Not sure if you're referring to the featured facade , but it looks to me like that's the south facing elevation, which would be east to west.

I've always wished for mid-rises that carry the fabric to the river, but I'm coming around to this pov. Oktoberfest would explode in this space, and the way it leaks into more programmed park space along the river is a great complement.

For example, the spot the photo is taken from is the inner side of a future building wall along MLK.

The cap over 675 marks a change in scale from downtown to neighborhood. it would be a strange break over FWW imo. Also, let's not take any construction cues from that, either. Poured Concrete Classicism is weird.

Always good to see someone who wants buildings on the caps. The corridors created would be pretty nice with the grade change up into downtown.

A moderately tall structure would have a great line of sight on TQL.

Been a while since I've had a Hounddog's pizza. That location has the advantage of feeding off two sides streets. Making that work on both Calhoun and Mcmillan would be an interesting challenge.

White Castle and Donatos were in the Short North before its resurgence. They're also Columbus-based, which changes the meaning of "national chain" in this case. North Star's first location was in the Short North. OTR has a Mikey's Late Night, which is out of CBUS. OTR has a PINS. Not really trying to debunk your claims, I just don't think it's as pronounced as you claim it is, and it's not much of a 1:1 comparison, otherwise. There isn't really a Historicity to the Short North in its current incarnation, nor is there the sense among Columbus residents that the Short North is a one-of-a-kind place like Cincinnatians rightly feel about OTR.

Where does it say in that ANECDOTE that "Many of them used to live in otr though but were priced out and found cheaper housing else where" ? It doesn't. This is an example of why I'm "singling" you out. You twist the story to support a narrative and clang the alarm bells. It's pretty much what you do around here. I come to the development threads to read about development. If I want to read about how scary everything is, I've got the rest of the internet for that.

lawrenceburg has some neat moments. that strip where the casino is (seems like it's an old floodplain) is still pretty bad, though.

This part of town has seen enough of this facade strategy, hasn't it? not a fan...I liked the old preliminary renderings more.
