  1. ^ They were one hell of a live act during that era!! RIP Brian. You were one a one of a kind talent.
  2. Gilbert can somewhat easily help to create a more urbane version of Peninsula, OH right there along the river, except with far more potential for amenities. I honestly don't think most people realize the tremendous opportunity the Towpath represents for locals and travelers alike.
  3. Someone at the station said it was policy to try to engage as many viewers as possible on social media. Common sense tells me if he ever texted anything improper it would have been screenshotted and we would all know about it. What I heard was that he was being compensated somehow for promoting businesses who weren’t sponsoring the station.
  4. These points are so obvious it's almost hysterical. Also, who the hell in their right mind wants to live in such close proximity to an international airport?

Small world alert: my sister and her boyfriend had a small hippie store in the 70s and 80s in San Diego, it was called The Inner Mission. They sold crystal, books, jewelry, yoga mats....but the vast majority of their business plan was selling "other" stuff that wasn't on display in the store. Anyhow Luke's dad was their best customer. When I was a kid they would always send me Bill Walton autographed everything. For years I really had no idea who the guy even was lol. I kinda wished I could run into Luke sometime and tell him a few of the stories about his dad. They're all priceless.
  6. I am not sure I follow that last line. The close distance immigrants I know (Mexican) work almost non-stop. Their families are back in Mexico and they likely will go back to Mexico to retire. They aren’t really here to acclimate bit their presence is beneficial: they are paying taxes and likely not even eligible to receive those benefits.
  7. The Brew Pub lighting at the bar area had been pretty awful. It made everyone in there look 10 years older lol. An historic and warm space like that needs much more intimate lighting. I hope they don't mess with the cellar bar too much.
  8. The Elks lodge - and me - were both immortalized in this movie scene:
  9. Some update pics of the ongoing YEARS of construction for the proposed Birdtown Brewing Company.
  10. Interesting this positive story comes out the same day as some much less positive news regarding the Museum, management and some negative side-effects from the cost of the renovations. Not sure this is on topic, but it is something you can search for. Anyhow the place does look great in pictures. I am hopeful to find some time when I am in town to visit my stegosauras.

RIP David Thomas. Here is Dave with Pere Ubu in what is perhaps the most Cleveland music video ever.

I have no doubts the city would support an NHL team. That being said I don’t need The Monsters (or the San Diego Gulls) to be in the top league in order to love seeing the games. The AHL is quality hockey and the fans make it fun.

Love it. Also, it was nice to see live/updated views of the city skyline on television instead of stock file footage from several years ago.
  17. I remember not being able to find them recently, but originally there were fantastic renderings of this land bridge idea with the Convention Center location studies.
  18. You think people would do the same. But my experience was people were not getting it.
  19. Not to mention the confusion of drivers constantly being in the wrong lane. The whole setup is pretty counterintuitive in my experience. But that was at the beginning, maybe things have gotten better with more familiarity?
  20. It's a one dimensional district. Or at least perceived as one dimensional. Does anyone know...can you get breakfast there?
  21. Still have not seen Ted Lasso! Picture it like this: MLS is like traditional Mac computer....it's well-designed, has great marketing and brand awareness and beloved, but it is more "closed architecture" so while all models will be pretty darn good, they aren't easy to access or upgrade. Now USL is gonna be more like traditional PC. Cheaper options to buy. Some will be pretty good, others just okay or maybe even terrible...but each computer is more their own entity and capable of very significant upgrades, or downgrades. Cities like Cleveland, Buffalo, New Orleans, Oakland, Detroit, Indy, Tampa, Phoenix, OKC, Pittsburgh, Las Vegas etc. etc. are "PC metros" that, unlike Cincy, missed out on that early Apple/MLS stock and now most cannot afford the buy-in. So, that's where USL plays a major role by giving all these left out metros a chance to compete at a high level.
  22. Fair points, and I agree. From what I have read USL isn't really trying to "compete" with MLS, at least not in the traditional sense. But one x-factor USL has going for it is there is no salary cap. So what I can envision happening in the future is USL having a few superteams who could potentially beat anyone. But strong agree that from a league standpoint it won't be as high quality as MLS.
  23. I am no longer so optimistic about Cleveland soccer lol.
  24. My apologies if you already know this, but the USL is reorganizing and its top tier will be sanctioned at the same level as MLS. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2025/feb/13/usl-division-i-league-mls-paul-mcdonough#:~:text=The United Soccer Leagues (USL,the same level as MLS.
