I'd bet the return on investment per city dollar is much higher on the river than it would be at the stadium-E9th-Burke lakefront. It's not too late to increase the density in FEB. If true, this is only because the Cleveland lakefront is a bizarro world. By all means it should be incredibly attractive real estate with developers climbing all over themselves. Yet the city can't or won't summon the willpower to provide enough enough access. It's frustrating. If the city did nothing but simply provide access and something of a subdivided plan with a grid layout and public easements to the water, I believe we would then see real, organic growth.

Couldn't disagree more. The lakefront is simply an asset that continues to be underutilized. Every waterfront city in America that's worth visiting does better than us.

^ Agree it's an ugly duckling. I'll be curious as to how much this will be utilized. NCH needs a redesign built around pedestrians. It will remain underutilized space until there is improved interaction between the separate attractions. What we have now is just really disjointed. Now the Wendy Park bridge on the other hand is an instant game changer. That cannot come soon enough.

The plans in the storefront would cost twice as much to build. While the design is beautiful, this architect is well known for designing buildings without regard to a budget. That said, the developers' plans for the w.41st/Lorain building are pretty awful. Okay, just so I'm not crazy lol. Thanks.

It's interesting when you read about worker shortages in certain segments that higher wages are never considered as the solution. Supply and demand would tell us that higher wages are necessary. It also suggests that much of the "shortage" buzz is kind of overblown, or at least misleading. What trucking companies are really saying is "we could make more money if there were more sufficiently employable people willing to do this kind of work at this wage level." Just as with teachers, if you spread out the hourly wage to the amount of occupied time by profession, it's not good. While you're stranded in Dubuque, Iowa waiting for another run, you're not getting paid.

My friend tried it for one year. Low to no pay. Horror stories about common practices to skirt safety requirements. My advice to everyone here is to avoid being near any truck you see on the road. Anyhow I imagine trucks will soon be replaced by larger versions of amazon drones. Or robotic fleet of Teslas.

My first instinct is to hate this idea. At first glance it looks like a woeful public entity penalizing a private successful one. There are loads of external costs to society involved with private transportation though. Congestion, fossil fuel consumption, etc. To me these types of taxes are the best way to fund public transit. In NYC when you drive over the bridges into Manhattan and pay a toll, it goes to transit. Makes perfect sense. Due to overbuilding of road infrastructure, we might not have the congestion problems in Cleveland necessarily so you could make an argument against it there, but fundamentally it's sound. Then how about taxing drivers who aren't using rideshare then? This idea to fund RTA by Uber/Lyft is so unimaginative, and perhaps the idea is simply out there to foster division.

Interesting that the Columbus Partnership guy backhands Precourt the way he did. You think in the best interests of keeping the team he would keep his tone a little less honest and a little more diplomatic. Columbus Partnership CEO Alex Fis­cher told the Columbus Dispatch that Precourt had reopened conversations with investors in Ohio about keeping the Crew in Columbus, a bold move after he effectively alienated that entire city's fan base. "It kind of looks like [PSV] were going for broke and being pretty tone deaf leading up to [Friday]," Fischer told the paper. "Now to abruptly change kind of mirrors the experience that we've had with them in Colum­bus."

In the attempt to get a little more on topic, a Buddhist Teaching Center just opened on Madison in Lakewood. Plus I have had my eye on the interesting renovation of this place. Because of the recent addition of building security measures, my wild, unsupported speculation is a med marijuana related business. If anyone wants to chime in with actual info I'd appreciate it.
