  1. Because you can theoretically buy a team with much better talent than an MLS team.
  2. Search images for Stone Brewing Escondido to get an idea of what a large production facility can look like.
  3. The USL doesn't have a salary cap. So it would be super intriguing to have a Mark Cuban grab investors to assemble an entire team of ringers who could surpass the MLS squads. I wanna say the guy who owned and was restarting the NY Cosmos was that type of guy. Also agree promotion/relegation makes a lot of sense for USL. I always like the idea of an underdog situation where the teams like Albany's or Salem NC can graduate and play the bigger dogs in USL like OKC, Tampa, Pittsburgh, Detroit, Phoenix, hopefully Cleveland....
  4. Looking fine!!! Never in a million years would anyone realize that was Eddie & Iggy's or SideQuest (RIP)

^ Love it! I'm headed back to the CLE in a few days...may have to pay immediate visit to Mr. Sweet Pork Wilson hahaha
  6. FYI The Cleveland Monsters lead the AHL in attendance: https://www.news5cleveland.com/sports/local-sports/cleveland-monsters-have-highest-attendance-average-in-ahl-for-good-reason
  7. MLS won't be happening anytime soon for Cleveland but that could be a good thing. There's enough metro areas that will have USL teams, and MLS being more "exclusive" allows for USLC to grow. Cleveland would be a great add for the league and close rivals in Pittsburgh, Detroit and Louisville.
  8. It was a fun, unique tucked-in waterfront setting but yes, it absolutely could have or should have had some beautification done. I always hoped the venue and even the rib festival seasonal layout would remain as seeds to grow along with an attractive new development (accessible by Boardwalk!!!) but hey, what can ya do. It definitely was a million times better than a waterside parking lot :-)
  9. Just a reminder that NWSL averages +10 k per game with attendance increasing almost 50% year after year. The San Diego team averages 20,194 fans per game! https://www.nwslsoccer.com/news/attendance-viewership-engagement-soar-at-halfway-mark-of-2024-nwsl
  10. I honestly thought the free world was trending away from this kind of impenetrable fortress style architecture.
  11. Looking cool! So any guesses as to how long the Cavs facility will be surrounded by active construction?
  12. Have you seen Battery Park? The entire area is a mix of public and private space and by the looks of it has been wildly successful.
  13. RIP another icon. Did not know he went to St. Ed's. https://www.today.com/popculture/news/phil-donahue-dies-rcna167132
  14. Yeah...just please no dark-tinted windows at street level.
  15. I hate these. My friends have nearly been killed on Madison. I also remember Clifton during early rush hour, so ridiculous. Half the cars would stop for pedestrians and the others would not. It was like a demolition derby but with worse drivers.
  16. Speaking of politics, any insights on how state help for the Haslams affects the other team owners in Ohio?
  17. ^ Accel Schools, styled ACCEL Schools, is a for-profit education management organization that operates 77 charter schools and 15 online schools primarily in Ohio. Accel schools have operated on significantly lower budgets than other Cleveland schools.[1] Since 2014, it has taken over schools operated by I Can, Mosaica Education, and White Hat Management.[2] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Accel_Schools * Mosaica and White Hat were run so terribly. I'm sure the owners made a fortune because they certainly weren't paying the teachers.
  18. ^ Definitely sounds like a guy who has NOT yet received a duffel bag full of cash.
  19. Well you technically could have.

^ It's about time we had an apex predator with some street cred!
  21. The New York Post is running the Bobby George story.
  22. Just had a random thought. With basketball and the NBA soaring in popularity on a global level, are we underestimating the development potential adjacent to the Cavs facility? Adding the internationally renowned Cleveland Clinic to the mix along with the promise for a degree of public access makes this new district a really intriguing prospect. Could this stretch along the river between turn into our smaller, more intimate and pedestrian-friendly version of Chicago’s Magnificent Mile?
  23. San Diego FC will be sharing with SD State football but I agree, the MLS doesn’t want large stadiums.
  24. Agree. I thought TC going residential would help kickstart something to build from. Also: Casino. Wish there was more clarity for what they were intending. It is sobering that even with all of his connection to retailers Stark wasn't able to get anything going either.
