  1. Well some good news, it looks like Shazier is improving. Scary incident.
  2. The Bengals really should clean house. They really should be better than they are, but they are so good at finding ways to lose.
  3. Jones was released from prison Oct. 30, 2016 after serving one year and nine months for an armed carjacking. He is on post-prison release supervision until 2019, according to Ohio prison records. Ya know, when you see so much of this garbage from repeat offenders you have to start blaming the system. Less than two years served for an armed carjacking? Come on.
  4. ^ Nice. That hotel reminds me of one they just demoed near the lakefront in Cleveland a few years back.

^ The carb info just gave me flashbacks to some time spent on the Atkins diet. Not proud to say I ordered more than a few Miller Lites, Michelob Ultras and even a Bud Select.
  8. I wonder what this guy really means by this: “I hope we won’t be building the last dinosaur transit system but we will be building the first of the new version of transit systems,” said Yaromir Steiner, CEO of Steiner & Associates, at the news conference. Steiner also is the chairman of the Columbus district of the Urban Land Institute, a nonprofit education and research institute that pushes land use policies as potential solutions to urban problems.
  9. They couldn't pony up they money to buy that Budget building!? Disappointing. I'd guess that in time that the market will demand a taller structure at that location.
  10. "Living in fear" is a bit over the top.
  11. That was such a missed opportunity. Unbelievable! We had a good crowd watching up in Cleveland, all understandably down after this close game.

I love this. I wish USL wasn't in the hierarchy below MLS. To me it's far more interesting being outside of league rules which can be constricting. FCC wouldn't have to be seeking MLS salvation if USL was a viable competitor league. Maybe it will be in the future?
  13. I'm not sure how this handles the drug epidemic. If they're made legal, then current abusers/addicts will remain addicted. Maybe I'm reading the second sentence of your comment wrong. That's a good point. I'd call getting rid of the black market step one. Step two would be to take that "war on drugs" money and invest in a new infrastructure to treat addiction. I'd love to see a city like Cleveland (my attempt to keep on topic!) be an innovator in this approach. But the Feds don't want to give up any autonomy on this because it threatens their power structure.
  14. I just pointed out how other countries are dealing with the epidemic. Did Canada undo their laws against speeding and murder? I agree it's the job of the government to reduce crime, and one way they can do that is to destroy the black market for drugs. We are dealing with an addiction epidemic that can be addressed in a civilized manner. Or we can do what we have been doing...carrying on a costly and inefficient drug war that literally fuels the criminal underworld; a war that's unwinnable.
  15. Detroit huh. Well so much for requiring a soccer specific stadium. People are starting to realize that the MLS is full of crap.
  16. Did you know that heroin is legal in Canada? And drug overdoses are considered murder in Canada. Now that I didn't know. Anyhow there is precedent for legalization in other places like Portugal and Switzerland. It appears the approach has significantly lowered the rates of violent crime we are seeing in Cleveland and in other cities that are associated with the drug trade.

  18. The heroin epidemic is causing a huge turf battle between street level dealers and even the high-level suppliers. I'd expect the trend to continue unless we can reverse the demand of heroin across the state. Ohio is ground zero for heroin ODs. A conversation needs to be had about legalization. Legalization of...? Heroin.

Agree, it tainted his career and there's always going to be those pouty photos of him holding the Bolts jersey! Also I remember his father was doing a lot of the talking for him, which made Eli seem passive, immature and withdrawn. Then again, the Chargers did prove to be a dysfunctional organization after all, so there's that. Anyhow if this guy is available do you want him? I say heck yeah.
  21. Two years without indoor football! It's weird that the Cleveland Gladiators cannot just play at CSU's Wolstien Center.

He's more likely to reunite with Coughlin (front office) in Jacksonville, where the Bortles experiment seems to be a disaster. Eli definitely benefited from a stout D in the two Super Bowl years, but I don't think he played with any HOF-caliber WRs? I don't follow the Giants each year so who knows. Still, I think it's 1) Big Ben, 2) Eli, 3) Rivers. Ok I wouldn't say HOF level, but Manning had guys like Victor Cruz, Amani Toomer, Hakeem Nicks, Odell Beckham, Sterling Shephard, Plaxico Burress. Rivers with a historically bad o-line averages like 30 TD's a year throwing under pressure to undrafted practice squad WR's like Tyrell Williams and Dontrelle Inman. He elevates the ability of the WR's, while I can't say that Eli can do the same. At least not now. When I saw "highlights" of Blake Bortles vs. Blaine Gabbert it was so weird. In my mind they are the same person lol.

Looking like the end of the Eli Manning era in NY. I'm not the biggest fan, I think he is third best in that draft class behind both Roethlisberger and Rivers. We've seen that Eli absolutely needs elite WR's and a solid run game to prosper. But he's still a good player with years left and so benching him is a stupid move....unless they are tanking on purpose. Now with the rumor mill of Jimmy Dee Haslam bringing in Peyton into the fold, the thought of Eli as Browns QB is an intriguing one.
