  1. That's probably true. A comment in the article even said they bought it defensively. And I vaguely remember speculation in a previous article that Bedrock bought the Avenue District just to protect their parking. Gilbert's desire for parking (RIP TC Ampitheatre) is understandable, but potentially damaging too. Is the city strong enough to confront Gilbert if his proposals turn out to be not so great? We shall see. Still early in the process I suppose. I'd want to give them the benefit of the doubt but there's so many question marks and TC is just so damn important.
  2. The upside for this project cannot be overstated. Once Irishtown Bend is completed, it will serve as the last link in connecting Ohio City, the Flats, downtown Cleveland, and the lakefront through a network of trails in the Cleveland Foundation Centennial Lake Link Trail.
  3. Not saying it's correct, but the recent articles give the impression that Bedrock bought TC without any idea of what to do with it; that there was no plan in place.
  4. ^ I thought the district as a "cultural hub" would call for something a lot more adventurous. But there's nothing really wrong with that imho.
  5. Well, I'm conflicted on Sims. Here's why. They did successfully collect a significant amount of sand. But the method they used required depositing all those rocks, walling off an equally significant portion of the water in the process. https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-RCuNQBU5k0Y/UGzzEw1FZLI/AAAAAAAAGP8/aKcBZPNzYGA/s1600/P9130956.JPG You see a similar thing at Presque Isle, which to me looks very unnatural - and it is. Perhaps it's a lesser of evils, but I don't know. https://i.ytimg.com/vi/CSq5fh4s2Rk/maxresdefault.jpg
  6. Cross-posted with the "Glass Block" thread. Cuyahoga County plans to sell Euclid Avenue property in Cleveland's Midtown for future development By Karen Farkas, cleveland.com kfarkasCleveland[/member].com CLEVELAND, Ohio - The former transportation center for the Cuyahoga County Board of Developmental Disabilities in Cleveland's Midtown is expected to be sold for $2.5 million for a future development. Legislation will be introduced at Cuyahoga County Council's meeting Tuesday to sell the 3.44 acres at 7001 Euclid Avenue to Colab Partners LLC. The company was registered with the state on Oct. 31 by Cleveland-area investor Joel Scheer. Scheer said on Monday that he couldn't discuss his plans for the site at this time. http://www.cleveland.com/cuyahoga-county/index.ssf/2017/11/cuyahoga_county_plans_to_sell_euclid_avenue_property_in_clevelands_midtown_for_future_development.html#incart_m-rpt-1
  7. This should rally the glass block preservationists! http://www.cleveland.com/cuyahoga-county/index.ssf/2017/11/cuyahoga_county_plans_to_sell_euclid_avenue_property_in_clevelands_midtown_for_future_development.html#incart_m-rpt-1

That was a really tough game to watch. Until the end! I'm not sure anyone knows what this team is all about yet.

Here's how I see the NFL as complicit: -Unnecessary THREE year hiatus. You don't need that much time to build a front office, ridiculous. That was to punish the city. -Not giving the Browns the same draft advantages that JAX and CAR received. Really, that was a big deal. -Forcing Carmen Policy on Al Lerner. Policy's bad management was haunting and akin to building a new house on a crumbly foundation of ineptitude. -Giving the team to Tennessee Jimmy Haslem.
  11. ^ PS is so amazing as is, but what's really amazing is there's still room for much much more.
  12. Ok then, how is the low info AM radio crowd going to react to taxpayer dollars going toward a weak, un-American sport like soccer? Does this hurt Cranley?
  13. ^ Thoughtful glass block analysis there David. Why is it that glass block's considered awful, but this looks cool. https://i.ytimg.com/vi/TeULAwbUZ1s/maxresdefault.jpg One thing I don't like about glass block is that people use it as a window replacement in high-crime areas. Therefore when you see it, you can reason "I'm in an area with a crime problem." Same thing with security screen doors. Or bars on windows. Or a "Keep Out" sign some people put on their houses lol.

^ You know, if you did circulate a petition to tear the stadium down I wonder how many people would sign. My guess - a lot. Also I don't feel the NFL has been guilted enough for their complicity in the historic ineptitude of the Browns.
  15. ^ Wow, that's really something.

Wouldn't it be great if Kiser could show enough progress so that the pick doesn't have to be a QB? Also, I really hate how the Browns have surrounded a rookie QB with guys that can't catch. Or TE's who can't block. And an offensive scheme that completely forgets you can still run the ball. SPeaking of TE, I find it hard to believe that Gary Barnidge lost his job to these scrubs.
  17. Agreed. Get the street right, that's the most important thing.

Don't get your hopes up....or down. There's still the Charger game. LA(me)
  19. A result of their unique financing?
  20. Here's the problem with this plan.... Working with design consultants from Detroit-based SmithGroupJJR, Euclid proposed to property owners that it would clean up and re-engineer the shoreline to make it erosion resistant and more habitat-friendly for wildlife, in exchange for the right to create the waterfront trail. Beaches NEED erosion in order to exist, it's all a natural process called littoral drift, and it's disrupted by armoring the coastline. https://revisionworld.com/sites/revisionworld.com/files/imce/longshore%20drift.jpg This erosion issue really needs to be addressed across the board in a coherent statewide plan. Unfortunately Ohio seems light years away from any such solution. I applaud Euclid for their efforts, there are surely some good elements to their plan. Their hearts in the right place. But it won't give us those expansive beaches that we had in the past. Sure there will be pockets of beach surrounded by piers and very unnatural looking breakwalls, but not much.
  21. Is it near/south of Franklin? If so, probably. By contrast, the beautiful homes on Grace Avenue were built for Union Carbide's executives. Yeah. Birdtown. Grace is beautiful. It sort of reminds me of a narrower, straighter version of West Blvd.
  22. Interesting take. I wonder what percentage of fans will be willing to pay MLS ticket prices?
  23. Great point. Whoever built my house in eastern Lakewood was either on drugs or just not good with a tape measure. Union carbide??
  24. The article indicated they were targeting office tenants. Kind of surprising.
