  1. Coyoacan Taqueria to open June 10th at Shaker Square, includes Luchita’s Mexican Restaurant: From Cleveland.com
  2. Similar as in a restaurant/jazz club combo or just the latter? If you're looking for a jazz club then the Treelawn in Collinwood is a great newer venue. Also, one of the DJs for WRUW regularly puts out a comprehensive calendar of all the jazz shows in NEO so you may find something in there too: https://wruw.org/northeast-ohio-jazz-calendar-as-of-2025-02-28/
  3. DEVO - 5/11 at Templelive (Masonic Auditorium)
  4. It's almost like all his kerfuffle about crime was just an attempt to break his lease and not an honest reflection of the current state of Shaker Square 🤔
  5. I know it's pedantic but you said "while the news say he is maintaining operations at Shaker Square", but the only facilities he's keeping open are on Buckeye and Larchmere
  6. Edwins move to the Nighttown space has been discussed in the Cleveland Heights thread but this piece by Ideastream has more info on the future of the soon-to-be vacant Shaker Square spaces: https://www.ideastream.org/community/2025-01-10/edwins-edwins-too-set-to-leave-shaker-square-for-former-nighttown-building "He’s working with Cleveland Neighborhood Progress to sublet the spaces in Shaker Square. Chrostowski said he will continue paying rent on the former location until a new tenant is found."
  7. No you read correctly, Willo misread the article. Despite 2-3 years remaining on the leases for both Shaker Square restaurants, they're closing next month. Very curious what ends up happening with those spaces, hopefully they don't stay vacant for long
  8. Thanks to the NBA Cup there were 2 unscheduled games for every team from 12/10-16, so the G League teams had no way of knowing which days/times to avoid
  9. New venue Globe Iron on the west bank of the flats just dropped their initial slate of shows and there are quite a few heavy hitters (personally psyched for MJ Lenderman and OSEES): https://www.facebook.com/globeironcle/videos/919559846487518
  10. Instead of baseless speculation, you're welcome to peruse the 51 updates Balaton has posted over the years to their GoFundMe where they reiterate their reasons for leaving many times: https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-clevelands-iconic-balaton-restaurant-going?modal=updates Might also take note of their use of racist term "kong flu" and other dog-whistles in addition to the fact that they raised over $100K before dropping the news that they were using that money to relocate, I say good riddance to their departure.
  11. When's the last time you visited? It's been slow for sure but CNP/BBC have made noticeable and substantial improvements since they took ownership
  12. Great news for Shaker Square! Tons of details in the article but I wanted to highlight that this restaurant is coming from the family behind Luchita’s Mexican Restaurant. https://www.cleveland.com/entertainment/2024/09/shaker-squares-culinary-revival-includes-coyoacan-taqueria-brew-to-open-in-october.html?outputType=amp
  13. Word on the street is that Scorpacciata Pasta and Pizza Co will be opening its brick and mortar location on Larchmere Blvd. in the next few weeks, just in time for Larchmere PorchFest on 6/29!
  14. This is absolutely not happening anytime in the short-to-medium term future and would require dismantling the culture Progressive has built. I have colleagues in Akron, Columbus, Colorado, Illinois, Georgia, Massachusetts, and Maryland, among others, and I can tell you I don't believe any of them would be down to relocating to the Cleveland area.
  15. In more Larchmere news, Barroco is moving back into the Hola Tacos space: https://www.facebook.com/Barrocoarepabar/posts/pfbid02sk7BezSJDFU1Sc3esdFqszXFyPb6fVp7kn6KA5RqbW6DavVbwPZLiR5Hc2G69dCJl
  16. https://www.clevescene.com/food-drink/batuqui-to-relocate-to-former-church-building-on-larchmere-44000164
  17. Nelsonville Music Festival rules, this will be my 8th time attending and despite not loving the headliners there's so much to dig into in the undercard
  18. I'm not going to speculate on your age but both the National and War on Drugs are right in the dad-rock zone of appealing to 30-60yr olds, never too late to hop on to the train:
  19. THE NATIONAL THE WAR ON DRUGS LUCIUS 9/21/24 - Blossom Music Center
  20. Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark Wed Oct 9th – Cleveland OH – House of Blues https://www.brooklynvegan.com/omd-announce-north-american-tour/
  21. Anyone have news on the Cedar-Fairmount grocery store? Last update I found was cleveland.com's August article about Trader Joe's and another national chain being interested
  22. @KJPfyi at today's Shaker Square Alliance meeting there were rumblings that Lionheart Capital is exploring buying Shafran's property on Van Aken Blvd
  23. Anyone else been to the Roxy at Mahall's yet? Was just there for Slowdive and while they were incredible, that venue has some serious issues. Felt way oversold, folks were packed like sardines and many were outside the main floor area and could not see the stage. On the top that it was hot and humid as hell, a problem that also afflicts the other concert room.
  24. I doubt it'll happen either but on the other hand, it wouldn't be the first time the Haslems set a precedent that upset all the other owners.
