About the Cleveland theater scene, my girlfriend was a part of it and is now in New York City trying to do it professionally. One of the main reasons for this area being an incubator for theater talent has a lot to do with Baldwin-Wallace College. To my knowledge it is ranked third in the nation for musical theater and is the only musical theater program in the country where the students are required to have a bachelors in music along with performing arts. I think without a school like that our scene wouldn't be nearly as healthy but as long as it's here the Cleveland area is a thriving upstart theater community. I know of at least 7 people in the program who are from Cincinnati as well and they mention how Cleveland's theater scene is larger and healthier and I'm not trying to say something bad about Cincy, that's just what I've heard. Cleveland is lacking a big name regional theater though and if we could just get a few summer stock theaters it would help our scene.
  2. Yeah, i have a really old digital camera that my dad gave me as hand me down and it only has a 2x zoom. So I can't really take advantage of that. MMMM bacon.
  3. There were actually quite a few people out that day but like usual I feel embarrassed when someone spots me taking pictures of them so I stuck to the buildings. There was a wedding going on in the Hyatt, I saw a ton of people out walking, jogging, sight seeing, bike riding, eating outside of restaraunts, laying out by the fountain, and going to the House of Blues. I just don't like taking pictures of people because they might see me and then I'd feel like Paparazzi, and I've seen that crappy Mel Gibson movie and that's the last thing I want to happen to me.
  4. Haha, the pigeons actually turned out to be a coincidence I swear. Minus the one where it was just the pigeon, and the other one where it was just a pigeon. And yes, that picture is looking east on Huron. :)
  5. Hey everybody...I never post here except when I take some crappy pictures of Cleveland. Here are some more that I took today which aren't too different from the ones I took months ago. Hope you enjoy!
  6. Room by Room is actually already shot out of the Cleveland area (Westlake maybe???). So it makes sense that they only said the names of the neighborhoods since they're already located in the area. I know this because my mother would torture me when I was young and make me watch home remodeling shows instead of Power Rangers. And she wonders why I'm in therapy.
  7. Oh I totally agree with both of the responses, I was just saying that I wish the city had people that really wanted to be downtown on a regular basis. I was also being sarcastic about the kids puking at the rapid station, my buddy and I couldn't get over the complete idiocy and complete lack of respect those kids had. I use the rapid as much as I can, eventhough I still have to drive there from Berea, and I found it sad that the kids didn't care about it, and half of them didn't even know it existed before they found out about it as an easier way to get downtown! So, I'm sorry if I confused anyone with my response. I forget that dry commentary doesn't really translate well in print.
  8. I was also downtown, but I stayed around the Great Lakes Brewing Company during the parade because the beer was just calling my name. I have to say that I wish downtown was like that all the time, or maybe a little less busy. My girlfriend lives in NYC because she's doing musical theater, and while I personally like living in Cleveland better, I wish we had some sort of street life that would mimic New York on a regular basis instead of just special events. But, I guess every city wishes they had the street life of New York so what am I talking about? All in all this has been a great year for Cleveland and it seems as if more people are starting to realize that the city in fact isn't a rotting cesspool that turns "dark" at night and becomes a gang and drug war zone after 5 pm. It was also fun to see all of the high school kids puking before getting on the rapid. We really know how to party!

Montecarloss...last time I checked Berea is about 13 or 14 miles southwest of Cleveland. I could be wrong though but when I head downtown it usually takes like 12 to 15 minutes.
  10. Hi everyone! I was bored today so I went for a walk around where I live, which is Berea. For a suburb, Berea has a lot of good things going for it and I wanted to share some pictures with you all. Same old crap as all of my other pictures and I will give you a raise tomorrow if you show up to work without a shirt on. This is where I've spent the last 5 years... That's all for now since I was pressed for time this afternoon. Berea has really nice urban fabric so it makes for a very walkable little suburb. The fact that the college is a big part of the city also helps with keeping the area designed towards pedestrians. You don't really hit too much sprawl until you go pretty far east or west on Bagley, although Middleburgh Heights is the Douche Bigelow of sprawl. Have a great day and I hope you all enjoyed yet another craptastic tour of another city in Ohio.
  11. I would love to live on E. 4th, but as of now I'm stuck living in Berea (which by suburban standards is actually really nice). Again, I'm glad everyone is enjoying the photos since I truly feel that Cleveland is one of the most architecturally beautiful cities in the country.
  12. Hey everybody, thanks for the warm welcome! I'm glad you all enjoyed the pictures and I'm sure I'll go out and get some more on a non-Sunday afternoon. I kinda liked taking post-neutron bomb pictures though because I felt like I had the city to myself. Sometimes that's good, sometimes that's bad but it worked out in the end. And now the obligatory Family Guy quote..."What do you want me to do? Whack a guy? Off a guy? Whack off a guy? 'Cuz I'm married."
  13. Hey everyone, I am new to the forum although I've been lingering around here for months. I wanted my first post to be something monumentally huge, but I figured I would just start with a photo tour of Cleveland. I took these shots this afternoon and this is actually my first attempt to ever do any sort of photography minus pictures of drunk girls at frat parties and other general pleasantries. So without further ado here are my crappy pictures from a crappy digital camera of a beautiful city. No personality, just buildings...hopefully nobody was bored along the way. :)
