Huntington Tower 330'

  1. The University's turn around from the absolute mess that it was in the 80s deserves a lot of credit for re-energizing the city.
  2. Agreed. The people can move on, especially if they don't care about the building.
  3. At the very least, and it's admittedly an ugly option, build out over the interchange.
  4. Funny, though, that I'd take these buildings over the ones that are currently there...
  5. I'm 51 years old. My passion for urbanity (and cincinnati urbanity, in particular) goes very specifically back to the frequent trips into downtown through OTR with my Granparents in the 70s and 80s from their house in Westwood. This is a long game. I'm not surprised to see the sentiments above from that particular poster. The post history is alarmist.
  6. that most of the area came into being in the 70s and 80s, and that the 70s and 80s are the sponsor decades of retail hellscapes like tri-county. I would have said the 60s, also, but the area was still pretty rural, pastoral, and single-family then.
  7. I wonder what sort of effect this will have on surrounding real estate. Will the 70s and 80s be deleted from that part of town?
  8. World Class? It doesn't even look East Fork Lake Class.
  9. A little leery of the pin bowling and arcade thing at a place that has so much civic permanence. A good sign for that side of Liberty, overall, I think.
  10. What makes this little pocket of space along a high speed road between the hillside and 75 so appealing, especially for residential?
  11. the rendering above is on the site.
  12. As cool as it was to see the city from a different vantage point, I'm so happy the ferris wheel isn't a permanent fixture on the banks.
  13. I think the bend is kind of nice, especially if the buildings fill the lots. How fast is Central Pkwy here?
  14. Aware of the question. My question stands. Why would the taxpayers build a hotel and what precedent indicates to the wealthy that if they wait, this will happen. The stadia are not a precedent here.
  15. It would be nice to see what happens with the reconfiguration of all the interstate spaghetti that will be affected by a new (or supplementary) Bridge across the Ohio. IMO the best option for the convention center is to push out over 75. Availability of this option would certainly affect the considerations for the block where a new hotel would go. I'm being pollyannaish, though.
  16. 670 got a slight reconfiguration pass about (15?) years ago. They're to support the roads and intersection that straddle the highway. They do get used for bike parking, seating, booth space etc. for comfest, greek fest, etc. I can't remember what it looked like before that. They're otherwise unsightly. I taught an arch studio at OSU years ago where we put residential on them. It was a challenge.
  17. Yeah, the Columbus cap is essentially a widened bridge with double-loaded retail. Quite different than what I would hope FWW would be. Did wonders for High Street, though.
  18. little tough to disembark and go from that spot, though.
  19. I'm all for a boat, but it really doesn't have to be a casino barge dressed up as a steamboat. Let the stuff that's extant from our history tell our history, and make new history with new stuff. Novel idea?
  20. That pastiche of Steamboat motifs at that particular spot is already out of hand. Lose the bits on the stadium, itself, and this might not look like an amusement park.
