The Ohio State University Buckeyes Football Discussion
It's hard to disagree with this. There is a certain level of bureaucracy to hide behind.

I just noticed that the plaza columns on the corner are from the hospital.

Cleveland Neighborhoods
That "pruning is great!" mantra was common many years ago when I worked for a landscaper. I suppose if you have fruit trees a different standard applies, because if you've been to an apple orchard those trees are truly mangled. Any UO tree experts want to weigh in on this?

Cool. I'd guess the proximity to Oberlin played a part in that.

Oh man, as a lapsed member of the National Arbor Day Foundation, that was hard to watch.

^ Right. The city has a really interesting past when it comes to the topic. First black mayor, riots, white flight, etc. Some background: ABOLITIONISM. The contribution that Clevelanders made to the cause of black emancipation was related to 2 geographic factors: the location of the city in the Puritan New England environment of the WESTERN RESERVE, and its position on Lake Erie opposite the shores of Canada, destination of many hundreds of fugitives from the slave South. The village, town, and city that Cleveland became during the antebellum years did not wholly reflect the hard piety and humanitarian zeal for which the surrounding counties of Yankee settlers were long renowned. Instead, Cleveland was like most other fast-growing northern centers of trade: crass, money-conscious, pragmatic, and chauvinistic about Flag, Work, and Progress. Clevelanders were generally skeptical of plans to rearrange society, but like most northerners they had little regard for slavery as a system. In time they came to despise the slaveholders' arrogance and pretensions to political power. Although Cleveland did not rally to the cause of root-and-branch abolitionism, its record of sympathy and help for the black man's plight in America matched, if not exceeded, that of any other metropolitan center in North America, with the exception, perhaps, of Boston and Toronto. https://case.edu/ech/articles/a/abolitionism

There are still a lot that we don't know. Or maybe I just don't know. We these dispute calls based on physical violence? If they're based on them yelling at each other that's a big difference.

I don't think that's not an apt description. She did send the texts to just about everyone. More like she complied with others who went to great lengths to cover this up.

The parking entrance if off Lakeside. That section of Lakeside is a tragedy lol.

So, does this thread go to the "abandoned projects" section?

Agree, I'm concerned that much of the charm will be removed from the place. I'm guessing some of the "demolition" has to do with code requirements for food service.

I'm hopeful I'll live long enough for VR to make that possible.

Reminding me that for whatever reason lake views don't carry anywhere near the same value as ocean views. Very disappointing.

Cleveland Browns Discussion
Agree with your assessment. This is the first time this century the team has NFL-level talent across the board. Really this season is all about coaching, finding out if Hue and co. can outfox the opposition.

Nice! This area has come a looong way just in the past two years. By all accounts a great investment, congrats!

Curious. If the outlets looked more like this, what I'd call waterfront architecture, would that change anyones mind?

One weird thing though, whenever I travel with friends at some point in the trip they almost always gravitate toward recognizable retail. I think this can work. But at the same time the city can not allow a totally cut-off, traffic snarling exurban design. Demand a good building. And for the love of God give people the option to take RTA or park somewhere else downtown and walk there.

Dumb question, am I senile, or wasn't this project initially proposed for north of the Shoreway?

Respectfully disagree. I think McCormack is a "big picture" guy... especially when the proposal isn't a fly by night operation LOL. I'm not guessing what they will do here, I'm telling you what they have directly told me in private meetings. Dang, alright I'll take your word for it. I'll be there with four manikins with voice-recorded, pro-development statements projected from them. Young man. The fact you incorrectly spelled "mannequin" shows your (lack of) age! See, that's how I spelled it originally... then spell correct changed it... so I googled "manaquin" and the suggested search was manikin. My mind has been f**ked Ha! It's 2018 and it's probably time to change it to "Personequin." But seriously, I'm not going to be at all surprised if a small but vocal opposition shuts this development down.
