  1. I was ready to grab my pitchfork! An @CbusOrBust post without photos is almost criminal! In all seriousness, I think I speak for everyone in saying we appreciate the hell out of your posts.
  2. Well damn, I'm all for businesses complaining about developments if it results in the developments still moving forward and more trees being added in the end!
  3. I have to disagree, it's going to be Las Vegas and Seattle. The Seattle metro area is over 4 million people now, about 1 million greater than when the Super Sonics left. With growth like that it's a no brainer major contender for a team to move their or an expansion team. And I would strongly challenge that the east coast is underrepresented in the NBA. Some of the most popular NBA teams, both domestically and internationally, are on the east coast. The east coast teams, minus when the Hornets left and came back, have basically stuck around the entire time. They are mostly huge well established organizations with well attended games. College sports are absolutely not the dominant teams on the east coast. I was born and raised there and generally east coasters, especially people in the NE megalopolis, don't care about college sports much and put a lot more weight on professional sports teams. Hell, I don't know many people from back home that even has a favorite college they follow. Moving here to Columbus was a huge culture shock about how much people care about college sports, it's night and day compared to where I grew up. As cool as it would be to see any of those cities you listed get a team, they just either aren't big enough markets or would be entering into markets with a ton of other competition for fans (i.e., other pro teams and hugely popular college teams).
  4. Seattle and Las Vegas are absolutely the two gaps in the NBA market right now, and Seattle was home to a team for a while. If there is a team moving or a new expansion team, it'll almost certainly be one of these two cities. I'm all aboard the Columbus NBA team pipe dream train though!
  5. This isn't on topic at all, but what New Orleans sports team are you referring to? I'm curious to read up on that.
  6. "The No Train Station at Grandview"
  7. Hopefully they can reapply next round and it wasn't exclusively contingent on getting accepted in the first ever round of TMUD funding.
  8. The design of those balconies is pretty awesome.
  9. Oh well everyone who went to that stadium had something to complain about haha. Hell, even people who just lived in the area had plenty to complain about. You ever not know there was a game/event going on and try and get on the highway east of the old stadium and have the road blocked off and traffic cops direct you to pull into the stadium parking lot? I have..... that was not very fun. Quick trip turned into me sitting in stadium traffic for 45 minutes then going home.
  10. Try heading to a game with out of towners! They've all complained when I've taken them to games.... They are also the type of people who would get into their SUV to go get mail from the end of their driveway though.
  11. I can't wait to see how frustrated people get trying to leave the stadium from this parking garage after a game. Park in the Arena District and walk in is 100% the best option if you have legs that work. Let those out of town visitors who are afraid of walking pay $25 to sit in post game traffic!
  12. Everything will really come together once we are able to get photos of North Market Tower from the top of the Hilton and vice versa.
  13. I grew up in New England. At one point my hometown of about 20K had 7 Dunkin' Donuts, three of which were within a mile of each other on the same road. I still like the coffee but the food these days is absolute hot garbage. They can never recreate the quality of the breakfast sandwiches from when they first released them back when I was a kid. If mom and dad took us to Dunks to get food you knew it was going to be a good day. Now the sandwiches are mostly egg on completely untoasted bagels and it's just so disappointing.
  14. I'm pretty sure it was an 800,000 sq ft building there previously! I don't think they want this to be manufacturing though. There was a previous proposal for this lot to tie into the World Heritage Site status for the Hopewell Indian Mounds across the street. The proposal was a fairly significant development. It called for a tunnel going under 79 to connect it to the Earthworks and a museum that would be dedicated to the Earthworks and the history of the Hopewell Indians. The development would also include, higher density residential, office space, retail space and a hotel or two with the interning of attracting World Heritage Site visitors to the area. As far as I know this was all just a concept proposal and nothing would happen until the World Heritage status of the collective Indian mounds in Ohio was determined, which is all contingent on Moundbuilders Country Club getting kicked off their property.
  15. The immediate downtown Newark area is doing excellent, but the residential neighborhoods just outside downtown are probably the least desirable neighborhoods to live in in Newark. All the nice ones are in North Newark or on the west side closer to Granville which is about as far away as you can get from downtown while still living in the city limits.
  16. I know that lot where Stacy's buffet building in was intended to turn into a new little shopping center anchored by a Bibibop or a Chic Fil A. This was years ago though and nothing has happened with the parcel in ages. The lot where thee old motel/Indian restaurant were would be a solid location, but I don't know if you can even turn left out of that lot onto 79.
  17. Heath and Newark are so cohesive they're basically the same place. Hell, some people just call it South Newark. This is all excellent news though, I know my New England transplant mother is pumped about the Dunks coming to the area so she doesn't have to go on Saturday morning Dunks runs up to Mt. Vernon (it's an addiction). The Heath-Newark-Licking County Port Authority is so damn good at attracting businesses to their properties it's crazy. The guy who handles all that stuff is just so damn personable he talks businesses right into opening up there with ease.
  18. All of us waiting for that new 350ft+ tower announcement
  19. This honestly might be the first development I've seen where a reduction in available surface parking spaces was a highlight of the development. That is not very Midwestern of them!
  20. I'd imagine just about every township, for the most part, will be fighting that tooth and nail. It insults their rural sensibilities! Plus the local township government people would lose the tiny bit of power they have and they won't like that.
  21. This right here has always been the biggest factor in my eyes. Granville's historic anti-development sentiment only hindered the general greater Newark region, but a change in local government to a pro-development mindset will be a great benefit to the region as a whole. I don't think anyone expects Granville to start building 10 story apartment buildings and strip malls anchored by places like Target, but anything that's actually progressive and planning for future change will be an immense improvement. This Intel development was hopefully the straw that broke the camels back for a lot of development opposers. Change is a-coming and it's best to be prepared than to sit idly by!
  22. Yeah the quotes in that article are absolutely infuriating. Granville has been steadfastly against growth all because they did not want to have to invest more money into their schools (their high school is amazing by the way, nicest high school I've ever been in). This has been their stance for years and is the major component in NW Newark not having more housing right now. The local government in Granville is pretty slimy. Now that they see a lot of potential $$$ they're all of a sudden 'pro growth'? Okay...
  23. 320K sq ft is a very sizable facility as well!
  24. Yeah those Honda and other dealerships right at the southern edge of Heath, after that it's open road until you hit the 70 interchange right outside Buckeye Lake. Easy on and off as well.
  25. It's a complete straight shot to 70 down 79 from there and the roads are already wide enough to handle an increased amount of 18 wheeler traffic.
