Corning, NY + Williamsport, PA
Corning, New York population ~11,000 -most of these are in Market Street Historic District… Market Street runs parallel to the Chemung River, and is pretty much the only street in the downtown with commercial buildings. The one road is quite long in length (not as ridiculous as Hudson NY though, but is still quite excessively linear in layout) There is also a little neighborhood at the end which is across the river, near the big glass making factories. Rockwell Museum of Western Art: One more look at this: _______________ Williamsport, Pennsylvania -population ~30,000 -Lycoming county seat old City Hall: Post Office… now City Hall: Great details in the city, but unfortunately they never learned how to spell: The Lycoming County Courthouse is this: (The 1860 Courthouse was destroyed in 1969)

Columbus: Franklinton Developments and News
Summit Street replied to G3000's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionThe one in Dayton really does look like it has a garage. Can anyone find an exact copy of the Dayton one, with that part of it actually used for a garage? It wouldn't surprise me if the designer just used a previous suburban-like plan, but removed a garage when the city found it improper. / It does seem like a good thing for Franklinton, though. That neighborhood does need some good things, even if they look silly.

More awful news! I really doubt they were acting without intention when they started the extra demolition.

Columbus: Clintonville Developments and News
Summit Street replied to Summit Street's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionInteresting about that 2725 N High location... On November 4th they were in the University Area Commission Zoning agenda, and November 5th they were in the Clintonville Area Commission. ( http://www.clintonvilleareacommission.org/index.php/documents-minutes-agendas/cat_view/44-variance-and-zoning.html?orderby=dmdate_published ) Whichever, the plans have been rejected and withdrawn. The only other mention for the future of the site I have heard is a park connecting the the river and the ravine, and the plan includes buying the Tim Horton's plot. ?

STL (part 3: central corridor of St Louis)
Central Corridor of STL: Central West End: (Lewis Place gate) (Washington Terrace Gate) The neighborhoods in STL often flow smoothly from one to another, and with that they don't always have distinct natural boundaries. This part contains Midtown (a little sliver just north of and including St Louis University) and Covenant Blu/Grand Center: Samuel Cupples House - right in the middle of STL U. Sun Theater - currently being renovated: I think it is saying something about a city that has a house designed by HH Richardson, and it is comparatively nondescript compared to the city's other houses. The Lionberger House was his last house designed: Next section is from further east in the Midtown area 'Jewel Box' in Forest Park: STL = Sea Turtle Land if you haven't realized yet... little bit of Wydown/Skinker: Downtown STL: _____________________________ STL (part 1: non-central corridor STL) http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php/topic,28835.0.html STL (part 2: areas outside of St Louis) http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php/topic,28836.0.html STL (part 3: central corridor of St Louis) http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php/topic,28837.0.html

STL (part 2: areas outside of St Louis)
non-STL STL: Delmar Loop area - half of it actually is in STL, half in University City: next four are in University City (nearby is Washington University STL) St Charles, MO: First capital of Missouri… ~25 miles NW of STL Belleville, IL: …it has a MetroLink station. ~15 miles SE of STL Clayton on the western STL border… County seat of St Louis County (which does not include STL) …felt like Tampa FL without the palm trees, or Bellevue WA without the whatever. _____________________________ STL (part 1: non-central corridor STL) http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php/topic,28835.0.html STL (part 2: areas outside of St Louis) http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php/topic,28836.0.html STL (part 3: central corridor of St Louis) http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php/topic,28837.0.html

STL (part 1: non-central corridor STL)
non central corridor STL: Forest Park Southeast (The Grove): Fox Park: Hill: Lafayette Square: within Bellefontaine Cemetary - Wainwright Tomb (Louis Sullivan): Busch Mausoleum: big hospital in Southwest Garden in some industrial area a few miles north of downtown: another big hospital… seems it is in a neighborhood called Peabody Darst Webbe. (which I learned thanks to reading http://nextstl.com/groth-guides/groth-guides-to-the-neighborhoods-of-the-city-of-st-louis ) : Old North: Carr Square: old bear pits in Fairground Park: beware of McKee St Louis Place: Cherokee St. (in Benton Park, Benton Park West, Marine Villa, and Gravois Park all seem to have this border…maybe?): Compton Heights (and maybe a little Shaw and Fox Park too): Tower Grove (or something bordering it): I remember that this house was about half a block south of Gus' Pretzels, so I think we've been in Benton Park for a little while again: Tiffany (big hospital is for STLU medical center): back into Shaw neighborhood: (Hawthorne gate) Soulard: this one is part of the Anheuser Busch area: _____________________________ STL (part 1: non-central corridor STL) http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php/topic,28835.0.html STL (part 2: areas outside of St Louis) http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php/topic,28836.0.html STL (part 3: central corridor of St Louis) http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php/topic,28837.0.html

Columbus-Lima-Fort Wayne-Chicago Passenger Rail
Both Franklin County and Cuyahoga County have about 750,000 people living in suburban areas. Both Cleveland and Columbus have exurbia beyond their counties as well. The suggestion that only Columbus is sprawling is beyond absurd. I will add though, that 10 trains a day does seem very ambitious to start out with.

Terre Haute, IN
Terre Haute, Indiana Population ~60,000 Metro ~170,000 First, have a quick aerial look at Terre Haute in 1931: http://images.indianahistory.org/cdm4/item_viewer.php?CISOROOT=/P0129&CISOPTR=1232&CISOBOX=1&REC=1 Unfortunately, the downtown looks considerably less intact now. Sporadic, incohesive, and full of destroyed parcels replaced by things like fast food drive-thrus. The grand Courthouse is separated from the rest of downtown by an area plotted with things that would fit more along the Interstate exit. Indiana State University is adjacent to downtown as well…although they appear to keep themselves apart from anything regarding downtown. Vigo County Courthouse!: If only the locals would put the same care and enthusiasm into their downtown as they do to their shiny pickup trucks…

Columbus-Lima-Fort Wayne-Chicago Passenger Rail
How about if we upgrade CHI-CLE-NY and also give Columbus a rail line? (and and rail within the city too, please :) ) Is there a reason you say to send the line through Dayton and Indianapolis instead of Lima and Ft. Wayne? I don't know for sure, but I don't think there is already a rail that goes that route, and track would have to be completely laid for that to work.

Cincinnati - September 2013/January 2015
Nice! It is good to see some neighborhoods not in the adjecent-to-or-within-the-downtown area.

Rockford, IL
Rockford, IL -Population ~150,000 -Metro ~350,000 -Fifth largest city in the country that only uses the letter o for all the vowels in the name -Rock River goes through the center -Located in far northern Illinois, about halfway between Des Moines IA and Flint MI Winnebago County Courthouse (?!):

Columbus-Lima-Fort Wayne-Chicago Passenger Rail
So you feel that based on time you spent in a Columbus suburb gives you a better idea if the plan would work, compared to the professionals that actually studied how well this would work?

Evansville, IN
Evansville, Indiana Population ~117,000 Metro 350,000 Vanderburgh County Courthouse: (Henry Wolters) Sheriff/Jail…also designed by Henry Wolters Old Post Office, designed by Alfred B. Mullett It appears they built a skyscraper to look like a parking garage. This disgusting piece of crap shouldn't be anywhere near a Richardsonian Romanesque masterpiece, let alone within one block of it.: Seems like I possibly missed a festival or something similar in this grass block: (1930): (former) Greyhound station(1938) (1916) Main Street is not straight within downtown… designed with a single lane of traffic and one for parking, the road curves left and right with alternating bump outs.

Owensboro, KY + Henderson, KY
(Kentucky) Owensboro Population 58,000 Metro ~115,000 Daviess County Seat… which is named for a guy named Daveiss. IE? EI? Oh... The main road was getting a total repave, so the area was a bit strange County Courthouse: ///////////////// Henderson Population ~27,000 Considered within the metro of Evansville, IN I think this is considered the Henderson County Courthouse: This one is also a judicial building for the county: Ohio River: Audobon Museum: (ornithology)

Columbus: Clintonville Developments and News
Summit Street replied to Summit Street's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionThe CAC seems to believe it is in 1970s, like UrbanSurfin said... I'd say they don't think of themselves as an urban neighborhood (even though it is along High St.), but pretend to be a tiny little great-lakes-style or New-England village. If they repudiate long enough, they can become the showcase of Columburb. I personally don't expect anything worth existing to happen north of maybe Weber Road or that area for quite some time, if ever. //// That parcel is under the University Area Commission. Based on recent decisions by them, I remain hopeful that they will inform them to get lost.

Sounds exciting! Especially good considering they aren't tearing down any historical buildings or churches for this one.
