Cleveland: Downtown: The Centennial (925 Euclid Redevelopment)
Anyone else see the future Skylift terminal on the roof? Ha!

Does Lucky's offer sushi in their prepared foods section? If not a sushi place would be a great fit there. Yes, they do, and it's actually pretty good sushi too. That may have killed the sushi shop owner's biz plan. Something else fast-quasi healthy would be great like a Pita Pit. There's already Liquid Planet though. Maybe the area could support both?

Urban Ohio "Picture Of The Day"
Cool! I always loved the look of those 912's, but I guess they're not exactly fast.

Brady strikes again. I'm sorry to see the house-like storefront slated for demolition. I feel like keeping it would be a good compromise and keep the street and neighborhood feel more intact. Oh well, it's just so freaking draining to see the mistakes of the past repeated again and again in Cleveland. Can we get together a mock petition to revoke Brady's degree? Councilwoman Brady earned her Bachelor of Arts degree, Cum Laude, in Urban Studies with a major in neighborhood revitalization from Cleveland State University's Levin College of Urban Affairs.

MLS: General News & Discussion
Detroit specifically is already vying for a team with Dan Gilbert and other heavyweights involved. Austin is the sexy, still-single, young new era market that is looking for a prom date. Precourt just has virtually no connection with Columbus. I think the fact that you cannot have top-level teams in both Austin AND San Antonio shows a real problem with U.S. soccer.

That deal fell through due to the parcel not being able to properly stack the correct number of cars on the property. That entire block (including the church) is vacant and under contract with developer searching for a use. That whole area is a strange mishmash of suburban vs. urban land use. A microcosm of Lakewood.

Darn, I actually quite like the Educator's Music building. I didn't realize they had closed. I just bought guitar strings from there not too long ago.

Cleveland: Downtown: A.J. Celebrezze Federal Building Renovation
^ Oh yeah, the "urban forest" haha. Central to the design is the concept of an urban forest that, together with careful modeling of the ground and layout of paths and low walls, form a protected microclimate, while remaining open and inviting to the city. https://www.theolinstudio.com/anthony-j-celebrezze-federal-building/

Bronze is very much back in style. I'm with Litt. The Mass plan does look dated, but in a good way imho.

2018 U.S. Senate Race
I'm skeptical. This could easily lead to companies simply laying off workers. It's not likely a good policy that could actually be implemented but I think it is a good message for electoral purposes. Well that's a nice way of saying it haha.

The comment section gave a bit of insight into how people perceive a city they’ve never been to. https://finance.yahoo.com/news/cleveland-offered-120-million-freebies-151239399.html?bcmt=1&messageId=57e9cb8a-43ba-417a-9f86-8d78db44b1f2&guccounter=1

Yanni you have made me nostalgic for my Akron house, circa 91. Glad to see it's somehow still standing!

The future of my Cleveland: Charles Stack (Opinion) CLEVELAND -- I am a lifelong Clevelander and a lifelong, die-hard Browns fan. I would rather save Cleveland than save the Browns. I got to thinking about that as I was reading the recent Plain Dealer editorial connecting the conversation about a new football stadium to the greatly needed, much broader regional development conversation. If you're not sure we need this conversation, consider the following. (Warning: it's bleak.) 1. Cleveland ranks dead last -- 71st of the 71 largest metro areas -- in job creation, according to a May 7 Forbes magazine ranking. 2. Cleveland was the fifth largest city in America 100 years ago. Today we are 51st, and we are one of only three major cities continuing to decline. (US Census) 3. Our poverty rate is currently 35 percent. That's the second worst in the nation. That's connected to other depressing rankings: According to a 2017 study by CBRE, we are 45th in tech talent; U.S. News has us 84th out of 100 for livability. And here's the worst one: Our infant mortality rate is among the highest in the country. http://www.cleveland.com/opinion/index.ssf/2018/05/the_future_of_my_cleveland_cha.html#incart_2box

I was hoping that the YMCA would use all that space for a properly sized indoor pool, but heck, beer garden idea is a great one. Agree that Take 5 is just a really bad use of urban space.
