Newark: Developments and News
TIm replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionI've been driving right past this development for months now to go visit my parents. Sometimes there was only a 2 week gap between visits and there would be 10 more houses framed up in that time. I think it does make them a lot quicker since these are slab homes and don't have any basements.

Dublin: Bridge Park / Bridge Street District Developments and News
TIm replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionTestament to the good construction quality at Bridge Park. My friend just moved into a ground floor apartment literally right across the street from your last picture. You can barely hear anything happening outside and the windows are actually tinted a bit so it's tough to see in from the streets unless you press your face up against the window. Cars are probably 15ft away (granted this isn't a busy street in BP as there is no retail on it) from where I was sitting on his couch and you could not hear them.

It was certainly leaning a bit more in the "this is bad for Clintonville" category when the post was newer yesterday. Got a lot more support overnight it seems.

Columbus: Clintonville Developments and News
Oh I do live here! Not only that, but I use to be a part of similar boards in my hometown before I moved to Ohio so I know just what to say to get those very professional "you guys are idiots" type things on the official record. If I was Pat Mahomes I could probably throw a football to this intersection from where I'm sitting right now.

Oh there were some pretty bad takes in there. This would be the absolute perfect spot to live as a grad student. It's close to campus, you're sandwiched between two bus stops that are literally minutes away, and when you're coming back for the day you can hop off at GE/Lucky's to grab some groceries before your 5 minute walk home. Also got the option of riding a bicycle everywhere as well. Grad students basically just need a place to sleep at night and they know their living situation is temporary so the small size of the apartments is probably quite appealing.

Where do they have these commission meetings? Might have to start popping in and repeating the same things to them every single meeting they hold.

Columbus: Clintonville Developments and News
I'm a big fan of this. More height and density is a must along the High St. corridor in Clintonville. And a used car lot can be literally anywhere, it does not need to be on a prime time piece of real estate like this in an area that is actually quite walkable.

Oh man I'm already frustrated by that conversation and I wasn't even a part of it!

Columbus: Random Development and News
No incentive to build a 30 story tower when you can just build 10+ 6 story buildings for way cheaper. Just creating another crisis for Columbus some decades in the future probably.

Columbus: Harrison West / Dennison Place Developments and News
TIm replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionIt just makes so much sense. Turn the old factories into super cool loft apartments or condos and manufacturing can move into the new style manufacturing building that are designed for efficiency and to maintain cleanliness way easier than these old buildings that require an insane amount of upkeep now.

Columbus: OSU / University Area Developments and News
Can't see the full article, but man, if that contractor isn't already loaded up with business this was probably a bad idea. Why would you want to piss off the endless money farm that is OSU? They're only going to grow more and more and now this contractor won't ever be considered again.

Columbus: Old North Columbus Developments and News
I just hope that this is successful and shows people that building tall and increasing density along High Street in the Old North and more so up into Clintonville is nothing but a good idea. This is supposed to be a nice area but all I see is poorly utilized space and waaaaay too many ugly overhead power lines.

Columbus: Clintonville Developments and News
Over here in Clintonville we love us some good cell phone stores and brand new bank branches (it's 2022, why are we building banks?!) at the busiest intersection in the neighborhood. Couple that with one of the worst Kroger stores in the city and you've got some real unique character! /s if my sarcasm didn't smack you in the face

Upper Arlington: Developments and News
TIm replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionThose upfront costs are no joke though! My high school has turf now and they started taking donations for the project when I was a Sophomore and finally built the thing after I graduated college.

Upper Arlington: Developments and News
TIm replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionArtificial turf for a lacrosse practice field?! Man, I should have gone to public school in a rich town! My schools game field was so bad we either played at one of the elementary schools or on the Pop Warner football field.

Playing video games as a hobby has made me expect delays with literally anything these days. I think the biggest news here is that they've already sold out the entire hotel for a conference. That's enormous news. That was exactly the point of this entire thing and having one 10 days after the place officially opens is a great sign for more events coming to the hotel and convention center in the coming years.

Central Ohio Metro Parks / Columbus Recreation & Parks
This is awesome! More parks is always great. Anyone who doesn't like this can head straight to the Detention Pond to rethink their position.

Newark: Developments and News
TIm replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionSuch a weird group of buildings. It's far enough away from the rest of the action on 21st that you always forget about them. I literally worked right around the corner for 3 years and stepped foot in Ollies one time and honestly almost never drove down this specific 0.25 - 0.5 miles of 21st. This seems like a perfect use of the space as it is not an eye catching piece of property that draws people off the street.

Columbus: Downtown: Arena District Developments and News
I'm fairly certain those are going to turn into parking lots for at least the next 2-3 years. This should be where people are parking to go to the North Market once the current parking lot turns into a huge construction zone. Hopefully they eventually get built out to be something cool once the Merchant's Tower is completed.

Columbus: Clintonville Developments and News
Did you by chance ever happen to be near the Raising Canes in Heath for the first couple months after it opened? They were apparently raking in 7 figures in sales a week and had to keep a refer truck stocked with chicken in the parking lot. Police officers directing traffic for over a month, cars spilling out into the roadways. It's probably fairly safe to assume this Chic-Fil-A location will be absolutely slammed for at least a month after opening. They're going to make that money back quick! People just love fried chicken passed through a window around here.

Columbus: Polaris Developments and News
TIm replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionAt least someone is trying to do something! Sounds like the development itself will be pretty walkable in a Bridge Park manner. And I'll take a dense development like this over another couple huge retail stores surrounded by a sea of parking lots.

That "All Crane" business right off 71 South must just be raking in cash. Just need somewhere to store all these cranes and be able to set them up and just watch the money flow in. Anyone want to start another crane rental business and undercut them?

Columbus: Olentangy River Road Developments
TIm replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionAlways happy for more fried chicken, but man is this such a poor use of the space at this location.
