Columbus: Downtown: Hilton Columbus Downtown Tower II
I wonder at what point it is safe for workers to start doing interior work. Can't imagine they wait until they top out to start doing things on the inside.

Columbus: Downtown: Lower.com Field / Astor Park
Those poor soccer fans in Austin are already experiencing some of his terrible ownership nonsense. Columbus really won that whole situation. Got to keep our team, get a new stadium and got rid of the worst part (the owner).

By far my favorite sky scraper in the city.

That little view they left open is so awesome. Just need to squeeze some more tall buildings in frame there!

Columbus: Merion Village / Southside Developments and News
As long as the people who use the garden are getting a new one and have ample time to plan so they aren't forced to move plants mid growing cycle, there shouldn't really be any issues. The only argument I can think of is that it's "change" and "different" and some people just can't handle either.

Buckeye Lake: Developments and News

Columbus: OSU Medical Center Expansion
TIm replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionIt really is. Passing around exit 4 on 315 you look left and right and there are like 7 cranes or something to that number. I've only lived in Ohio since late 2016 and in the actual city of Columbus for about 2 years, but the amount of changes I have seen in not just Columbus, but all of Central Ohio in that time is absolutely astounding. There's something to be said about living in an area that is just having boat loads of money invested into it. It's exciting!

Columbus: Franklinton Developments and News
So refreshing to see that things really haven't slowed down this past year. I have to imagine it's only going to pick up now that we seem to be coming out the other side of this virus thing. There are new builds all over this city!

Columbus: Downtown: RiverSouth Developments and News
Old cars use to park there! Of course it's historic! If those bland concrete walls could talk... they'd probably tell us about how old cars use to park there.

Upper Arlington: Developments and News
TIm replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionRight? Was not optimistic. Between this and that 11 story building they have cleared way for on Lane, UA is gong to get tall in certain areas. I bet if these two developments are successful we will see other developers push for large buildings/developments in the area.

I'm just confused why they are calling it a home office.

Columbus: Downtown: Franklin County Government Center Projects
This is exactly the opposite of what they should be doing over there. The city recently released its' Urban Forestry plan and then the county decides to pave over green space? Ridiculous!

Columbus: Downtown: Lower.com Field / Astor Park
I went and drove past this behemoth this past weekend. You really don't get an idea of how huge this thing is until you're right up next to it. It's very impressive. Excited to go see a game here and hopefully get interested in the MLS again.

Newark: Developments and News
TIm replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionDon't really need an indoor range when you can just walk out your back door and safely shoot targets. Lived about 10 or so minutes directly SE of the basket and tons fo properties out that way have built their own home ranges. Was so common to hear gunshots and tannerite explosions in those areas.

Ohio Census / Population Trends & Lists
While the Newark area is it's own little population pocket over there, it's way too close to Columbus to have its' own MSA. I guess you can look at the area you described, with maybe a little further reach into some of the surrounding rural areas although that isn't going to add many people, but you can get from parts of Newark and be in downtown Columbus in under 40 minutes (not during rush hour if that's even still a thing). Just way too close to separate out into its own MSA.

Newark: Developments and News
TIm replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionBasically every other school district in Licking County is building new schools and preparing for growth. Why can't Granville do that as well? They can, they just don't want to, especially if it's "Newark people" who will be the ones filling up the schools. I've said it in this thread before and I'll say it again, Granville is the textbook definition of a NIMBY town. They'll happily cause problems for others but refuse to have any minor inconveniences for themselves.

Upper Arlington: Developments and News
TIm replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionGood question. Honestly I can't really say it matters one way or the other. Either the community says yes lets move forward with the community center or they say no and the developer is still going to develop the site. I'm not sure what amenities UA has in that regard, but a community center sounds like a great idea to me. It's already a pretty busy area and adding the residential units into an already pretty dense area, for UA standards, would likely see that community center getting a lot of use.

Upper Arlington: Developments and News
TIm replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionIt's nice to know there are some architects out there still designing residential buildings that actually look nice. Those senior housing units in particular look fantastic.

TIm replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionSuch a great space that has just been left to rot. Actually building something useful here would be huge. Those two crappy bars probably aren't going to like losing their only parking though. That corner of Main and 11th is not somewhere you want to be around closing time of those bars.

Wow, there's even more activity going on here compared to what you can see when you drive by. This project is moving at lightning speed now that they've broken ground!

Newark: Developments and News
TIm replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionThis is basically just a repeat of every single development which may have some slight impact on Granville. It's the same story every time. Granville won't do anything that is even a minuscule inconvenience for the town but will happily do whatever they want without care for how it impacts the neighbors. It's the picture perfect NIMBY town. They had no problem spending millions to renovate the football field but won't accept residential growth because they may have to possibly think about a new school building at some point in the future. The fact of the matter is they are directly next to a growing city of 50k+ people and are right off 16 with easy access to Columbus. I'm all for preserving the ascetics and small town feel of The Village of Granville, but Granville as a whole needs to make some moves on how to turn the developments happening around them into a positive for the Village and the Township. The developments are coming whether they like it or not, fighting them is just a waste of everyones time and money. Essentially every single school district in Licking County is making improvements and even construction (or recently constructed) new school buildings to account for present and future growth. If Granville just sits on their thumbs and pretends growth isn't happening, eventually their schools won't be able to fit everyone anyways since they so clearly don't want to plan for future growth. And this is a school district that throws money away on a yearly basis. I've been in all of those schools. They've got money and some room to grown. The maintenance guy told me all about all the expensive electronics he gets to take home because the school just tosses them in the trash. They need to get their priorities straight or being anti-growth will really come back to bite them in the future.
