I think I know what you're saying? so I'll attempt to respond? The "arch" at the Auburn isn't an arch. It's a graphic that looks like an arch. And the only thing I'd say to an architect who says that Sullivan inspired that arch, is that they have no understanding of Sullivan. I would really think they'd know better.

Yes, that's all well and good, except for the part about them actually being arches.

If the University would want it, it would be interesting to see a campus-Burnet Woods hybrid on that site. Knowing nothing about the interior, the building and its additions are handsome enough to save imo.

that beer factory (most people call it a brewery) was not an empty lot 3 years ago. Doesn't mean that the second oldest Synagogue (structure) in the city and a building instrumental to the birth of reform Judaism in North America wasn't there... Your brewery, er...beer factory...the one you didn't know was there 3 years ago? It sat above that basement.

The interior with the tables and egress to the sidewalk...will that be public?

Rendering has it at the corner. Looks like the building will be razed.

The space to the left of the project is narrower in the elevation.

Okay, a bit colder take: As is, this is a terrible edge piece. If the eventual(!) capping of FWW means park space, this is still a bad edge piece. While still weak, I could see the massing work if there are buildings on the cap (the cap option I prefer), since the height of those buildings will likely be on the low end. That being said, the concerns about location still seem valid in both cases.

Raze existing buildings and leave the parking? Build seven stories on a site that deserves much more? ugh.
