 2021, did my Covid-time over near Bethel road. Has been vacant since I've been here!
  2. Nice newer units in The Loop in Chicago are going for the same price as a lot of units in Downtown Columbus. That..... makes no sense. Downtown Columbus does not have enough to offer to justify that (like $2500+) being the baseline for rental prices in the neighborhood.
  3. I've lived around the corner for over three years now and this parcel has been inactive the entire time. I don't even know if those buildings have ever even had an open business in them in that time, certainly no successful ones. Would be awesome to see this redeveloped and start finally upgrading High Street through the neighborhood.
  4. Great news for the local economy, but I'm not thrilled at the prospect of being ground zero for them testing out Robo Cop in US cities.
  5. That's more eastern Licking County, Fairfield County, Madison County, parts of Union County etc. these days I'd say.
  6. Well it's just their nightlife district mostly right now, which obviously most cities have. But OTR has history, beautiful architecture and a lot more character than our equivalent which is the Short North. Oh and a trolley. Like they get 5000 points for that for sure. It's not like OTR is offering a super unique experience compared to other cities, they're offering a familiar experience in a pretty fantastic setting.
  7. It's good they're being semi-proactive here. This area is only getting busier and busier. I bet 40 years ago people living in this area were mostly the "Columbus far away and scary" types and now it's mostly people commuting into the city for work.
  8. It's good that we have units at this price point though. There are plenty of people in Central Ohio making the money to afford these things, they just need to be enticed into moving downtown. Plus for every person that rents one of these, that's a more affordable unit they aren't renting that can go to someone who can't afford these expensive places.
  9. Yeah who is moving in the winter is typically doing it by choice. Always a big wave of people moving in the Spring and Summer.
  10. Me too because people use the regular parks as dog parks! Nothing like having some random ass dog wander through the woods from the park and try and attack my cats hanging out inside behind the slider screen door.
  11. I wonder how long it'll take them to get the old greasy fried fish smell out of there.
  12. Way too much green space, pedestrian amenities and nice design choices. Once they come back with bland cubes surrounded by parking it'll get approved in an instant!
  13. It's at least a big Speedway! But yeah this is not a walkable area in the slightest. 79 doesn't even have sidewalks even on most of the busy parts with stores and neighborhoods in the area up the road in Heath. All these oldies will be driving to get to literally everything.
  14. Honestly this would be a horrible location to live. You're surrounded by factories, off of a pretty busy road with a lot of truck traffic and across the street is the wastewater treatment plant for Hebron.
  15. Personally I'd rather lose 100 buildings than 1 mature tree! I am probably technically a tree lover though haha.
  16. I'm infinitely more concerned about the loss of mature trees than some old house most people never looked at or got to go inside of. But pretending every old house lost is some kind of tragedy makes no sense to me. Buildings by nature are essentially temporary, especially single family houses.
  17. I would VERY much like to hear more about this rumor. Otherworld has been talking about getting a better location in Columbus for years. If they can move this thing Downtown and also somehow make it have a larger capacity for concerts and not let the floor be the convergence of all traffic for the entire venue, that would be amazing. I'd go to a lot more shows since my drive would be cut in half and I would know I can "get in the back" to have space and not bump into people. There is nowhere to get space and also see the artist at the current venue.
  18. Those little linear parks that help break up a street to separate opposing directions of traffic need to become more of a thing in the Midwest.
  19. It looks good and it truly make the street feel so much more urban. Testament to what can be done by fully utilizing a parcel and bringing the building up to the road. Like a building just this large use to be here but somehow it feels so much better now!
  20. Why? I don't think you could even see this building much from the road before they cleared the land. And just because something is old doesn't make it historic. 50 years as an event center is hardly something worth preserving.
  21. South Park got it spot on with the whole SoDoSoPa thing. Those trendy spots and neighborhoods are in every decent sized city now and they all look quite similar, mainly the architecture.
  22. I always heard it wasn't that great personally! I do think the best Wendy's in the entire world is up on 23 in Delaware County just south of Delaware State Park. I don't know what they are doing in there, but they absolutely crush it every single time. My order is always perfect, piping hot and I don't think I've ever been in that drive-thru for longer than two minutes. Exemplarily work over there.
  23. Echoing the disdain for seeing mature trees removed. These bad boys take decades to get to a point where they can provide us shade and just look damn awesome. Always hate seeing them go when there really isn't a reason for it.
  24. Would be fine if you love some decent outlet shopping and don't actually work in Columbus but want to be near a city. Other than that.... moving to this area to commute into the city when there are so many nicer areas closer that are going to be very similar priced would be insane.
