  3. I was at target sunday, it seem that Cleveland was missing meeting area by over hearing people talk. i heard them said (hi i haven't see you in a long) and best one i heard was from a older lady (thank god i didn't have to drive to Parma any more.) now, we have a place that all clevelander's can go to and not split us up to Parma and North Ho-stead. It will build a stronger community
  4. CLEVELAND -- A wrecking crew took down Joe's Crab Shack in the flats today. http://www.wkyc.com/news/news_article.aspx?storyid=63817
  5. I have a contact who is high up in PR at Wal-Mart and another reason for such security is, some contractors buy lots of goods. Then later in the day or two, go back to the store, with receipt in hand, load up a cart then proceed to register and ask for a refund. From what I understand, this type of behavior has been increasing over the last few years. So for those of you who have been to SYC, what is the security of the grounds like? Does the property have its own security team? Once the ball gets rolling in a few months, I would think the security would need to be present for people walking to/from cars or store to store, as the area is secluded. Yes, SYC has security. they drive around in a white ford label SYC security. its just like other malls.

  7. This building is Mittal Steel's its for the steel sheet line, they're starting a new process which steel sheet needs to travel higher. this is the second time the height on this building has been changed. I know this because Mittal buys my company's products. and I have been in this building
  8. KJP, Speaking of the no car access issue. How is RTA re-routing it's existing bus service to serve Steelyard Commons? Are there any new lines being created for Steelyard? NO, but it might be in syc furture, they currently building big bus shelters.
  9. Last nite i had gone to Home Depot's opening, I think this might be Home Depot's best store in NEO. Its very bright inside and lots of displays. best of all (they painted little less orange inside.)
  10. Brian Cummins is ward 15 councilman :-D
  11. This is from Bill Callahan blog... he live down the street from me. :-o http://www.callahansclevelanddiary.com/?p=173 Since one of the topics of this blog is supposed to be real life in Cleveland, I guess I should report that I got robbed at gunpoint in my backyard Friday evening. Two gunpoints, actually. Pointed at me by a couple of young men in hoodies who followed me into the backyard as I was returning from a pizza run, demanding that I come down off the porch and give them “the money”. They got my wallet and took off, and I went in the house, locked the doors and called 911. The police arrived in less than five minutes. They took the best descriptions I could give (not very good) and a couple of zone cars actually went searching for the two guys. They brought back one kid for me to look at. No, sorry, I couldn’t honestly identify him. The truth is, I was looking at the guns, not the faces. What did my robbers get for their felonious trouble? A driver’s license, a library card, some business cards and a dollar bill. So now I have to go replace the license and the library card. And be more careful about locking the house and the car, and about who else is on the street when I’m going for pizza. Nothing is really all that different. Nothing I wasn’t aware of all along. Except now I know what it’s like to have a couple of guns pointed at me, by a couple of guys I never saw before and had no idea what they might do next. Real life. and here is the responds from Brain Cummins who lives two blocks alway in Brooklyn Centre brianjcummins Says: January 24th, 2007 at 3:27 am Bill — very sorry to hear this happened to you. It is very scary, and I’m afraid too common in recent weeks. Thank goodness you were not physically injured. Two of our neighbors on Mapledale had a similar experience back on Jan. 1st – mugged at gun-point at the back pedestrian exit of the shopping center, 11:00 pm, coming from Convenient by 3 to 5 young men in hoodies – unfortunately they did not report the crime ☹. Our old Jeep was stolen from our drive the same evening (recently recovered); another neighbor by Riverside and 32nd had their car stolen last week and you probably heard about the violent homicide that occurred on Riverside several Saturdays ago. All very depressing, and an indicator of what appears to be a crime spike that is lingering since Christmas and the warm weather that followed. FYI – there will be a Crime & Safety meeting this Thursday, Jan. 25th at 7:00 pm at the Archwood UCC, which will be utilized to hopefully squelch rumors on the street relative to the murder on Riverside. These other crime trends will also be discussed. In addition, with assistance from the local development corp., the 2nd District Police and Huntington Bank, we’re holding a Brooklyn Centre Merchant’s meeting next Monday morning at 7:30 am at the Brooklyn Centnre Huntington Branch for area businesses to discuss crime trends in the commercial district (a few recent break-ins), as well as what more can be done to have businesses better coordinate safety strategies. I will be going to the meeting @ UCC Thursday!
  12. I heard on NPR that Lola has opened, today.
  13. The actions i like to see is, a) raise the income taxes and hire more police, b) have the city and county work together and/or form a county police dept. what make me mad is that Jackson would have yelled has head off if this in ward 5. I like to know what the crime levels are now vs. when campbell was in office, in ward 5.
  14. Yes and No, Jackson campgain on crime levels of 2005 and now there is more of it in 2006. and he has been quiet the whole time. hell he has been quiet about everything, and when he does talk, his anwser 50% of the time is "i don't know nothing about it." but i know that, its money, the gun laws and other things. Who else is there to blame?
  15. Since Jackson took office, The westside has become a blood bath. Five kills in the last two months. and those are murders that media covered, i wonder about the unknowns. i can't wait to the crime report for 2006!
  16. FT LAURERDALE MAYBE
  17. The downtown housing market would fly if they had condo's from $90-175's. i would love to live downtown but not for $230-1300's. plus maintain fees.
  18. Can we do a capture and release program instead of breedings.
  19. Add one to Cleveland's Population numbers, i convince a co-worker from out of state to move to the city limits, he was just hired permanently, and had live temporally in twinburg. finally a win! Making Cleveland bigger one person at a time!
  20. I didn't move because of section 8, i moved in with my other half. also i will never move out of city! what i have done is join the Southwest Area of Concern Citizens Group. and i have actively call my councilman. i have called the home owener who lives in burbs. (i have not giving up, i still own the house its been my family for 60 yrs, i have own it for 5yrs now.)
  21. I think section 8 is needed for elderly folks, and temporary for folks who have fallen in to hard times. But as a Brooklyn centre resident I see section 8 destroying our streets. The house next store to me just became section 8, 9 months ago. Within two months US Marshal arrested 18 yr old male there for a shooting on the east side. He is part of the D-20 gang. And it didn’t stop there they are selling drugs as well, and running a daycare from home. So as it stand right now section 8 is leaving a bad taste in my mouth. Now I moved, but my mom is renting that house from me, and I still hearing stories from her. I moved to the South Hills area of Old Brooklyn, it’s a great place and its quiet and I didn’t know of any section 8 there.
  22. I can care less about Wal mart, I happy for a near by Target and Home depot. i am tried of driving 10-20 miles out. syc will save $$ on gas! and gave local cleveland kids jobs If SYC fails, cleveland will have clean land to work with.
