  1. the massing is just so uninspired...I don't think you can save it. If something has to stay, the 4 over 1s would be the best place to start do something interesting. As it is now, that rear bit is just big wall that kills a huge part of the view into Newport (or beyond) from downtown.
  2. Wonder if the curtain wall is a part of that.
  3. A hip roof is no less suburban than a gable!
  4. so no last minute redesign incoming... suburban houses in the sky it is.
  5. Through the casino sounds like a casino solution to that problem.
  6. why is everything so binary with you when it comes to building in OTR? There are options in between fake Italianate and Alien Spaceship. A lot of options.
  7. Very interesting that they're suddenly competitive, eh? I mean, I've been all for the bengals getting the boot from the city/county for years...and even I've fallen in love with Joe Burrow.
  8. I'm not very excited about the Enquirer building, either. Not that height=better, but c'mon, it's the center of downtown.
  9. Was looking at the old Helmut Jahn proposal for Fountain Square West and I came across a bit saying that 5/3 owns the air rights. Not sure how current that is, but regardless of who owns them, I hope they can do a little better than 16 floors.
  10. 121 E McMillan...Really hope the elevations get a big redo. It looks like... a dentist's office.
  11. That guy in the third photo disagrees. -- That bridge is one of the quirks of Cincinnati. would be a shame for it to disappear. Also, the entrance to Brighton Station. Here's some documentation of its construction: https://libapps.libraries.uc.edu/liblog/2013/03/brighton-bridge-adventures-in-the-subway-and-street-improvements-digitization-project/
  12. What are European fountains? I'd settle for Kansas City fountains. I'm with above on the wider sidewalks on the edges of the parkway. There could and should be a green median, but it doesn't need to accommodate people. Give the space to buildings, not cars.
  13. I think that tower has moved beyond the proposal phase. I don't understand why there aren't more mid to high rises in the University area. Amazing views to be had.
  14. they look tacked on and under-scaled. They employ strategies (like the pediment on their tops and layered pilasters in their corners) that have no relationship to the building as a whole. The whole building just looks like a bare bones pastiche of fuzzy memories about architectural features. That being said, I'm sure people will eat them up. The cat butt and hind quarters was simply the first thing that came to mind when seeing them.
  15. Those porticos look like cats pausing on their way into the litter box. Hope they got the mark-up.
  16. Looks like what it is...the base of a phantom skyscraper.
  17. With the stadium and this building, the issue is likely one of scale...but also design. The buildings are different. Let's not equate them simply because they don't curtsy in the direction of the 19th century.
  18. still ugly, but through no fault of your own. it's a marked improvement.
  19. the street level stuff I'll give a very reluctant pass, but those towers look like they were designed by somebody at TK Constructors.
  20. They are going to be selling RVs out of that tent in 15 years.
  21. you guys are being surrounded by batsh*t insane theme parks.
  22. Freezing the neighborhood in time and turning it into a theme park is a recipe for dumb. Why can't the new construction in the neighborhood be...new. Add quality neighbors to the historic buildings and those buildings will one day too be historical (imagine that). That's what longevity looks like to me. Not this coloring book approach.
  23. Findlay Market should be embarrassed to be seen with that thing. Why does a city with so much treasure consistently choose to frame that treasure with aluminum foil?
  24. would be amazing if the 75 connectors northwest of FWW/ West of the convention center got buried and the convention center expanded on top of them.
  25. I will concede, having seen the view from Calhoun, that that stairwell will be fabulous. Although this was the early 90s. A lot of the view looks to be obscured now?
