Cleveland: Tremont: Development and News
I absolutely agree. And @Ethanbrings up good points and clearly is very knowledgeable on the subject. I'm sure everyone of us here at UO are avid stargazers, my only point is that to complain about light pollution from projects of this scale is simply nitpicking. But, there will always be people that have something to complain about. We could go round and round about the hazards of aesthetic lighting, the electronics we are using to make these very posts, etc. etc. If done right and modestly, I have absolutely no problem with it. And frankly, if the people that put up the big bucks to get projects built want some lighting, that's their choice.

Ok rulebook, no lights for you. We shall live in darkness.

I highly doubt decorative and landscape lighting on buildings such as the one above cause much light pollution or even use much electricity. Sure, we don't need every structure or tower in the city bathed in light, but this in no way qualifies as "massive amounts." I agree mostly with your point, but this is small time stuff that greatly enhances the property appearance, makes it feel safer and adds a place for people to hangout at night.

Cleveland: Downtown: Rockefeller Building Rehab-Additions
I know you were, it's all good lol. But I agree, although I will die on the hill that a building named the Lumen having no lighting on it is preposterous. Especially that far set aside on the skyline it is.

Apologies. A dark building looks much better, what was I thinking.

Any plans for exterior lighting?

What are those black panels they are putting on the exterior insulation? Does the metal adhere to that stuff? Also, just checked the construction cam and those concrete forms for the swoop are two floors high!

Cleveland: Random Development and News
Wow, such pessimism going on here. I think this is a great thing, especially for downtown residents living nearby that would prefer somewhere much closer to them than Wade Oval. I think the two can coexist without a hitch and I'm surprised to see negativity about something new and fun in the heart of downtown.

Here is the video. He mentions it near the beginning.

Cleveland: Downtown: Skyline 776 (City Club Apartments)
I remember watching a video on Cleveland Construction twitter where they were doing a little tour of the building and the guy made a quick comment about how it will officially be 25 floors. Did he misspeak or are they counting the rooftop structures?

So does this basically put the kibosh on a Ballpark Village for a long time? I thought this lot was going to be incorporated into it.

So did Julie Mehretu start her masterpiece on the Standard Building yet? This project was reported over a year ago, so not sure what is up with it.

The Ritz is right there. As well as the future Hotel Cleveland. And the coming riverfront development. Not to mention people visiting JACK. Would these guests and residents rather go to a classy jazz/blues bar (which Downtown is severely lacking) with classy furniture and great food/cocktails. Or a spaceship, alien movie, asteroid themed restaurant. Apologies for the pessimism, but I see this as a HUGE wasted opportunity.- Cleveland: Downtown: Tower City / Riverview Development
This is way too gimmicky for me. I'm grateful the space is finally being occupied, and I truly wish them success, but I really do not see this lasting very long. "An entertaining dining experience for sci-fi movie fans." Sounds like a very niche market to me. Buena suerte.- Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
Yayyy woohooo look at that height!! Diners on the roof of Fahrenheit can look down on it. Drywall should be done by lunchtime. All jokes aside, at least it is something. I'm sure it will look nice, especially with the planned landscaping.- Cleveland: Downtown: Justice Center Complex Replacement
@zbaris87I know you have to be tight-lipped for now, but how much detail of this project do you know so far? Location, height, architect? Is it something we will all be ecstatic over? A whale of a project and I hate not knowing!!!! 😠- Cleveland: Downtown: Skyline 776 (City Club Apartments)
