  1. Absolutely brilliant idea. Nitrile gloves are the best type of disposable gloves for almost every situation, they're currently way too expensive, there's always a need for them and the food industry each year moves closer and closer to banning other types of disposable gloves which would make the market for nitrile even larger especially if they stop being $12 for 50 pairs.
  2. They conveniently have direct links to all the City Council members emails on there. Easy way to email them all in support of the project!
  3. It's Clintonville, there isn't parking anywhere! If they keep citing parking as a barrier to development, these crappy old buildings are just going to stay crappy old buildings. Pretty sure that isn't the vibe Clintonville is going for either.
  4. It's going to be a crazy busy Fall construction season in this city! Going to see so much progress on dozens of projects before winter hits I think.
  5. There is a lot of poorly utilized space right around there. Would be nice to see someone do something interesting with one of the underutilized lots/buildings right around that area of High Street.
  6. Do they maybe generate a good amount of property taxes which get funneled back into the schools? You're right about the jobs though, I think back when these were getting built I read at most they employ 50 people or so to operate these enormous facilities. If they were manufacturing facilities or distribution centers of this size they'd be employing hundreds if not thousands of people.
  7. I'm not sure about the details, but I'm fairly certain New Albany made it very enticing for all of those companies to build data centers there.
  8. Yeah apparently the company which purchased the land specializes in industrial and warehouse type developments so I would assume that's what will be happening on this site, but you never know!
  9. Well of course, but they are planning for way ahead in the future with this site and are probably under the assumption that New Albany is eventually going to run out of land approved for these types of uses and that Lancaster is going to continue to grow in both size and infrastructure. I also have to imagine the land in Lancaster was significantly cheaper than purchasing more land in New Albany would be.
  10. I'm sure whatever the cost of ensuring they have stable and high speed internet on that site is pocket change for Google.
  11. Literally anything on this site will be an improvement! Driving into the city from this direction you see more than a few ugly sites like this, hopefully this starts a trend of increased investment into this area.
  12. Yeah I've been in every single school in Licking County as I use to be a health inspector there. Don't think a single one had a pool and more than one of them was a large modern school. State I'm from it was odd to not have a pool. Most of the schools were either at the Newark or Pataskala YMCA I think and sometimes used the facilities at Denison which are honestly amazing.
  13. That's pretty awesome. Having a pool at your high school in Ohio does not seem to be very common.
  14. I wonder if this has to do with both cities being close enough Columbus but also far enough away where they feel like their own places far enough removed from the more sense parts of the metro area. Also both Lancaster and Newark are right on the edge of SE Ohio where the scenery gets really awesome. If you don't need to be within 15min of downtown Columbus, both cities can offer than "we are within an hour of absolutely everything you could want or need and within 30min of not being another single human anywhere near us". If that's something you're looking for, both these cities would be a great option to consider moving to.
  15. I'm fairly certain the estimates have had Newark over 50,000 residents for a couple years now. I remember reading an article about it when it happened. It is crazy to think Newark is the second largest city in Central Ohio! Place has done nothing but improve since I originally moved to the area 5 years ago.
  16. Smart move by the developer. Newark certainly could have used all the housing under the previous proposal, but this will ruffle a lot less feathers since it is more of a desirable area of Newark and Granville can't have as much to complain about. There are plenty of other areas in Newark where higher density housing would fit in with significantly less opposition. I do love the quote in the article about how Granville has had 20 years to prepare for this and it's finally time for these properties to get developed.
  17. This would explain why high street was closed in front of the Hilton on Saturday.
  18. How could I just breeze past the flavor, the absolute most important metric when designing and approving new developments?! If the flavor is surface parking, low density, short buildings and overhead power lines, then obviously they need to preserve that! If those criteria were actually given a flavor, it would probably be the blandest most watery oatmeal with a bunch of sand tossed in there.
  19. Baffling how they don't see that less surface parking and more density in this area is a GOOD thing! This is basically premium walkable territory.
  20. So awesome that things are finally being done to utilize all different portions of the rivers we have here in central Ohio. Keep 'em coming!
  21. I know they will be building some kind of food research center and other smaller buildings over there as well. I use to work right next door and was keeping tabs on it, but I'm just rarely over there anymore.
  22. It seems like way more is going on over there than just 3 buildings right now honestly.
  23. I use to drive through UA every day when I had to go to an office and there were people waiting at all the bus stops. Not really cool to just decide anyone from a wealthy suburb is a "posh" person who would never ride public transit. That's a massive over generalization and an undeserved assumption.
  24. Boy do I hope "significant" means tall!
