olentangy is a native-american word, it was the name the delaware tribe gave to a different river... the new locals just messed up all the names. the olentangy should be named whetstone, and either the scioto or the big darby creek is supposed to be named olentangy
  3. usually, the visible distance in nautical miles is explained as = 1.17 x the square root of the height (in feet), so even at the top of dragster, there are still nearly ten miles of water before pelee island. so unless someone throws a mirror up really high and you catch the reflection, you can't see canada
  4. those birds look like sea birds, they don't really fly in this area

  11. isn't this mural called something that has to do with a cliff?
  12. they got rid of their nut brown ale! :( when they did that i think they changed their porter too...at least to me it tasted different
  13. well, it does go along with the proud columbus tradition of destroying it's history :drunk:
  14. and that's 3.27% of the whole city, where 2/3 of it is suburban. a problem with these lists is it lists the whole city, so columbus gets it bad even though parts of it are as walkable as cambridge or ann arbor or whatever
  15. the first columbus zoo was in clintonville, the second one was in franklin park
  16. cleveland and 5th is the milo grogan neighborhood, not weinland park... or you could call it the chicken district like most people do
  17. i agree with the no name calling part... but 3 of the first 5 posts cinci_guy has made: "Because Columbus is a crappy town." "Face it, besides OSU, Cbus sucks the big one." "Gee if the only thing Columbus can do better than Cincy is finish a study, then no wonder why it is a shi!!y town" none of that has any place here either
  18. hmmm... bah! they didn't even do anything in the counties
  19. uhhh...its refering to an area 4th/5th streets area (hence 4th/5th district..not street). (i know)
  20. or they could actually run more than four buses a day. anyplace can make money if they got paid but didn't provide the service. just imagine if a retail store didn't sell anything but people still gave money to them everyday anyways
  21. "Cincinnati: Would West 5th/4th Make a Good Entertainment District?" if any city would name a street West 5th/4th, Cincinnati would be the one to do it :-P
  22. From the 12/17/06 Lima News: New museum space on track to open in May BY BART MILLS - Dec. 17, 2006 LIMA — For Pat Smith, it seems as though the new Allen County Museum addition is taking forever. But any time that thought comes to her, she reminds herself of what her predecessors dealt with. Smith has been working on the two-phase museum makeover since she arrived as its director in 2000. She said she hopes to see the first phase of the project completed by May. But the wait is nothing compared to the time it took to build the original museum. The current museum project has had its share of setbacks. Board members began seriously discussing the need for a new space in the mid-1990s. It wasn’t until 2001, when the museum received $600,000 from the state, that the project began in earnest. Eventually, a professional fundraiser was brought in to train the board and help with raising funds. The project was split into two phases, the first of which is budgeted at about $4.2 million. Phase Two will probably cost about the same, although Smith said no time frame has been set for that part of the project. More at http://www.limanews.com/story.php?IDnum=33270
