Columbus: Scioto Peninsula Developments and News
Yeah we don't have that geography which forces density but it does seem people are starting to realize that it's in the best interest of the city to get more dense, especially in the urban core.

Is there any good new information in there about the North Market Tower as well?

Columbus: Downtown: Arena District Developments and News
Absolute prime time real estate right there. Sounds like it'll be the temporary parking while the NMT gets built and then hopefully we see some nice and tall proposals for these sites.

New Albany: New Albany International Business Park / Silicon Heartland
I'm a few degrees removed from these people, but someone I know who knows people who own hundreds of acres out that way are being offered as much as $45,000 an acre when previous valuation was somewhere near $15,000 an acre not too many years ago. One guy who owns 300 acres that's used as farmland is 100% going to carve himself out some acreage for his family and sell the rest because the kids don't want to run the farm. They fully expect the price to go up as well. It's going to be VERY enticing to sell for a lot of people out there. I know some people are upset about losing their rural way of living but the idea of becoming a multi-millionaire will probably make that go right out the door. Cashing out and building your dream home a bit further away from Columbus sounds like a good deal to me.

Columbus: Downtown: Lower.com Field / Astor Park
Things have been moving quick as can be in this town! Projects going from approved to breaking ground in record time and things like this going from starting up construction to a ton of visible progress in just a few weeks time. Really cool to see companies motivated to get things moving ASAP.

Columbus: Downtown Developments and News
Pretty happy to see that more and more projects which did not get TMUD are still planning on moving forward. I was worried TMUD was going to be a "make or break" for a lot of these projects. Guess the numbers still say it'll be worth moving ahead without it!

Why the hell does a CVS need visibility?! I've never been driving, spotted a CVS and said to myself "oh boy! Do you see that? a CVS! Let's go in there, they're so cool!" Only time I'm looking for a CVS or something similar to stop is if I'm in an unfamiliar area and I forgot my sunblock or need some Advil or something. CVS is not destination shopping! They don't need to dominate the street front!

Columbus: Downtown: Merchant Building
If we make it to the end of 2022 without another 300ft+ tower confirmed as happening I would be pretty darn surprised. I'm almost expecting there to be more than just one approved and confirmed as moving forward for this year.

Newark: Developments and News
TIm replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionI do know there was a building in that spot previously (pretty sure it's in your photos). I want to say there was a fire in it when it was vacant which made it structurally unsound so they had to tear it down. Would be a great spot for anything at this point. If only there was a restaurant right there to utilize it but all the food places are just a bit too far away.

Newark: Developments and News
TIm replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionOh that's what it was! I didn't remember it being an abandoned unit but I also didn't remember it being unused. Now that Denison has the new art building (I'm assuming it's done, haven't been to Granville in years at this point) they probably moved all that over there so literally this is all a net gain with nothing lost for Newark.

Newark: Developments and News
TIm replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionAwesome addition to downtown Newark! If I remember correctly to, this unit has been vacant for a while right? Not only is a new thing coming in, but it isn't displacing anything else.

Columbus: Easton Developments and News
Is the Easton TMUD application only for a few extra floors? I thought it was for a significantly larger/taller structure. I get why they want to wait though, what they are developing is the most prime available real estate in Easton so it's in their best interest to wait and see if they can maximize that real estate now as opposed to rushing to develop the land and then being stuck a few years later proposing a 20+ story tower not close enough to all the action at Easton to make it a desirable living destination.

A lot of projects in Columbus and Central Ohio applied for TMUD so we will have to keep our eyes on that!

Newark: Developments and News
TIm replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionReally a great opportunity to make downtown feel like it extends onto the other side of 16. The bridge really helped make the transition over 16 very seamless. Some vacant lots and old buildings which are ripe for development. Would be a great area to add some density.

Newark: Developments and News
TIm replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionArticle about rezoning some areas around Downtown Newark to allow for more development. https://www.newarkadvocate.com/story/news/2022/02/24/city-pursues-rezoning-82-properties-hudson-elmwood-mount-vernon/6893228001/ The Newark City Council Service Committee approved on Tuesday rezoning 82 properties on Hudson and Elmwood avenues, and Mount Vernon Road between Ohio 16 and St. Clair and Hoover streets. The full council will consider the legislation in March, following a public hearing. The properties are currently in numerous zoning districts, including residential, business, office and church-school institutional. Layman (Steve; Newark Development Partners board member) said the new zoning district allows for residential and commercial uses, making redevelopment easier. “When a new ordinance was passed in 2008, and a map was drawn, there was an attempt to zone things as they were," Layman said. "As a result, this is a classic case of spot zoning. It makes sense if nothing is happening, but when that area is open for redevelopment and people are trying to do things to improve that area, the zoning stands in the way. “The most reasonable solution to that was to zone it downtown commercial. That classification is the broadest classification in the city and it’s contiguous to that district.” The city created the new zoning district for land west of downtown being developed as Newark Station, an $11 million commercial, residential and entertainment destination on the 10-acre former White-Westinghouse industrial site.

Columbus: Short North Developments and News
TIm replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionReading comments on places like Facebook and Reddit you know there is always going to be so much negativity there. It's honestly exhausting. Whatever the topic is doesn't matter, someone will come in and start being super negative and once someone initiates with them they'll likely start throwing out insults and talking down to people. Rinse and repeat for literally everything these days. It's my favorite part about Urban Ohio. We mostly have discussion here, even when people disagree. It's how it should be!

Columbus: OSU / University Area Developments and News
Replacing them is absolutely a pipe dream, they are just way too useful. An exterior facelift would be nice though, even if they just painted them in OSU colors or something. At least that way when they do the panoramic overhead views during football games you don't get assaulted with that "room someone smoked cigarettes inside for 20 years" shade of yellow/off white.

Delaware County: Developments and News
TIm replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionThere are so many things which just make more sense to transport via roadways. Using trucks for transport will always be necessary. So many regional needs for truck transport, it's not all long haul trucking.

Columbus: OSU / University Area Developments and News
Hopefully once actual renderings come out they try and incorporate some unique design elements into this thing as opposed to making one of those cookie cutter (but useful!) 5 story luxury buildings just stretched out 3x higher. The sky bridge thing has the potential to be really cool if done right!
