  1. The thing is begging to be leveled, for God's sake.
  2. looks like a 1980s suburban office park building emerging from a fugue state in a strange town.
  3. St. Louis is not in St. Louis County. The two split in the 1800s.
  4. While I thought the old car-friendly campus of the 80s was fascinating in its broke-down spaghetti complexity, UC has gone from worst to best looking campus in 25 years.
  5. If it helps ease your mind, it's mentioned that Xavier isn't firm on the location of the building. That being said, I think your disappointment is inevitable in this lifetime.
  6. obviously an early rendering, but that xavier style/glass curtain wall hybrid is bizarre.
  7. which begs the question, "should there be only one 'center' in downtown?"
  8. The list of tier 2 tennis tournaments is very short.
  9. That rendering of the arena is hilarious. It looks like the people were cut and pasted from the room the Mona Lisa is in.
  10. Why would you base where you go to school on what you have to drive past to get to it?
  11. The Ascent is above average and seemed to signal that Corporex knew they had to get their heads out of their own design-asses for their own good... apparently not. It was a blip.
  12. That's only the secondary reason why they should be removed. That being said, this seems much less vertical. If so, shame.
  13. The only New York Residents in Times Square are there begrudgingly because they want to see a play. Fountain Square should be for residents first and tourists second.
  14. You're putting your own spin on the truth in this thread in service of your points. Cincinnati grew astronomically in the 19th century...and rapidly in the 20th century... until the 1950s.
  15. Columbus has MLS and the Buckeyes are traditionally a good team.
  16. While I don't think the NBA or NHL are coming to Cincinnati, Indy also has an NFL team... and do people in Cincinnati really care about the Pacers? I always thought Cincinnati was happy with the wealth of NCAA basketball in and around it.
  17. john portman was the architect/developer of many iconic hotels from the 60s, 70s, and 80s...embarcadero, bonaventure, the renaissance center in detroit, etc.
  18. My memory of the signage always defaults to "Central Trust"
  19. Is the bar for this MLS? Because Cincinnati, going back to the 1970s, was a leader in the popularity of soccer in the U.S. Youth soccer has been huge here (and in St. Louis, another newcomer to MLS) far longer than most everywhere else in this country. It's a leading factor in why FCC came screaming out of the gate.
  20. That wasn't snark, it was my genuine first read. The footprint and massing, at least from that angle, is virtually the same, including elevation changes (for the garage) from street level to the center of the site, as along MLK on the SE corner. My reference to reskin was simply to reinforce the above. I would hope that's not what we'll see.
  21. I mistook that image for some early concept of what's already going up on the southeast corner along MLK. It looks like a literal reskin.
  22. This is the project that made SOM. It deserves better.
  23. I think it's a shame SOM wasn't brought in to reimagine the building.
  24. no retail on the corner? that's a shame. When I was in high school, my beater car spent a lot of time on that corner at Hosbrook Motors. edit: it does actually look like first floor retail, office above. cool.
  25. I've long thought a residential tower overlooking eden park where the current park maintenance facilities are (at the south end of Sinton) could have an observation deck/restuarant/etc. run by the parks. The views in all directions would be stunning.
