  1. Great news. But the picture of Cleveland on the Blount site is not the best.
  2. ^^ One of my spies has informed me there's construction materials in the north section of Rockport. Will be really nice to finally see the finished project.
  3. "I knew it. I have been WAITING for the sex tapes to come out." -Poster's identity withheld :-)
  4. Frankly, I wouldn’t see the benefit if it cost 25% of what it eventually would. Look at it on a map, that’s the spot where the waves hit so hard even during moderate storms that they get all over the freeway. To benefit from this new shoreline, you’d need a new breakwall. For starters. Plus, unless you’re going to run this new freeway straight through Gordon Park, you don’t really make the highway any smoother. I drive by this four or five times a week. Best use would be an apartment/office complex with a parking deck on the lower floors and a sound wall in front of that. Once you get up to the third or fourth floor it is basically lake view property just the same as if you built right on it. Tunnel under the Shoreway in that area and it’s still connected. An apartment/office complex the way you describe doesn't address one of our most glaring needs -- to be in better actual, physical connection with the waterfront. Tunnels and bridges technically do funnel people, but seem a much inferior option to the admittedly optimistic "B" proposals in the article.
  5. Yeah, it would be called the Chernobyl Urban Garden, the veggies would be bigger than humans! As I understand it, certain crops help clean out the soil. Asparagus maybe? Might not want to eat the first batch. I like the idea of moving the freeway here, cost-benefit seems problematic though. Everyone loves moving the freeway, except ODOT maybe. Regarding your asparagus, this lakefront reuse article comes to mind: NEWS Brownfield-based vineyard ready to expand http://www.chroniclet.com/news/2007/08/04/Brownfield-based-vineyard-ready-to-expand.html
  6. ^ And just like that, Litt resurfaces! Food production center? What on earth?
  7. Um, I guess there's that adage, no such thing as bad publicity haha.
  8. Agree. Playhouse Square should function as the media center of the region. It just seems like great momentum to tie in the film school with all of progress going on in the theater district.
  9. Agree with all your points, but I think the best way to do this is to put the Health Tech along the Opportunity Corridor, allowing the area around Euclid Ave to be developed into walkable mixed use. Euclid already connects two desirable areas so why not continue that theme? Health tech installations aren't particularly walkable. While neighborhoods containing industry can be perfectly viable, there's no reason to make our Main Street into one. That's not what cities usually do, instead they usually make Main Street their premier neighborhood. Kinda like Cleveland did in the first place... we don't need to reinvent it! I thought this idea was brilliant. Cleveland’s District of Design; what happened? Today, most people look puzzled when you ask them what happened to the District of Design. Many don’t even know there was such a thing in the first place. “Sounds like the Medical Mart,” a friend of mine said on the phone recently. The brainchild of Cleveland Institute of Art industrial design professor and chair Dan Cuffaro and Cleveland State University’s Ned Hill, the goal of the District of Design Initiative was to create as Cuffaro put it, “The Milan of the Midwest,” an agglomeration of consumer design firms in the hope of generating jobs for graduates of the Cleveland Institute of Art’s Design Program. When it was first presented to the public, a flurry of news stories touting its’ benefits appeared in local media and then mysteriously vanished. Now, question is this; is the District of Design still viable or was it doomed from the start? https://madmangreatlake.wordpress.com/2014/08/17/clevelands-district-of-design-what-happened/
  10. Bingo. I actually had this same idea last year, and even posted a rank amateur photoshop of what it would look like. It's really a good idea that would help out existing businesses and facilitate more development. The boardwalk extension would help compel people to venture. Canal Basin would link it to the Towpath, it's got to happen. The current incarnation of the boardwalk looks nice, but since it doesn't go anywhere it doesn't function properly as a connector.
  11. People don't simply sacrifice pay for warm weather. Some do! "Sunshine tax" or "Paradise tax" is an ironic term used in the United States and Canada to describe the phenomenon that salaries are often lower than the national average, and costs of living higher than the national average, in places that have a desirably temperate climate. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sunshine_tax
  12. The tv show Gotham actually borrows a few CLE buildings for their skyline shots
  13. Yeah, those idiots! That's why I always lease.
  14. At 9:01pm these folks around Perk don't have many options available to congregate outdoors. At least not legally. Its a main reason why personally wouldn't choose to live or raise a family there. Cleveland has made great strides, but we have to admit there is much room for improvement. Restricting park hours there for people who aren't causing any problems just seems counterproductive and unnecessary.
  15. This cool building was most likely one of the original Standard Oil gas stations! Here's the Donato's Pizza in Lakewood, OH.
  16. I have seen lots of kids in and around Perk Park. They are usually playing soccer. It's really cool to see a sense of community developing.
  17. ^ That clip is hilarious. I'm kind of surprised they just don't record and edit these things. Unless of course they're going for that lovable "Anchorman" low budget feeling. Anyhow, 2400/month seems fairly steep to me for that place.
  18. ^ Glenn loves the lake!
  19. ^ If OC doesn't border Detroit-Shoreway, then what's in between?

I have two friends that grew up on the same street in Parma, just outside of Cleveland. One has a cat. The other has a keyyyyattttt.
