  1. That would be awesome, I just don't think enough people are commuting in from that area to justify the cost. Only 180K people living in Licking County and a good chunk of that would be nowhere near this rail line, plus a good amount of those people live and work within the county. What's more likely is they would add additional lanes to 161 in New Albany since that's a major major bottleneck right now. Just two lanes and have a series of highly trafficked on ramps merging in right in this area. This would be fine if New Albany was still a farming community and Newark wasn't growing, but neither of those are the case.
  2. Damn do those power lines really take away from it. Come on AEP, your name is in this photo come bury those lines!
  3. I just really hope we start getting more developments which utilize the river. It's like our best natural feature here in Columbus and it's incredibly underutilized. So many sections of the river are dammed up and surrounded by concrete and unkept areas. That one OSU announcer always use to say "...on the banks of the mighty Olentangy", but if you didn't go to the stadium crossing that one bridge which goes over the river, you wouldn't have any idea there was a river a stones throw away. Just hope we see more stuff like what they're doing down here and places like Bridge Park where they are really complementing the adjacent river and make it more of an accessible attraction in more locations here in the Columbus area.
  4. Public transit outreaching into the adjacent suburban communities is only going to become more and more necessary as the city continue to grow and more people are commuting downtown everyday. When it's either a 45min car ride or 15min bus ride, people will start taking the bus.
  5. The whole "wealthy suburbs won't use public transit" thing is honestly just nonsense. I use to drive through UA every single morning to get to work pre-pandemic and there were always people waiting at the few bus stops I saw in UA every single day. Some people just don't want to drive regardless of how much money they have. These were well dressed people in suits and what not obviously commuting to downtown.
  6. Well that explains why I could see it fine then!
  7. I can see it just fine.
  8. Looks like there's a lot of unused land right there as well. Could be some prime future development right there!
  9. If only giving them my email wasn't a requirement to sign.
  10. I wonder at what point we will be able to see steel poking up when driving on 315. Was on 315 south this morning and didn't see anything yet, but it was incredibly foggy.
  11. I've been so impressed with how fast this thing has been gaining height. Got some skilled workers on this project! Need to hurry up and top out so these workers can go build North Market Tower for us!
  12. I hope it's a decent sized music venue. We have plenty of tiny/small and plenty of huge music venues in this city, we need another place that can comfortably handled like 2,000 people indoors.
  13. All the people complaining about shadows should just buy or rent units that are really high up. Problem solved!
  14. It really didn't at all. I'd call that the "quiet" part of Clintonville.
  15. There is a ton of room to do cool things north of this parcel, you sure got that right. Starts to feel very suburban very quickly, hopefully can see some new development up that way.
  16. In the new September construction roundup from Columbus Underground (I linked this in the random development thread) they mention site prep has started on Astor Park so hopefully that means we will start seeing some actual construction this Fall!
  17. Most recent construction roundup for the month of September from CU. https://www.columbusunderground.com/construction-roundup-september-2021-edition-we1/
  18. Wait a minute..... are they saying there was dust outside?! This is an outrage! I got my neighbor arrested for sweeping their walkway so the police should be able to easily round up all those pesky construction workers and their assault dust and send them to jail! Nobody should ever have to sneeze!
  19. To anyone going to any of these, the garage outside the North Market is an awesome option. Little bit of a walk but you'll be in and out of the garage in minutes after the game. Just used it for the Crew last weekend and had 0 issues and it's only $9.
  20. There are certainly plenty of examples of local small businesses getting their starts in these types of kitchens, but there have also been plenty of crappy chain places operating under different names as a ghost kitchen. This spot should be completely filled up with locals though!
  21. I wouldn't say that really. They have been a thing for a minute just due to the changing nature of the food business shifting more towards fast casual and delivery, covid was just a great opportunity for them to thrive. Some really awesome places go their start operating out of a ghost kitchen. The overhead needed to start a food business is absolutely insane all so you can make $0.14 per item you sell. It's really hard to build capital as a fledgeling food business with those razor thing margins when you also have to worry about rent, utilities and facility upkeep on top of ordering ingredients, supplies and paying for employees. Not to mention the extra food waste that goes with starting up as you start to figure things out. The ghost kitchen model gives people with a good idea an opportunity to test it out without needing to invest potentially hundreds of thousands of dollars into something they aren't sure will even work (commercial kitchen equipment is insanely expensive!). Gives people an opportunity to give it a shot without needing to take out a huge loan or find investors. If it doesn't work, you're out a few months of renting a commissary/ghost kitchen and whatever you spent on supplies and if it does work you can generate solid profits without a ton of overhead and then reinvest those profits into your business. It's honestly a brilliant idea and doesn't make the food market cornered by your Cameron Mitchell types who have loads of cash to start new food ventures. I'm all for this development. Yes you can argue against this particular thing going in this particular building, but the place just looks perfectly equipped for this type of use. You're going to see this place filled up with Columbus/Central Ohio small businesses and that's a great thing as far as I'm concerned. And not to mention in the article it says they are intending to have a walk up counter inside where you can pick food up from any of the businesses within offering that service. I think that's a nice added feature, especially if you have picky eaters. Can be a one stop shop and order off 10 menus and only need to go pick it up at one place!
  22. Yeah I hear that, would be nice if it was another cool place you can walk into. I would think of this more as a commissary than a ghost kitchen though even though they said ghost kitchen. Based on the copied layout it just is a commissary and you can operate a ghost kitchen out of a commissary if you want or use it for other things. Those garage bay doors are going to be incredibly useful for food trucks and caterers operating or doing prep work out of this space. Have to imagine that was a major selling point when deciding the use of the space. I'm glad it's going to be used for something the city is lacking in as opposed to another okay brewery or something. Not everybody likes alcohol, but everyone likes food!
  23. It sure as hell beats an ugly old empty building covered in graffiti. Any use is better than no use. There is also a major need for places like this as well. Food trucks, food carts and small food businesses often need commissary space and this will certainly fill a need in the community.
  24. They also have way more geographical issues to deal with compared to Columbus. Lots of hills and the KY border and we got a lot of nice flat ground and basically infinite room to expand outwards (not literally).
  25. Cincinnati needs to get some height on the docket! I don't even think they have any TMUD eligible approved or proposed developments. More for us I guess!
