  1. Makes this news even better! Can safely go to Scioto Downs and not have to worry about getting conked in the head with a piece of concrete. Would probably make a great lawsuit though!
  2. Would be real nice to have a few spots to eat over there so you can get there early, grab some food and have a short walk into the stadium. It's honestly not too bad going from the Nationwide Arena area to the stadium on foot, but I know some people are so dead set against walking that the distance would prevent them from even considering going to a game. I don't get the aversion to walking, but to each their own.
  3. Columbus actually does a decent job of lighting buildings up at night. I was just in Denver and the skyline was so dark at night it was kinda odd.
  4. As walls go those are certainly some nice ones.
  5. Almost as tall as The James and they're only halfway?! This thing is going to be a beast.
  6. Anyone have a general idea of when this thing will top out? Have to imagine it's getting close!
  7. I've been out of town for a week but when I last drove past this site and the Arlington Gateway site I was super impressed with the amount of progress I saw. I'll try and swing by sometime soon and get more eyes on both of these. I imagine I'll notice a lot of new progress. They're moving quick over in UA!
  8. The nice thing here is that Johnstown is welcoming development and are actually planning for the future. Excellent examplem of a small community being proactive and planning for the future while trying to ensure current residents are also happy.
  9. Oh wow, I'm not at all familiar with these. These are very cool! Makes me glad to know these trees will live happy healthy lives and not be chopped down in 25 years to replace some stones they cracked.
  10. I haven't lived in the neighborhood long, but it does have a lot of awesome stuff. What isn't awesome is all the random gaps, tiny little single story buildings and unnecessary buildings like this one that litter High Street and Indianola. Those two streets should be full of businesses you'd want to walk too and they're currently at maybe 50% of what it could be.
  11. Having spent a significant amount of time dealing with various local Granville government bodies and businesses, they just suck. The town is so nice but the residents are just serious "get off my lawn" types. Almost anytime I ran into an issue in that town the entitlement would start oozing out of everywhere it was maddening. I understand wanting to keep the historic charm of the Village of Granville, but the rest of Granville is just so ripe for development and it's just baffling that all these people with money throw their weight around just so they don't have to possibly drive past an apartment on their way to their horse stables. Like you're very close to a very large city, either get in line or get left behind. Too many Licking County communities are just so anti-development it's mind boggling.
  12. Why was a bank in that spot even necessary? The amount of people walking into physical banks these days has to be at an all-time low. Last time I was inside a bank was in 2018 to get $100 bills. Wasted potential at a very busy intersection and cars are going to have a hell of a time taking a left out of this place.
  13. Looks great but those trees are going to ruin that stone sometime in the future. They did not give those trees and their roots enough space to grow at all.
  14. It looks like someone asked a child to build an apartment building out of Legos.
  15. It's on the National Register of Historic Places and somehow they think tearing it down to build a damn parking lot of all things is acceptable? Who is getting their pockets lined to make that decision?
  16. You have an uncanny ability to make photos appear fake haha!
  17. We do not deserve @NorthShore647! An absolute treasure!
  18. If that State Farm agent owns that piece of land, they are an absolute genius. Value is only going to go up so they could sell down the road a bit (probably after Arlington Gateway is done) and make 2x+ more than the current valuation. Would be a great spot to make a little park or put a nice restaurant.
  19. I was also a big fan of the part which mentioned how every damn project needing a parking variance is dumb as hell and how the zoning code needs to be applied different to more urban and dense areas of the city and a wide reaching blanket code for the entire 220sq miles Columbus covers is very dumb.
  20. My lord am I happy they contracted some outside consultants to review this code and tear it apart. It's in desperate need of an update and hopefully this pushes them to actually do that.
  21. I see a lot of green grass in this picture. Looks like a prime spot to put a surface lot to me!
  22. You beat me to it! My parents bought a house just up the street in early 2020 and it's crazy to see these almost identical sized homes will be starting out 30-40K higher. They've only owned the house a year and a half and just general home price increases plus some of the add ons they did have already increased the value like 50k, it's absolutely crazy. New nicer housing developments in Newark is likely going to be phase one of the floodgates of development. Things have been progressing nicely over the past 5 years, but this should kick things up another notch.
  23. You could show me those renderings and tell me it was any single development in the city and I would believe you. Feel like I've seen something very similar like 20x now.
  24. Yeah lets not put a giant senior center there please haha. The seniors just all end up congregating at local businesses like coffee shops or McDonalds and take up 40 seats and collectively spend $28 over the course of 4 hours.
  25. Which is crazy because that makes them entirely a recreation resource and attraction which is so much better than a river which can accommodate large ships that pollute the waters and aren't safe for people to use.
