  1. While not as high energy as Miami, I've had some really, really good nights here: http://www.wkyc.com/news/cleveland-is-a-foodie-town-taco-tontos/395146007
  2. I'm betting the "logic" behind it was that a lot of pro athletes live in Westlake, and they like that sort of thing...ya know....butt collagen, bottle service, etc.
  3. I feel like it's my obligation to report that there's a place in Westlake called "Miami Nights." And....it's closing. Be prepared to have whatever you're eating or drinking shoot out of your nose...... http://m.clevescene.com/scene-and-heard/archives/2017/02/01/the-sizzle-of-south-beach-has-been-snuffed-out-in-westlake

I'm interested in knowing if Johnson is truly sorry for his crimes, and not just for getting caught.

The local sports talk hosts would actually have to learn about Hockey. Hearing those guys talk about hockey, soccer or any sport outside of their comfort zone is downright painful. Only Kenny Roda seems to be versed in NHL, and he was sent packing down to AA Canton.

I get what you mean but I suppose the West Side Market belongs in Cleveland and not Ohio City. Long Island and the fanbase is 500 miles from Brooklyn....culturally!

San Diego led the AHL in attendance...and they kind of need the morale boost right now! But really, the Islanders belong in Long Island. It didn't seem right to see them in Brooklyn.

Saw it over the weekend. It's a fun, insightful but subtle movie. Paterson the city was fantastically photogenic throughout. I honestly can't think of too many places that have that kind of density.
  10. Birdtown Brewery Takes Delivery of Brewing Equipment, Eyes Fall Opening Posted By Douglas Trattner on Thu, Jan 26, 2017 at 1:57 pm It’s been two years since we last reported on the Birdtown Brewery (2035 Quail St.) project taking form in the old St. Gregory Catholic Church in Lakewood's Birdtown neighborhood. Well, there’s good reason finally to post an update. “The brewing equipment is getting delivered,” says Sean Fairbairn, who along with Barrio Restaurant Group partner Tom Leneghan is behind the project. “It’s exciting because we’ve had this project on hold for several years.” Conservative estimates peg opening day in Fall of 2017. http://www.clevescene.com/scene-and-heard/archives/2017/01/26/birdtown-brewery-takes-delivery-of-brewing-equipment-eyes-fall-opening
  11. Haha you're not alone ... the rendering looks absolutely hideous. Maybe it'll change Not the worst thing I've seen. But you expect a school like CIA to have something better.
  12. In 2004 I remember in either the Other Paper or Columbus Alive there was an article on "the resident kids of downtown Columbus." There was perhaps less than a two dozen of them, and their ages spanned several years. But they all hung out together, riding their bikes and seeking out adventures in a city that they basically had all to themselves. I actually cannot remember if they were public or private schooled, my guess is private, but it seemed rather surreal to see pictures of them hanging out at night on vacant downtown streets.

The first season of The OC is one of my all time favorites!

Ugly. I thought this would be a "fun" regular season, but it's almost as hard to watch as last year, if not harder.
  15. This is a can of worms issue. I've never seen a flat roof that didn't leak, but I'm told (condescendingly!) by some architects that they perform just as well as a peaked roof.
  16. Cleveland was built to be a great city. It is still a great city. Its history is one of overcoming obstacles! Come on folks, these obstacles can be overcome :-)
  17. Ha! One of my friends actually learned to sail there back in the 80s. Interestingly, the smaller section of the lake cut off by the freeway was actually pristine compared to the larger section. Ps my wife took bowling class and her avg actually dropped 20 pts!
  18. In college I spent a semester taking water samples from the lake. It's going to cost a fortune to remediate, there's quite an industrial legacy there as I'm sure you're well aware. But the study is indeed a welcomed start. Good news. Hoping it triggers some Fed funding asap.
  19. Haha. Um, I ride on the north sidewalk of the bridge.....[sheepishly goes back into hiding] Nothing wrong with that. Hugging the curb while riding east on the south side of the bridge as huge dump trucks fly past you is not enjoyable and on a windy day it's downright scary. I just cant justify crossing over traffic twice to get to (and from) the promised land to the north! Which gets me thinking about this: Even if the south side of the bridge is returned to non-vehicular use just as the north is today. We still have to transition to and from the Midway track thus crossing traffic. Long live the North! Way too many close calls with those cars and trucks lol. I'm not feeling as brave as I used to.
  20. Some nice pics in the PD of Tenk building. This is the soul of Cleveland. Sure, we need nice new buildings too, Jacobs, et al. But there's ample room to preserve the value, the spirit and the history that makes Cleveland unique. photos by Thomas Ondrey
  21. Hey, be easy on our lakefront. We've got a nice Mexican restaurant!!!

  23. I know of Queens, NY: http://www.streetfilms.org/queens-plaza-protected-cycletrack-is-open-for-business/ I am hoping they try this out on Superior. The intersection coming off the Detroit-Superior Bridge into downtown is really sketchy.

Sugar drinks and "empty" carbs are the Devil....the sweet sweet Devil. I've had good results going low carb on stints when I'm not getting enough exercise. You've got to be very strict though, no cheating. I actually gotten my cholesterol (and excess body fat) under control by eating bacon, steak, rotisserie chicken, eggs, mayonnaise, olive oil, etc.
