Cleveland: Rocket Arena (Gund Arena)
Should be an interesting project to watch unfold. I sure wish they would use some of the funding to install ground floor retail in that parking garage. It really kills the neighborhood.

ESPN love... Real or not? It's time to appreciate the greatness of Indians' win streak ... In our fast-paced world with iPhones to check and Instagrams to update and photos to message, our ability to sit back and soak in the everyday aspect of baseball has, to a certain degree, been lost. We tend to focus on the final result: Who wins the World Series. I understand that. It is, after all, the goal of every team and every player. But what the Indians are doing is more impressive than winning a World Series. I guess my plea is this: Let's admire greatness in the regular season the same way we admire greatness in the postseason. I know, I know: Nobody remembers the 2001 Mariners, the 2016 Warriors aren't the best team ever and the 2007 Patriots lost the game that mattered most. I can live with it. I just don't want to hear that this streak doesn't matter unless the Indians win the World Series. That's a sad way to view the world. It matters and it's awesome. http://www.espn.com/blog/sweetspot/post/_/id/82613/real-or-not-its-time-to-appreciate-the-greatness-of-indians-win-streak

Not to get too far off topic, but isn't France undergoing a financial crisis?

Favorite Music At The Moment?
^ All good stuff! I too lament the loss of 50's and 60's oldies radio. The Cars, Asia and Toto and other 80's groups are NOT oldies lol.

Favorite Music At The Moment?
Lol. Well, I am a bit of a music nerd, so I'm totally down with "The Rebel Kind." I've actually seen Billy Hinsche many times as he's long been a sideman for the Beach Boys. Lead guitarist Carl Wilson was married to Billy's sister. When they divorced (it was amicable because everyone on earth loved Carl) Carl married.....Dino Martin's sister. Everyone loved Carl!

Cleveland: General Business & Economic News
The high rate of pay in Denver more than compensates for its higher cost of living. https://www.numbeo.com/cost-of-living/compare_cities.jsp?country1=United+States&city1=Cincinnati%2C+OH&country2=United+States&city2=Denver%2C+CO BTW does anyone think that Cleveland's dysfunctional city council would scare Amazon?

It's hard to argue against Denver right now.

I sincerely hope they fixed the sopping wet drop ceiling that continually rained musty debris down on the AG artists.

Ohio: General Business & Economic News
Interesting comments section. One thing I don't quite get is the idea that Pittsburgh has a clear advantage over the Ohio cities. Even if Pittsburgh does have a larger pool of tech students, will those grads not relocate a few hours away for a job?

Favorite Music At The Moment?
In high school I bought a cassette that had Gary Lewis & the Playboys on one side, and Jay and the Americans on the other. That's the reason that to this day I can't tell which band is which lol. The early-mid sixties were such a great time for music. The Wrecking Crew played on Gary's biggest hit, This Diamond Ring. I just happened to read all about it in a terrific book by Kent Hartman.

I love under the radar MAC players. I kind of wish people would pay more attention to the conference. The Big 10 certainly casts a big shadow.

Cleveland: Scranton Peninsula: Development and News
Interesting ideas. So you're envisioning a much more mixed-use plan then? I suppose I had this area at say 90 percent residential, probably based on some 20 year old proposal by FCE.

Cleveland: Scranton Peninsula: Development and News
I could be wrong, but those are the reasons we'll see SP develop in stages, rather than in one full swoop. There are positives for that approach, ie more time and flexibility for planning and reassessment.

I'm not sure I can envision 50,000 employees getting in and out of Scranton Peninsula each day.

My spatial analysis skills are lacking. Couldn't Amazon simply build alongside Burke? I thought I remember the Geis plan being pretty large.

Cleveland / Lakewood: The Edge Developments
Well that's been our version of transit-oriented development lol. The surrounding developments have used that very building to adhere to the neighborhood aesthetic. Now it sure would be ironic, no, that's not the right word....typical, if they ended up tearing it down after all that. Even the most auto-centric among us should shudder to imagine what kind of cluster* that a gas station would create at that intersection.

Cleveland / Lakewood: The Edge Developments
The bar at the corner of W117 and Madison is still "Under Construction" with no visible activity, as nobody here is likely surprised. What's the over-under on this building surviving?

Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail
Just got back to the great state of Ohio this a.m. Despite the ungodly humidity, I decided to spend the whole day exploring the new Lake Link and Towpath Trails. Fun! My accomplice today was a great friend, a real estate developer from Cbus, who has his eye on the area. We can not wait to see what transpires with the Scanton Peninsula, as anyone can easily see the future ahead is a bright one. However, the timeline for change may be longer than we like, as at times we were overcome by alternate waves of garbage and sewer smells, not good. Just another reminder that the entire area is a work in progress and part of a long term plan. We were disappointed that Tremont, that one of the premier neighborhoods was so dead during the daytime. I had to tell my friend it's more of a night time destination...maybe it's different now, but today it was very sleepy. The saving grace was that Brick and Barrel Brewing was open, and we made a major investment there :-) Nevertheless, my friend is a long term thinker, and he left with a great impression of the area. What was cool was we saw a lot of other people checking out the trail, taking pics and enjoying the day. The Peninsula offers a lot of intriguing views of Terminal Tower, the downtown skyline and all of the cool ships coming up the Cuyahoga. Amazing. I myself would gladly invest in the area, if only I were a little bit younger....

FC Cincinnati Discussion
^ As far the market and demographics go, Nashville is in a virtual tie with Cincinnati on things like TV market, Fortune 500 companies, and percentage of population under the age of 35. Surprising to read this. I just assumed Nashville was overflowing with Millenials.

Cleveland: Midtown: Development and News
Well for one thing the building is in clear violation of zoning. It's built right up to the sidewalk for crying out loud. Where's the grass? Where's the surface parking? /s Seriously it's a shame. I always liked that place and assumed it would be renovated. Art Deco?
